Snowstorms are one of the many things one is bound to come across in Minnesota. Most of the Natives past the age of 13 hate snow. I mean when you’re little you see snow and almost run out of the house in you’re pajamas because its snow but on that faithful year about the age of 13 you look out the window and sigh. Do you know what snow means? It means shoveling the driveway, extremely cold temperatures (most of the time in the negatives), and car crashes. A whole lot of car crashes. 41 years ago a 13-year-old boy woke up sighing at the sight of the first snowfall of the year. Of course the torture didn’t stop there. Not even close. You see this boy was Chris Murphy (later to be known as Dr. Chris Taylor) and this is the day Chris’s fairly normal life ceased to exist. It was Chris’s 13th birthday but it was also the day his parents died in a car crash and if that wasn’t enough his older brother deserted him.

Chris sighed as he got out of his rental car. It was snowing again just like 41 years ago on his 13th birthday. Chris comes to Minnesota every year on his birthday to visit his parent’s grave. As Chris walked over to grave he wondered how he would react this time. It seems like every time he comes he gets a different reaction. Chris used his cane to get rid of the little bit of snow on it. Chris stared at the gravestone.

Here lies
Shannon and Riley Murphy
Lovers even after death

Chris was confused. He usually had some sort of reaction by now. Chris sighed. He felt nothing absolutely nothing. It was like he didn’t care anymore. Chris started to limp back to the rental car.

Logan was at a graveyard, he wasn't sure how he quite found himself there but nonetheless, he tried to find a reason for being there. A fallen comrade? Nah, too cliche…there were things he had to do but he simply was distracted by pulling his coat around his waist a bit more to keep in his body heat, he had arrived in Minnesota a few short hours ago and was still suffering from jet lag. It was a well earned short two week vacation and he had just come to Minnesota for a couple of days before heading back to London. Glancing around, he saw a man wiping off a gravestone with his cane and began to meander down over there.

He wasn't stalking this guy, but usually being off-duty made things rather interesting for him, so watching him turn away and limp back to his car, he naturally followed.

"Hey, mate!" He called out. "Want to get a coffee or something, it's bloomin' freezing out here?" Logan let out a small chuckle, coming out as a puff of air. He was also noticing that he was shivering, sometimes, he hated the snow…or was that the  fact that he never really liked graveyards?

Nonetheless, he went with the explanation of snow to put his mind at rest whilst waiting for the man's answer.

Emma sipped a cup of cinnamon herbal tea thoughtfully, looking over some files that were spread out on the table in front of her. She was sitting in a booth intended for about four people, so she could make use of the table space, but she was here alone. She knew she wasn't supposed to be working on cases and stuff yet, but she couldn't help trying to help people. She'd come across some discarded files that hadn't even made it to the FBI's desk for consideration, and she didn't think that it was right for a case to get thrown out before it had even been given a glancing over. So she'd given it that, and she tried really hard to keep a neutral perspective as she looked it over.

The file that had set her onto the case was someone's statement that they suspected that someone had tampered with their vehicle, but the police hadn't been able to find out who it was. She had done a little research and found a surprising number of vehicle accidents having occurred there. Most of them she could easily understand, it having happened during winter in snowy, icy conditions. But the more she dug into this, the more she began to notice a few isolated accidents, in the last 40 years or so, that she couldn't help feeling questionable about. So she dug some more, until she found enough to feel like this deserved more investigation.

And now, here she was in a cafe in Minnesota, studying the case files that she had assembled and trying to figure out if there was any sort of pattern, and trying also to find more information on each one of these cases to further build the case. She wasn't positive yet if they were even connected, but she had a feeling there was something tying them together. She tapped her pen against her chin lightly as she thought it over, then she typed something into her laptop and searched for results, thankful to Garcia for teaching her how to really make good use of computers.

Chris had agreed to go to a cafe with this man he's never met before. Of course since Chris grew up around here he knew of one nearby. Chris had absolutely no idea why he was going to a cafe with this stranger. It's not like he was afraid. He didn't care about "Stranger Danger". Stranger Danger just made it harder for him to have child patients. They never trusted him. Chris reached the cafe and went inside. He smelled the aroma of coffee. Chris hated coffee so he ordered Hot Chocolate. As he was waiting for the Hot Chocolate Chris looked around. He saw a woman looking over some files. She was close enough to read some of the newspapers. Chris stared at the one article from a long time ago. It was about his parents car crash. Chris grabbed his drink and walked over to her. He recognized the woman but he couldn't recall who she was. Chris also saw the article about his car crash from a few years ago. This woman must be a stalker. "Hey! Whats the deal, are you stalking my life or something?" Chris asked attempting to make it a calm response.

They walked towards the cafe, Logan sniffing as the cold set in. Entering the cafe, a lovely waft of coffee and infused teas rushed up his nostrils, the smell seemingly warming up his body. That or it was the placebo effect. He wasn't exactly sure what to expect but what he did expect was that it would be similar to anything in London, just the portions might be larger than he initially expected. but he was here to drink coffee…or tea, either one didn't bother him very much. So, he ordered a latte and glanced around. He spotted a woman at the same time the man did, at first, she looked familiar. But where from? He was racking his memory when the man had exclaimed something about 'stalking him' as Logan had zoned out for a tiny bit, he thought the man was directly accusing him of stalking. However, seeing that the man was now looking at the woman…he was in the clear.

"Hey, mate. She's just reading an article--" Logan noticed it was about the car crash, his brain was putting the pieces together rather slowly, which was annoying for him. The waitress re-appproched him and placed the latte in front of him.

He got up, standing just behind the man, people were looking and he didn't really want to make anything go down. Especially when a man was holding a hot beverage and so was he.

Emma read carefully through the file she had pulled up on her laptop, and frowned slightly as she thought about that. Then she was surprised by someone approaching her and asking if she was stalking his life. She looked up from her laptop in puzzlement, and recognized the guy. She took a second to remember his name.
"Doctor Taylor, wasn't it?" She asked, slightly unsure.

She glanced at the files he was looking at, which were a few she hadn't gotten to yet, and then looked back up at him.
"Sorry, I didn't realize these files were anything to do with you.. especially seeing as I had no idea you lived in Minnesota." She explained calmly. She gave a small smile to the British cop with him, thinking he also looked familiar but she couldn't quite place where she'd seen him before.

She carefully stacked some of the files together and moved them aside to make more table space.
"Please, have a seat?" She offered, motioning to the booth seat across from her. She looked at Dr. Taylor again. "I'm not stalking you, I promise." She assured him. "I'm just working a case." She said, and pointed to the FBI emblem on her jacket. "FBI, see? I'm far too busy to stalk someone. And I have no reason to do so, either." She smiled. "So what brings you here? And may I ask, which of these files were about you?"

Chris warily sat down. He still couldn't remember who this woman was. Well, she was an FBI agent maybe she would listen about his serial killer brother. Chris took a sip of his hot chocolate. "I grew up here." Chris said and looked at the files. "To be honest these two pertain to me directly." He said and grabbed the article about his parents and the one about him. "The one from 41 years ago is about my parents and the one from a few years ago is about me." Chris said and set the articles aside. He really doesn't like talking about his past but if it was a way to keep him safe from his brother he'd do it. "It might be hard to believe but my older brother killed my parents and is trying to kill me." Chris said and sighed. "His name is Alec Murphy." Chris said and pulled out his iPhone to get a picture of him. Once he found it he turned the phone around and set it on the table. The picture was from the hospital after his car crash. Alec was standing next to Chris's bed and was smirking as usual. This was before Chris realized Alec caused the car crash. Chris hated this picture but he's never had the heart to delete it. It was one of his only good memories with his brother. Even though Chris later learned  that Alec caused the crash. Chris stared at the picture. Alec always had that stupid smirk on his face. "Thats him." Chris said and took another sip of the hot chocolate.

Logan took a seat when the man did, the woman had given him a smile, showing that he was recognized, but where on planet earth had he seen that face before? FBI…then his mind reverted back to the current conversation in which the man was talking about some serial killer for…a brother? That probably didn't end so well…his question was answered when he had given all the necessary details to find the guy. He peered at the photo careful, his brows knitting together.

He looked up at the woman, smiled, reaching out to have a handshake. "Logan Fletcher, i work for the police department, I was sure that we've seen each other around…And your name is?" He turned to the man, with the picture of his deranged brother.

"Actually, how come this guy, your brother had not been arrested and taken into jail for mental instability?" He asked, his brain finally getting into gear.

Emma smiled at Logan and shook his offered hand.
"Emma Morgan, nice to meet you. You work in.. London, don't you?" She inquired uncertainly. "I saw you there, when there was a sort of spaceship thing in the sky that time?" She said, figuring that ought to jog his memory. She then turned her attention to Dr Taylor as he answered her question. She looked at the files he pointed out. She had looked over the one with the car wreck involving the couple he said were his parents, but she hadn't yet looked at the one about his own wreck.

She skimmed over the article thoughtfully before looking up at him, listening as he told her about his brother. She looked closely at the picture on his phone that he showed her, and nodded thoughtfully.
"That's a pretty serious accusation.. what kind of proof do you have to back it up?" She asked carefully. She didn't want him to think that she didn't believe him, because it was clear he was convinced of it. But she didn't want to go after a guy based on circumstantial evidence or just on the word of someone who said he was guilty.

She looked back at Logan and answered his questions.
"He hasn't been arrested because if he is behind these deaths, he's very good at making it look like an accident." She explained. "Most of these cases never even made it to the cops, let alone the FBI. The only reason it came anywhere near the FBI desk is because someone filed a report about their car having been tampered with and they thought someone was trying to kill them. Even that was dismissed, because they didn't find anything. But I found the file and started digging deeper and found all these other cases that seemed connected.. and so here I am, investigating. Because I thought it deserved being looked into, at least."

She took a breath after having spoken, and sipped her tea.
"So.. what sort of motive could Alec have for killing your parents? And why would he want to kill you?" She asked Dr Taylor. She folded her hands together and let them rest on the table.

She was open to having a lead on suspects, but she also wanted to get a bit of a profile on the unsub first so she could know whether any potential suspects fit the profile. Still, she would hear out what Dr Taylor had to say, and she wasn't about to disregard it. But she also wasn't going to take the info and run with it without considering other possibilities. That was what they called 'tunnel vision', and she didn't want to be like that. That was how innocent people got sent to jail for crimes they didn't commit; investigators decided they were guilty and looked for evidence to prove it. Emma often considered it something like cramming a puzzle piece into a place where it didn't belong. She just wanted to make sure the right person was arrested, and she definitely didn't want to be responsible for making an innocent person go to jail.

Chris's eyes darted around the cafe. He was nervous but had no idea why."It's a long story a very long story. It happened on my 13 birthday 41 years ago..." Chris said to start the story.

Chris hopped out of bed before his alarm clock went off. It was his 13 birthday and nothing could possibly ruin it. He's officially a teenager now. Chris got ready for school and then ran down the stairs to get his winter gear on. As he hopped on one foot trying to get his left boot on his mother came down the stairs. "Have a good day at school Chris!" she yelled to him as he ran out the door to catch his bus. "You too Mom!" Chris yelled back. School went better then usual because none of the bullies bombarded him. Chris got home from school expecting his mom or dad to greet him but no one was home. There was a knock on the door so Chris went to answer it. His older brother Alec was standing there. "Hey Chrisy I have something to show you." He said with a smirk on his face. I followed him to his car and got in. He drove me to where my parents work. "Watch." Alec said. The little 13 year old boy witnessed his mom and dad die in a car crash while his older brother smiled the whole time.

"He dropped me off at an orphanage after that." Chris finished. His eyes darted around the cafe again. "I think he tried to kill me because I know to much or something like that and as for why he killed my parents..." Chris said and paused for a moment to recall Alec's motive again. "I think it had something to do with the fact my mom and dad didn't approve of his girlfriend." Chris said and stood up. His gut was telling him to get out of here right away. "It's getting late." Chris said as he stared out the window at a figure.

((So sorry! I was really busy))

Logan raised his eyebrows. It was those kind of stories that you should have gotten used to hearing but then again, he did not hear them that often, thus the surprise. Then again, acts like this didn't swing by his desk all too much. He looked to Emma and back to Chris. "He didn't finish off the job?" That may have sounded a bit rude but that wouldn't be what he was aiming for, usually killers would have finished the job off and not simply dropped them off at an orphanage.

"Don't take it the wrong way, I was simply curious, for a killer that your brother is…never mind…I believe it's the FBI's job around here." He smiled at Emma, it was a small grim smile. A few other questions popped into his head.

He noticed Chris's nervous reactions. "He's still looking for you?" Logan was in his element. What would happen now? The thing was there was still a killer out there, and these were his sort of division. Logan needed to keep an open mind about this.

Emma listened as Dr Taylor explained about his brother. In her head she was seeing things about this brother's character that matched perfectly with the beginning of a profile she'd started to build on the unsub. So far what she'd heard about him confirmed that this was the right guy. The story was troubling, to think that someone would kill his own parents over a girl that he probably isn't even still with. Given this guy's sadistic personality, she would be very surprised if the girl had stuck with him. And not only had he left his little brother with a traumatic memory, but he had also left him with an injury that hindered his mobility, and was apparently still trying to kill him.

She watched Dr Taylor stand, acting nervous. He was staring at a point behind her, in a manner that suggested fear. She instinctively knew that he saw his brother.
"Doctor Taylor, please stay calm and try to act like nothing is wrong. Is your brother outside?" She asked in a calm tone. "And has he seen that you see him?" She tried to think of what to do. "If you can pretend like you haven't seen him, then try to do that." She wondered if she could get a look at the guy without it being obvious. She looked across from her, hoping there would be a window or something to reflect, but there wasn't anything.

Chris saw the figure disappear. "It... It was nothing." Chris stuttered. He was trying to come up with a plan to get away at a moments notice. Chris looked down at his leg and sighed. So much for escape plans. He attempted to regain his composure. He didn't like feeling and looking weak. "Yes, he is still after me." He said and absentmindedly glanced out the window. "He knows I come to Minnesota every year around my birthday." Chris explained and sat back down. "He always seems to know were I am." Chris said. The cafe's door opened causing Chris to almost jump out of his chair. He was relived when he realized it wasn't Alec. Chris's cell phone vibrated so he looked at the text message.

To: Dr. Chris Taylor
From: Dr. John Jackson

Hey Chris your brother told me that you are back in Minnesota again. We should meet up sometime before you leave.

Chris quickly sent a reply asking if John knew where his brother was. He wouldn't be surprised if Alec was here but Chris hopes he isn't.

Logan watched this man carefully, he was definitely jumpy. "He's there, isn't he?" He was sure that with a man, Chris's brother after him, he should be put under protective custody. "You have two officials with you, one FBI and me. He wouldn't try anything." I hope... It was up to Emma to make the final decision. When he watched Chris text on his phone, his own phone rang.

He quickly excused himself and moved to the door, going through it.

"Logan, we need you back in London pretty quickly, what's the quickest flight you can catch?"

Logan sighed. "What's the scene?"

"Triple homicide and you're been called onto the task force to hunt down the alien killer. Just get back here quickly and I'll fill you on things."

With that, the conversation ended and he went back into the cafe sighing. He passed by both Chris and Emma and went to the counter to ask for a coffee for the drive back to the airport. With the coffee in his hand, he headed back to the two and gave them a small, grim smile.

"Sorry guys, I have to depart from here, triple homicide calls. Here's my number if anything arises about Alec." He patted Chris gently on the shoulder and nodded at Emma before heading out back to the carpark across the graveyard and got in, buckled up and was en route to London.

Emma watched Dr. Taylor, concerned. It was clear he was nervous, and seeing the person that she was sure must have been his brother had unsettled him greatly. She could tell his injured leg bothered him more than just because it was injured, but because it made it difficult to move very fast. She imagined that must be worrying to someone with a killer after them. She also could see he didn't like having such a weakness, and probably tried not to let anyone know how much it bothered him. That would explain the way he seemed to act grumpy most of the time, or at least most of the time that she had seen him.

Emma watched the other guy get up as he got a phone call. She waited for him to come back, noticing he got a coffee to go. So when he came back saying he had been called home to work on a triple homicide case, she nodded. She wasn't too surprised that he had to go, because she'd expected it from how he'd acted.
"Good luck with the case." She told him.

Turning back to Dr. Taylor once Logan had gone, she noticed he still seemed tense and nervous, jumping at the least little thing.
"It's alright Dr. Taylor, please relax." She said calmly. She waited while he read a text that he had received and sent one in reply. "I don't suppose you know where we might be able to find your brother?" She asked. She thought for a moment. "What I really need is some hard evidence that can't be argued with, to prove that he did this. It has to be totally unarguable and obtained legally.."

She sighed softly. Sometimes the limits of the law frustrated her, but she tried to abide by those limits the best she could.
"Something that can't be ignored in court, or argued that someone else could've done it.." She bit her lip, thinking. "You're a witness, of course. That helps. Your testimony alone could get him put away for your parent's deaths, but... there's all these other cases too, and I feel convinced that he's behind these as well. I just.. need proof of it."

She thought about that for a moment, then looked up at him, serious.
"I'll protect you the best that I can, ok? You don't need to be so afraid." She said quietly so not to have everyone hear that, but she spoke sincerely as well. "He won't hurt you as long as I'm around." She promised.

Chris was surprised at Emma's sudden vow to protect him. "I'm fine." Chris said and finally managed to regain his composure. He didn't need anyone to protect him. He's been fine for a few years anyway. Chris's cell vibrated again. He looked at the reply.

To: Dr. Chris Taylor
From: Dr. John Jackson

Alec was at my house about an hour ago. He did leave suddenly saying he had to go to a Cafe by where you're parents are buried.

Chris's eyes widened. The figure must have been Alec then. He quickly shoved his cell back in his pocket. "He has keepsakes from each kill. I think he has my parents shoes that they were wearing in the car. He doesn't have one for me though." Chris said and paused for a moment. "I'm unfinished business."
