The Oddity

Tucking her hands into her pockets and gazing up at the clouds above, Sonya frowned slightly as a small drop of rain landed on her nose. "Ugh. Rain isn't fun unless your with someone." She muttered under her breath and shifted the collar of her new jacket up to block the sudden burst of wind that blew around the corner of a building as she passed it to cross the street. Side-stepping a bit of trash on the sidewalk, she bumped into a woman on accident. Stumbling slightly, Sonya cast her a sheepish smile with a small shrug. "Sorry, I should have been watching where I was going."

Sonya's eyes widened slightly and she frowned at the woman with her arms folded over her chest. "I bump into you, apologize and you call me creepy? Hardly polite." She mumbled under her breath and cast another glance at the sky before pulling her collar up a little more as another raindrop fell on her head. "Can I ask exactly why do you think I'm creepy? I mean, I've been told I'm weird, out there, and on occasion, impossible, but never creepy." She added curiously, eyeing the woman with sudden interest. She didn't look any different from the people that walked around them, but there was something a bit off about her expression, something that didn't quite fit with what she was used to in humans. "What's your name anyway?"

"I'ma Kat. But... What're you? Cus most people are super predictable, but you're not. Way too many options. And some of them are really...big." She mimics Sonya, crossing her arms and standing in exactly the same way. After a split second of this, she breaks into another grin. "We should go somewhere not outside, I recommend the cafe a few blocks..." She spins and points. "That-a-way!"

Sonya blinked her eyes before lifting her shoulders in another shrug with a nod. "Alright, but I honestly don't get what your poking at." She said before dropping her arms down to her sides once more and stuffing them into her coat pockets. Turning in the direction Kat pointed, she started walking at a faster pace than before as the rain started falling in earnest while they had been talking. "My name is Sonya by the way, just Sonya... I'm not exactly normal either." She added after a moment, glancing over at her companion out of the corner of her eyes with a small grin on her face. "Hence why I've been called impossible before. Considering it was my old doctor that said that... Well it was expected with his surprise, didn't prepare me for his expression though." Lifting her eyes skyward, she shook the hair from them and studied the grey clouds above for a moment. "Come on, might want to hurry, it's about to downpour in a few moments, and I don't care to get soaked to the bone right this second." Sonya added as her strides lengthened into a full-out sprint, her eyes already locked onto the cafe Kat had mentioned.

Kat followed at the same speed, and just a few feet from the cafe, sped up and went into a cartwheel. She ended the cartwheel by the doors of the building and held the door open for Sonya. "Your Doctor sounds incredibly silly, nothing is impossible! Just look at things like sporks and babies."

"Your the one that says I'm creepy because I'm different. Something you haven't seen before, so until now, I was impossible to you." Sonya pointed out keenly, stepping into the warm shop and making her way to a back booth and sitting down. "Impossible is relative to whoever says the word. For instance, I would say it is impossible for someone to just stay in one place for more than a week at a time before moving on to somewhere else and starting all over again. But that's just me." She said with a small grin, leaning back in the seat after taking her damp coat off and draping it over the backrest behind her. Reaching up, she rubbed at her long hair with a frown at the small clumps of hair on top of her head. "It always tangles when it rains, every time, it doesn't matter if I wear a hat or hood or even a diving helmet. I always get that one knot at the back of my head the instant rain starts falling." She sighed and struggled to smooth out the rat with her fingers before giving up and folding her arms on the wooden tabletop and staring at Kat with a bemused look on her face. "So, explain to me exactly how I'm creepy as you say."

She put her feet up on the table, and tipped back in her chair. "You have too many options, you have something most don't... What is that?" Kat looked through a menu while saying this. "Mmmm.. Waffles..." She looked at her wristwatch. "What would you like?" She had thought it best to ignore the comment about moving on, even thought it stung... Well, tickled.

Sonya studied Kat for a moment before shaking her head and leaning back in her chair to shut her eyes. "No, I'm not hungry right now. Won't need to eat for a while anyway, haven't been hopping around like I usually do as much, so I don't use my energy as fast." She said quietly, her eyes opening up to stare at the tiles on the ceiling above her with sudden, intense scrutiny. "I'm not human, so no, I wouldn't expect for you to see something your used to in other people on this planet." She added in a soft undertone, sitting forward again and locking her with a sudden stare, watching for her reaction before moving on. "I'm a Time Lord, I have no set time line because my life exists between this Earth's timeline and another Earth's timeline. I have no real options for what may happen to me next because I make the decisions the second they happen, they aren't made for me like some people. Tomorrow, someone might break a leg, and they can't make the decision to stop it. I on the other hand, break my leg, it won't affect me because another line of my life will intersect and branch off from that moment and create a reality where my leg isn't broken." Sonya said in a rush, pushing on weather the girl understood her or not. It had been too long since she had talked to anyone about being what she was, months since she had last seen Theta, and about a year since she had last seen any version of the Doctor. It had been weighing her down with being so alone without companionship. Before she came here, she had spent so many years on her own without a problem, but now, she craved it, she wanted to have someone nearby. She needed someone to be around to talk to when something odd or interesting popped into her head. Folding her arms behind her head, she leaned back again and glanced away, studying the cafe with curiosity as she let Kat absorb everything she had just said.

She lets her feet drop to the floor and leans forward, looking at Sonya intently. "That makes sense." She smiles. "How can you be a Timelord... Wait, you are female, right?" One eyebrow goes up with the question. This lady, Sonya, was the first really interesting person she had met in a long time.

"In short, I'm not from this planet." Sonya said with another shrug, not really understanding the term herself. "I'm from another one called Gallifrey... I just don't remember it, I was abandoned on Earth a while back when I was just a baby. I don't know what it looks like besides the images another Time Lord gave to me so I could at least know what my birth planet looked like." She chewed on her lip for a moment in thought, her eyes moving away from Kat's face and wandering across the little shop once more before glancing over at her again. "I'm nearly 500 years old. I think, you tend to loose track of your birthdays after you reach 200 or so.."

"500? You don't look to be that old.." She looks Sonya over. "No.. Not at all." Kat takes an apple out of her hoodie pocket, smiling suddenly. "I knew I'd be glad I grabbed you!" She bites into it, and thinks over what she's been told. "So, I'm guessing Timelords are a bit more advanced?"

"I guess so. But honestly, you lot are more advanced than us when it comes to certain things. The only thing that i noticed Time Lords are good at. Is science." Sonya said with a grin, one of her fingers tapping against the table in thought. "And puzzles, very good with puzzles." She added as an afterthought with another nod before leaning back against her chair with a soft sigh. "Anyway, I'm not really any different than you are, honestly. Just a few small changes here and there is all."

"But you're so incredibly different from me! You're all..looky-different and stuff." She takes another chunk out of the apple. "So there a lot of other aliens or stuff on Earth? I mean actively here, not like those times with Christmas and what-not." She suddenly regrets not going to a place with barstools, a spinning chair would be nice right now.

Sonya blinked her eyes then glanced at her hands in thought. "I'm not sure, I know there are other Time Lords that land here from time to time. But there aren't as many of us as there used to be." She said with a small sigh while glancing up at Kat again with a wry smile forced onto her face at the moment. "Listen, I'm not sure why I'm here. But whenever something odd happens around me, usually that means repercussions for everyone that is near me. So I'd suggest kindly for you to just keep your distance from me before you find yourself kidnapped or killed or something."

"But.. There are so many more possibilities around you! If I run off, things will go back to boring as hell." She frowns for the first time today. "Every other human is so infuriatingly boring." Kat drums a beat on the table, not following any particular rhythm.

"I understand that, but I'm not really that entertaining." Sonya protested, her hands thumping on the table softly to emphasize her frustration at Kat. "Look, I'm dangerous to be around. I've seen people I love and care for be hurt because of my presence! One of my closest friends was nearly converted by Cybermen because I had been taken by their planner." She hissed, trying to drive the woman off with anger. Hoping maybe she'd walk off and forget about her. "Another friend of mine had been attacked by Headless Monks because they followed me to the town he lived in. I'm a walking cloud of bad luck, Kat. And if you stick around, that bad luck will wander over to you too."

She stretches in her chair, yawning, then comes to attention suddenly and looks at Sonya with a odd expression. "One day? Just one little span of twenty four? That's all I want." Kat bites into the apple once more.

"Why would you want to follow me around for one day? What on earth could you learn from me in that small moment in time?" Sonya asked her curiously, her anger fading slightly as she studied Kat closely once more, leaning forward in her chair and tilting her head to the side as she did. "You may see me as different, but to me, your the different one. How on earth can you live with only one heart for instance. It has to be impossible, and wandering about this planet with only your own thoughts in your head, doesn't it get lonely?"

Kat mirrored Sonya's actions once more, leaning forward slightly and tilting her head. "Three questions, right? One, I learn quickly. Two, For some odd reason one heart gets the oxygen around fast enough. Three, well.. How could I be lonely with six billion and a few people to bother?"

Sonya frowned slightly at her answers and sat back in her chair, her arms folded over her chest. "Because, even if you can't hear their thoughts, at least feel the contact of another." She defended herself, her voice coming out clipped as she  eyed the woman. "And one heart can't possibly get enough oxygen around your body. Not as much as you should have anyway. It has to be uncomfortable with only one heart pumping all of that through you. I mean, what if it gives out? You only have the one." She added, an eyebrow raising up as she settled herself into the chair more comfortably. "You lot are so confusing to me even, and I've spent nearly every year of my life on his planet. I still don't understand you very well, how your curiosity can get the best of you even when you know it's so easy to hurt yourselves."

Kat shrugs. "I don't have an explanation for human recklessness, but I don't need one, cus it's one of those things that's just part of being alive and seeing something shiny, and wanting to crack it open and see how it works. I can't speak much for the scientific side of us though... I'm more interested in people than anything else. Well, anything except my music."

"Right..." Sonya said before getting to her feet and stretching her arms over her head. "Look, I understand I'm confusing to you and all, but seriously, I have to go. Paris is calling my name and there is a wonderful restaurant that I want to visit before it closes for the night." She said cheerfully before grabbing her bag and coat. Slipping them on, she made her way to the back of the cafe, towards the bathrooms with a little hum following along behind her.

Now that was odd.. Grabbing your things to go to the bathroom? Kat followed just behind Sonya. "Do you speak French, then?" Despite Sonya dismissing her, she continue to follow like a scientist clinging to a new discovery.
