| Kira ran up to the ship, ready to tear it apart like she did with the monastery. She stopped for a second to think: hadn't she done enough damage? She hadn't. These people were monsters, and she would destroy all of them. Come on, you know you don't have the strength to defeat all of them. Why don't you take this ship and run, they won't let you back and, after all, you did defeat the guy that promised you freedom if you defeated him.
She decided she would make a run for it. Luckily, they was no one on board but plenty of space. She set down her pack and went for the controls. She checked the ship's directory and set a course for the only planet nearby: Earth. She began to explore the ship and found a bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen. Then there was the control room. Like the monastery, it was all only 2 colors: white and black.
After a quick nap, she was at the planet. She went out of the cruiser and checked her surroundings. She was at a city, on a rooftop, from what she knew. The city was vast and she saw no end to it. The beauty of it all brought a tear to her eye. How could they take her away from this? She stood on that rooftop, looking at the world. Home. That's where she was. Home.
She took a deep breath of the different air and reparked on the ground. She walked to the streets and looked at the passing citizens. They looked like the monks, yet less dark and... something she didn't understand. They seemed kind and sweet and happy. She wondered what was wrong with them. She noticed that everyone was walking everywhere, not bothering to even glance at her. She tapped a young girl and asked her "Where am I?" The girl looked at her funny and answered "London." She began to walk off. "What year?" Staring at her, the kid replied "2515." She looked at the girl as she started walking off again. Involuntary, Kira yelled "Thanks..." She stared at her until she disappeared into the crowd. A strange red light in the distance in an alley caught her attention. She walked towards it cautiously, ready to grab her swords at any moment. She reached where it seemed to be coming from. She looked around, not seeing anything unusual. She started on her way to find more about this 'London' but she heard a crash and turned around to find a angel statue. The red light flickered, and the statue seemed to move closer. She examined it and found it to be normal. She began to walk off, but she heard something and turned her back. The Angel was definitely closer. She tried her sword. It didn't work. What do you expect, it's a statue! She thought about it for a second. "So if I look away from you, you move. And if I keep looking, you don't? Is that how you work?" She heard a loud sound to her right. She saw another one about 25 feet away. She gulped. Moving stone angel statues? Her swords and knowledge couldn't beat that. She couldn't even try. She looked to her left and saw yet another one about 20 feet away. They were closing in slowly. She couldn't run away, blink, or look away. She could only imagine what they'd do. She thought about when she got her first sword, not knowing how to use it. And when she had to face a dummy that looked very scary. She was afraid. But a monk told her "As long as you don't let the enemies get to you, you are safe. Be brave." She wasn't scared now. She was ready to accept her fate. But she wouldn't go down without a fight.

| Eric stood in the antique shop, his Alpha Meson Blaster raised and ready to fire at the unwelcome would-be criminal stood in front of him. The man in question brandished a rather imposing looking cricket bat, an antique in and of itself in the year 2515. He sighed, trouble always seemed to find him wherever he went. He'd time-jumped to this year of relative peace and quiet on Earth to relax, having entered an antique shop after a bemused glance at an old DVD/VHS Combo player that had been billed as a "Early 21st Century era Military Communications Device" by the manager.
"You'd think the manager of an antique shop would know a little something about the antiques he's selling." he had though, entering the shop and looking around at a delightful collection of mirrors situated near the entrance for a few minutes before a man in a rather shoddily-made identity concealing mask ran in and brandished what appeared to be a plasma weapon of some sort.
This had led to the situation Eric now found himself in, holding a man at gunpoint who at that moment had been holding the shopkeep at gunpoint himself. "Drop it, or I shoot. It's that simple." he said in a rather irritated tone of voice. The amateur stick-up artist froze, a glistening bead of sweat running down his forehead as he clearly struggled to find an equally devil-may care response. "W-who are you? Y-you a cop!?" he said, stammering fearfully in response. "It doesn't matter who I am, I'm holding a gun to you, you have no idea who I am. Therefore you have no idea whether I'm going to shoot or not. I'll be honest, I hate shooting idiots like you, punks who think they can get easy money from an antique shop." Eric replied, a puzzled expression clouding his face as he said this.
"Come to think of it....what kind of person robs an antique shop? Why not a...a convenience store or a....a gardening center or- hell even a book shop would make more sense than an antique shop." he continued, a bemused tone creeping into his voice as he spoke. The man had begun to edge slightly backwards as Eric had voiced his thoughts aloud, he abruptly stopped when a bolt of Alpha Meson energy sailed towards him; just missing his head and hitting a nearby wall, singing it and leaving an inky black burn mark behind.
"Don't, don't do that. You tried to commit a crime, I was here to stop you, I'm not a cop but I am a man with a gun and morals; that makes me more dangerous than you could ever be. So, if I'm pointing a gun at you and relax my aim for a second while I talk, I will do so and you will not run. Because if you do, I promise you I will fire again and I will not miss my mark." Eric smiled slightly as he said this, dropping it as abruptly as he had adopted it. The man gulped and stepped back to where he had previously been stood, panic beginning to rise in him like a cat ready to pounce...or a cobra ready to strike...or....you get the idea.
The would-be criminal's own stupidity and fear mingled and stewed, and before long he convinced himself he could still salvage this situation for himself, avoid going to prison for a very long period of time. He began to run towards Eric, yelling at the top of his lungs. This surprised Eric for a moment, he had seen people do this before when caught in the act and attempting to tackle him was usually a last ditch effort, the mark of a desperate man resorting to a desperate act. Eric was not a man to make idle threats either, so as he began to run towards him he reacted with split second reflexes, calmly pulling the trigger of his Blaster as he aimed at the man's leg.
The would-be criminal fell cursing and screaming to the floor, the impact of his fall causing a mirror to fall off of a nearby shelf and break with a resounding *SMASH*. The man lay still muttering curse words under his breath, his leg having been burned, started bleeding and been cauterised by the blast of energy in mere seconds. Eric turned to the shopkeep, who had stood behind the counter up until this point in silence, a worried expression on his face. "Apologies for the mess....I'd bill him for the damages." he said to the shopkeep, nodding curtly and walking out the door.
Eric turned left down the street, shaking his head to no one in particular and walking at a relaxed pace as he holstered his Blaster, buttoned his overcoat and smoothed his tie. He eventually came to an alleyway, strange red lights coming from it and a woman's voice ringing out. "So if I look away from you, you move. And if I keep looking, you don't? Is that how you work?" it said.
He inched closer to the entrance of the alleyway, peering down it and seeing a strange woman with streaks of black and white in her hair brandishing two swords and surrounded by statues.....wait...statues. Eric stepped into the mouth of the alley, making sure to keep his eyes on the Familiar Forms of The Weeping Angels as they moved whenever the red light flickered and momentarily died, before freezing and turning to stone as it came back on and they were put into view.
"Looks like you need some help!" he called to the strange woman, still keeping his eyes on the Angels. "Don't stop looking at them, they're harmless while you're looking at them, don't even blink....just...try and get past them, come towards me!" he continued, keeping his voice raised so she could hear him.
The light flickered off once more, when it came back on two of the Angels had turned, their blank eyes fixed on him, and their mouths open with a sawtoothed stone grin; as if pleased to see him. "Oh boy..." he whispered.

| Kira didn't want the coming fate. 15 years with kidnappers and now she gets this. She heard footsteps from behind, thinking it was another angel. She'd be trapped if she didn't do something. Then she took a moment to think. None of the statues before had footsteps. She realized someone had come to save her! She heard the man call out to her "Looks like you need some help!" That was undoubtedly true. "Don't stop looking at them, they're harmless while you're looking at them, don't even blink....just...try and get past them, come towards me!" He continued.
She kept looking at them as he said to do, not even blinking. She slowly put her swords in their holsters. She was scared as much as she was when she was five, maybe even more. She took a moment to calm herself. "What will they do to me?" She yelled back at him calmly. The light flickered and they were closer. She began to walk backwards towards him. She called to him "If I blink, look away, or close my eyes, what will they do? And is there anyway to stop them?" She quietly added "I don't want to die today, I just got here..." The angels were smiling at her with sharp teeth, ready to do whatever they did, about 10 feet away from the her and the man. Her heart was beating faster than ever before. Suddenly, the red light turned off for good. Now the monastery on that asteroid with kidnappers didn't sound so bad.

| Eric stepped a bit backwards, trying to explain. "They're Weeping Angels, if they touch you they send you to a random point in the past, feeding off of the energy of the paradox they create, the life you could have lived had they not intervened. Thing is, they're Quantum-Locked which means they cease to exist when you look at them and while they're like this they can't be killed. They're just statues right now which is why they keep on making the light flicker like that!" he said, just as the light plunged the alley into darkness again.
Thinking quickly, he turned the brightness on his Vortex Manipulator's Screen onto maximum, giving off the same amount of light as a powerful torch. He moved his wrist so that the screen was pointing directly where the angels had been moments earlier. The Two Angels stood in front of Eric were frozen in a monstrous position, wings raised and fangs bared; their previously angelic faces contorted by rage and hunger. The light of the screen was just bright enough to reach the end of the alley, where the Angel that had moved in to grab the woman was in a similarly frozen tableau.
"Same rules...still apply, don't blink and don't let them touch you. Keep your eyes on the Angel, try moving past it and towards me. Once we get back out onto the main road they won't try and get to us, too many eyes to see them." he explained, panic just audible in his voice. "Worst thing comes to worst, I use my Vortex-Manipulator to get us the hell out of here and hope to they don't follow." he added, as an afterthought.

| The man told her about "Weeping Angels" and how they work. Kira kept walking backwards until she reached the man. "Got it. But won't they send someone else back if we leave them here? They must have a weakness of some sort!"
She thought back when she was about ten, getting her second blade. She had to defend the monastery from wild animals that seemed to have no weakness. She told one of the monks defending by her side that it was impossible to defeat the creatures. They told her "Everything and everyone has a weakness. It may be hidden, but it will reveal when ready." Kira looked at the man. "Vortex manipulator? Like a... time machine? I learned about stuff like that at. - " She stopped herself. It wasn't smart to be telling the man so much about herself. For all She knew, he may be on the angel's side or working for the monks and ready to take her back and execute her. She shuddered at the thought. Then again... he might just be saving her life. And he didn't have to do that.
The angels coming closer brought her back to her surroundings. She stared at them, not moving. She was as still as a statue... As long as a statue wasn't a "Weeping Angel". She greeted him "I'm Kira Krysta by the way. What's your name?"

| Eric watched as the decidedly strange-looking woman began walking backwards toward him, the Angel she had been pre-occupied with was still frozen and it's two companions were close enough for Eric to be able to see both simultaneously. She finally reached him and introduced herself as "Kira Krysta", asking him his own name. "Eric, Eric Tempore, and in answer to your previous question yes; it's a time-machine of a sort." he answered, still staring at the Angels alongside Kira.
"So, bit of background on those delightful fellows there. Weeping Angels feed off temporal energy, never did find out the exact sort...maybe Artron..? Anyway, back on topic, they're very dangerous and Quantum-Locked to boot as I explained earlier. What that means is that they can't move while we look at them, good for us. What it also means is that they can't be killed or incapacitated besides them being frozen while we look at them, the minute we look away no matter what we do they will still be alive and hungry. Now, from the looks of them right now I'd say they're relatively well-fed, implying a steady food supply. Might have been using this place to lure victims in, might have been moving from place to place the result is the same." he continued, trying to remember all he could.
"Thing is, Time-Travel of any sort can get you involved in all sorts of Temporal Conundrums, meeting your friends and family before they meet you, coming into contact with yourself, learning things about your own personal future, changing things about your own personal future. Basically, time-travellers are like a full three course meal, all of the changes they make as well as the places they travel to mean the Angels are more likely to pursue Time-Travellers; at least in my experience."
"Now, one fatal flaw the Angels have is that Quantum-Locking is very vague in how it restricts them, if anyone looks at them, even themselves then they freeze. It's why they cover their faces with their hands when in view of fellow Angels or mirrors; also how they got the nickname "Weeping Angels." in case you were wondering. Mirrors are an Angel's worst nightmare, you stick a mirror in front of one it's Quantum-Locked forever, or at least they are as long as the mirror is there I suppose." he continued, drawing on all his knowledge of the Angels to explain them thoroughly and quickly to Kira.
A lightbulb suddenly went on in Eric's head, the Antique Shop with all those mirrors. "Ohhh.....I think I feel a plan coming on." he said, a grin exploding across his face. He beckoned to Kira to follow him back onto the main road, inching slowly backwards, eyes still trained on the Angels.

| Kira listened intently to the man who told her his name was Eric. "You've got a plan? Well, so do I." She let a grin escape and looked in her pack. "I never thought I'd be using this for this purpose..." She added as she pulled out a small hand mirror. She angled it to make all the angels see each other. She kept walking backwards, making sure that the mirror was angled correctly with each step. He obviously had a different idea, and she hoped he had mirrors in it. She could use another one, as it was hard to make one mirror make three Weeping Angels see each other or themselves from a distance. She glanced at him and asked "What was your idea?" Thinking of what she noticed earlier, she added "Do you have a mirror or two of your own? I don't think this will stop all of them!" As if one heard her, she found herself 2 inches in front of a angel. She screamed and blinked, and instantly she was in the year 2014, at London, and all alone. "Eric? Hello? Eric? I... I don't see you. Where are you? Eric!"(The end) | |
