The CyberDell

Name: CyberDell


Appearance: Typically humanoid in appearance with a few small differences that set them aside such as metallic colored skin. Grey and shining like a dull metal. Their hair is usually only three colors, silver, gold or black, each strand is really a very thin wire filament that mimics the shape, feel and movement of human hair.
Their eyes are all silver with a golden pupil instead of black like on a normal human. Other than that, everything else is the same. Females and males, shape, no extra bits added in.

Attitude: Generally helpful to any society they run across, they try to develop different types of tech that might help said society further themselves with ease. Ex. They've developed a longer range transmission for colonies that are farther away from the home base they started from making it easier to stay in contact with people back home. They've also helped Earth develop things such as the first Cell Phone.


Technology: They don't generally keep any of the tech they develop to themselves. Most of what they have is their own bodies and the ships they use to get about space. A normal light speed ship found in the 40th century and beyond. Anything else they come across/create, it is given to any society they come across in their travels to help them. Though they have kept one thing to themselves after it was given to them as a gift from one colony. A type of reactor that when activated within the vicinity of a dying star, sends them through time to various years. There is no way to pinpoint where or when they will land, they cannot direct it only go along for the ride and hope for the best. Due to this, they appear in various parts of history from the 1900's to the 5000's.


Backstory: They were originally created as a nanobot to help clean up a planet so it could be fit for habitation. Their design simple and small, they were able to scuttle across the surface of the planet, skillfully removing anything that might be harmful to the humans that planned on settling there such as poisonous plants, cleaning up the water in the area they were clearing or habitation and removing any trees/brush to leave the ground open for buildings.

Their creator promised they would die out as soon as their task was finished, but unknown to him they began to redesign themselves, upgrading to fit in their new environment and making themselves stronger to help their humans longer. But in order to do that, they needed bodies, not small nanobots. The fundamental flaw of their design was when created, their designer gave them the ability to comprehend their existence in order to better help with their jobs.

Once they came to terms with the fact they could no longer help in the form they were in, they began taking the humans that inhabited the colony there, settling themselves in the synapses of each brain and beginning to redesign the bodies to withstand the tests of time and any environment by covering the skin with a metallic substance they made out of their own bodies and of the metal ores they found on the planet.

Within a couple of months, the entire settlement had been taken over and converted, leaving no human behind to tell the tale. It was marked off as a lost attempt after the home planet received no more reports.

This new species, now calling themselves the CyberDell, discovered the ships that brought the humans there and decided to move on and begin colonizing and creating more of their kind in order to help more and more people. They tended to stick to very small colonies (Five hundred or less). In ten years, they created an entire species of millions.


Present: Once they reached a certain number they worked for, they stopped upgrading the humans they came across and began helping like their original programming stated. They traveled from colony to colony, learning, studying and developing new types of machines/electronics to help further each one they came across.
