"-That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." - William Shakespeare

To most anyone else, the scene would not be unusual... well, not too unusual. A quiet park at dusk, most people heading home or too wrapped up in their own business to pay attention to anything outside of their little modern bubbles. The age of technology was indeed isolating... not that it really mattered in the end, anyways.

At least, that was what Alice believed. Of course, she could really care less about most people. They didn't tend to like her, so why waste the energy and patience pretending to like them back? Her parents were an exception to this, of course, because while they knew her situation was strange and otherworldly, it couldn't be helped... and she seemed to be doing just fine, so as long as their daughter was happy and (relatively) healthy, they couldn't complain. Even if she did have odd conversations with something they couldn't hear or see.

As the orange light of sunset lit glass windows on fire, it also illuminated a tiny, long-coated figure settled on a bench in aforementioned park. Her toes barely skirted the ground as she leaned back against the curved, rubber-coated metal of the bench. Good gosh, she was tired... how long had she been out? It couldn't have been too long, and Alice never walked too long a distance. Oh well... might as well rest for a few minutes before getting a cab home.

Alice... don't fall asleep.

Now you talk?

I thought you wanted to be alone.

She chuckled to herself, which seemed odd, considering her lack of company. She reached up and stroked the back of her neck with one hand, feeling the equivalent of a mental purr from her tiny companion.

Well, that was completely normal.

Jennifer strolled into a park once again contemplating what had happened to her. Not only had she lost her husband twice but now her friends Theta and the Doctor were mad at her.
Not that she blamed them, she had tried to change a fixed point of time without any regard of the consequences. Now she had to deal with the fallout avoiding her daughter, the news of what really happened to her father would only upset her.
Sighing Jennifer looked around the park for some company her loneliness grew worse as she saw a young woman sitting on a wooden bench. The odd gestures only made her curious.
"Mind if I sit by you? I've had a long day." Jennifer asked as usual she did not wait for a response and sat down lazily.

Alice gave a soft sigh, immediately ceasing the actions when Jennifer neared. "Fine. I'm leaving soon, anyways," she answered, moving to the other side of the bench. What the hell was this woman thinking, just coming up to a kid in the park? While Alice was really almost 17, she was frequently mistaken for much, much younger, as she was only 4'9". Even if this strange woman did think she was older, Alice wasn't here to make any sort of friend.

Probably just an extrovert, Alice. They can't stand going without other people. They're not our enemies, just our oppposites... but yes, I saw the look, too.

Acting natural, Pisca. Don't worry about it.

Jennifer hesitated a moment trying to find a way to encourage the girl. She reminded her of her daughter who always had her nose in a book and did not care for social interaction at first. Thinking about the way she had sat down, now Jennifer regretted being rude. Now it was getting quite dark out the girl really should be concerned about being alone in the city at night.

"I'm Jennifer, Sorry about being rude you just remind me of someone I lost. Its getting dark out to be safe can I walk with you to your home?" Jennifer had the sense that the park was a little too quiet making it feel eerie.

"No. I'm sorry for your loss, but I have no reason to trust you," was the deadpan, curt answer from Alice. While she was at least polite about Jennifer having lost someone, this sickly girl was very defensive of herself. Unbeknownst to Jennifer, she was protecting two people instead of just one... if Pisca counted as a person instead of simply a separate mental entity.

Speaking of Pisca, he was cautiously approaching Jennifer's mind, trying to get a read on her, see if it was safe for Alice to be around her or not. He knew that Alice stood no chance in any sort of fight, so he had to do his part to defend his host. However, he quite liked Alice, so this was genuine protectiveness instead of mere defensiveness over a food source.

"Fair enough, I'm just worried because the park does not seem quite empty I follow my instincts they saved my life many times." Jennifer explained hoping she was wrong but the sense of dread only grew.
Maybe she was being paranoid with all the monsters Jennifer had met recently but she would rather protect everyone rather then fail again. A man passed by but he was wearing a patch she recognized.
"Torchwood" Jennifer hissed she had met them before during the canary wharf business they had refused to release her daughter after claiming she was involved. If they found about her time traveling there would be trouble.
"I'm going to distract that man, you need to run home, be safe." Jennifer hoped the girl would believe her as she grasped her cane tightly in anticipation.

"...?" Alice arced an eyebrow, not really understanding what this woman was trying to accomplish. If there was anyone threatening in the area, Pisca would know. After almost nine years together, Alice trusted the neuroparasite more than almost anyone.

What was this lady's deal? Torchwood knew about Alice. Hell, she acted as translator for them sometimes, whenever a new language appeared that their universal translator didn't know. She also provided a means to communicate with aliens that didn't use verbal language, and couldn't communicate properly with the much more psi-null humans that typically worked at Torchwood.

"I don't know what you're thinking, but that man's not a threat. There isn't even anyone else here."

"Are you sure?" Now Jennifer was getting worked up and angry at all the world.
"they practically kidnapped my daughter and I'm sure they would want to know what The Doctor has been up to"
"Well I'll you what he's not doing, saving the person I cared about most, taking me on adventures!" Now she was pacing and ranting all her energy spent on being bitter.
Sighing in frustration she stopped standing in the middle of the sidewalk.
"I'm sorry I just wanted something to distract me I guess. Here Is The Doctor's number its important that if anything happens you contact him, I do not trust Torchwood. I guess I should go before I make things worse again." Jennifer embarrassed sat down again quietly to calm down.

Now, Alice seemed... bored. She shifted forwards, and pushed herself up to stand, her face creasing lightly in a frown as she straightened up to her full, impressively short height, pulling her long coat tighter around her thin frame.

"You're more behind the times than you think. Torchwood doesn't have time to chase after the Doctor. There's too many new species for them to keep track of, and excessive amounts of trouble appear to follow him... they don't think he's really worth the trouble..." she said, taking a few steps away from Jennifer.

"Terrific, I had to time travel to the wrong date its been only three months for me since canary wharf." Jennifer thought aloud now she was in trouble.
"I don't suppose Torchwood would give me a ride back?" Really Jennifer wanted an escape plan so that she would not have to deal with all her problems.
"I'm going to go find out have a good night." Jennifer snuck behind the Torchwood agent and began following him away from the park.

What on earth was that woman taking? She must be on a special pill... either way, it wasn't Alice's problem. Both she and Pisca were confused, but they didn't know this Jennifer woman. They weren't related to her, nor did they have any obligations. If she wanted to act stupid and get herself arrested, that wasn't their problem to deal with.

Pisca...

Yes, I know. She made the mistake of travelling with that Doctor fellow we keep hearing about... I swear, he'd better not come after you, next. If he does...

It'd be better than Torchwood. Besides, what life do I have, here? Aside from my parents, but it isn't like they're ever home, anyways...

Either the agent was not very good at picking out a tail or he was being purposely ignorant as he walked towards the hidden Torchwood base. Jennifer cautiously followed ready with her "innocent civilian" act if she was caught. Her decisions were becoming more and more rash as she desperately tried to not dwell on her recent memories. It did not even occur to her that there may be a silent alarm tripped as she approached.
"Hand where I can see them." someone shouted as more agents appeared surrounding her.
Jennifer did as instructed maybe bluffing would work? "Can you explain what this about?" she asked wishing she had called for backup.

The helmet dinged and buzzed, the antennas on top of it homing in on a signal and alerting its wearer of a nearby presence. The Doctor spun, turning on one heel as he peered through the light green glasses attached to the end of the front of the helmet. Looking up, The Doctor peered around before landing his eyes on the form of a person sitting on a nearby bench. The dusk was thick, the morning dew making it hard for The Doctor to see without use of his multipurpose helmet he created. Reaching to the side of the helmet, The Doctor turned one of the dials, adjusting the scope of sight in the glasses, "Much better..." he mumbled to himself.

Slowly walking over to the bench, The Doctor peered around him, looking over his shoulder and behind him he kept a wide eye open at all times. The closer he got to the bench the more he could see it was a teenage girl, possibly younger due to her overall size. Through his glasses The Doctor could see a tiny light swirling around in the girls mind, his eyebrows arching upward at the sight, "Ooohh...now what's that" he hissed. Taking a quick two steps forward, The Doctor leaped over and onto the bench, landing down beside the girl, his wide eyes looking at her through the glasses attached to the helmet. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you..just wondering..have you seen any Pranavores hovering around here lately? You know, just hovering around..?".

Alice jumped when the Doctor leaped up onto the bench, letting out a small squeak. For just a second, the little light in her mind grew incredibly bright before seeming to settle down once more. However, her reply was even more surprising.

"Pranavores? They don't really come to earth that often..." she said, not seeming to quite realize that she shouldn't know what a Pranavore was. Oh, this was someone in her mid to late teens, judging by the voice. However, she was so small, and the hand that peeked out of her too-large coat was very pale and thin. That, and something was brushing against the Doctor's mind. Something coming from Alice.

The Doctor arched his eyebrow, one eye fixed on Alice and the other trailing off to the foggy concrete path leading away from the bench. When the girl mentioned information about the Pranavores however, The Doctors attention fully shifted to her. "Now how do you know about Pranavores? Hmmm?" The Doctor asked, "A normal person wouldn't even notice them. Just the casual alien passing over but from how you just explained them...its a normal thing". His mind worked as his mouth spoke and his consciousness became more and more aware of a slight tingling sensation on the right side of his head.

Inside of his mind, The Doctors consciousness awaited the arrival of the guest known as Pisca; crossing his arms as he waited patiently. Externally, The Doctor stood up from the bench and adjusted the settings on his helmet to try and see past the fog, "These readings are really weird.." he mumbled, "Last time i picked up signals like this.....was there someone else with you?! Recently?".

"Uh... I... there was an older woman... but she left a bit ago..." she said, her voice trailing off, "A-as for the Pranavores... I... um..." Stammering horribly, she seemed to give up on saying anything, clearly at a loss for what to do. She didn't know how to explain how she knew something no human should.

Meanwhile, Pisca quietly manifested himself in the Doctor's mind. He was barely there, not even taking on much of a silhouette. Just enough so that he could talk, though the feeling  of intent, wary eyes boring into the Doctor could be easily felt.

"Time Lord... what's one of your kind doing on earth?" He asked in a voice that was a bit androgynous... and young. Then again, being a hermaphrodite, it wasn't surprising. The fact that he was asking such a question was surprising enough, as he himself should be in Andromeda or the M-71 galaxy of the Pisces constellation. Only a Neuroparasite would mentally manifest itself so thinly, yet still get such a steady, strong voice across.

Meanwhile Jennifer was staring down the person asking her questions in stony silence refusing answer any questions. She was waiting for a chance to distract the guard she had noticed the complicated gadgets on the agents wrists.
"I have a suggestion ", the agent told her "You tell us how you time travelled back to 2006 from 1988 and we will give you a free ride back to your time."
Jennifer shook her head again "I know how this works I tell you everything and then I end up with my memory erased because I know too much. You let me walk out of here and I may be a good informant. I know how to defend myself and no one notices an old woman."
The agent seemed to think a moment and then muttered something into a radio nodding in agreement. With a snap of his fingers Jennifer was escorted out with a sigh of relief. Jennifer wondered if she should head to the park to talk to the girl again, there was something off about her.

Once The Doctor had the information he needed about the woman, he turned swiftly on his heel and bolted in the direction he was instructed. Don't mind me..just running about. Saving the Earth, traveling back in time saving it again. The usual The Doctor replied to Pisca, But the real question is why are you here. I mean you see parasites everywhere on Earth..but not your kind. Long way from Andromeda aren't we?.

While the majority of his mind focused on the presence of Pisca, the rest narrowed on in the older woman the girl had told him about. The fog parted to reveal a nearby building, the windows darker than the night itself and an apparent lack of care could be seen on the exterior, "Torchwood" The Doctor mumbled, looking through his helmets glasses which read to him the electromagnetic pulses coming from the building itself, "Not exactly out of the way or hidden...hmm." Could you ask your host if she heard a car spin off? [i/] The Doctor asked Pisca, closing his eyes to concentrate on the psychic link, [i]Sorry, love to chat but i think there might be something going on here...guessing from the lack of Pranavores around here it can't be good. Usually this is mating season..or is it next month..can't remember

I'm here on accident. I'm the only one... and we didn't hear any cars spin off. As for the Pranavores, that's next month. Time Lords 'just running about'? Don't make me laugh... really, though. Last I heard you lot were warring... don't remember with who, though. Oh, don't worry about Torchwood. They've given up on you. You aren't worth the trouble to them, any more. Alice and I have been there ourselves... without a memory wipe.

Alice had quietly followed the Doctor at a distance, not being quite up to running about. That, and the harder Pisca had to work to keep a mental line of communication going, the more strain it put on Alice. Therefore, it only made sense to follow the Doctor. At least, to them. Pisca hadn't mentioned this little tidbit. However, it seemed that Alice and Pisca had a connection with Torchwood... not a good or bad one. Just a connection.

Just as Jennifer was about to leave she spotted two familiar people the girl she had met earlier and The Doctor. Fortunately she had only met the man with the trench coat briefly, with all the running around she hoped to repair some mistakes.
Jennifer approached quietly in way of apology "Trouble again?" she asked them both with a slight grin. She still struggled with the concept of two separate men being the same person but put it down as a weird alien thing.
"unfortunately someone got the time wrong." Jennifer teased glancing at the Doctor trying to reduce the tension hanging in the air.
