Bit Of A Detour Empty
PostSubject: Bit Of A Detour   Bit Of A Detour I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 21, 2015 9:10 pm

Robin shivered, rolling over in her sleep to hit a bit of railing. She jolted awake, eyes snapping open in horror. Either that was a really horrible, horrible nightmare, or...

Shakily pushing herself to her feet, she reached out and grasped for the railing beside her, leaning on it like her life depended on it. Her other hand rushed to her abdomen, and she sighed in relief at the lack of hole there.

"Did.. Did that work, are..." Robin looked around, noticing for the first time how dark the TARDIS looked. This wasn't good at all. "Theta..."

She still had yet to process any of this. It was... it was too much. As far as she cared, he hadn't murdered a soul. He... That.... That reality was gone now, right? But that left the question of... where were they now? She didn't know what to do. Robin slowly sat back on the ground, staring numbly towards the bottom of the console. "... Theta?"

PostSubject: Re: Bit Of A Detour   Bit Of A Detour I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 21, 2015 9:38 pm

The first thing he saw when he woke up, was black. Well, not entirely black; the ceiling flashed with little neon lights, like fireflies. It took Theta a moment to recognize that those were the fish of the TARDIS. And that he was laying on a cool, hard surface; wood, if they were in the TARDIS. But why was he on the floor of the TARDIS...?

It all came rushing back at once. Robin, the one of the future, wild eyed and terrified. Glaug, as large and brutish as he remembered, jamming a cylindrical murder weapon into his shoulder. Hearing a boom, like the sound barrier being broken, then... unconsciousness. He sat up with a start at all the sudden rush of memories, but instantly regretted it, as he felt his shoulder twinge painfully around the cylinder weapon he'd been stabbed with. At least it hadn't been Robin's abdomen this time, he thought with a smirk of satisfaction, though this certainly didn't feel great. The cylinder fell out with a wet clunk.

"Robin, you there...? I think I might be injured..." he grit his teeth and closed his eyes against the wave of pain in his shoulder (luckily, it was just his right shoulder, the one with far fewer nerves), lying back down on the cool wooden floor. But, despite the injury, Theta couldn't be happier. They'd done it. They'd really done it. Robin was alive.

At the sound of Theta's voice, Robin perked up, stumbling over herself to get to the other side of the console. It hit her like a ton of bricks when she saw his shoulder, and the pointy stick thing, bloodied and rolling to the side. Oh. She'd nearly forgotten.

Crouching next to him, she made to try to do something about his injury, but really had no idea what she could do other than sort of... not touch it. "I.. I'm so sorry Theta I didn't' mean for you to.." Robin murmured, the guilt crushing her more than her death did. He didn't need to get hurt like this. At least he'd be okay, but.... "I'm sorry," She repeated, unsure she had any other words to give him.

Looking up, she felt a pang of guilt for the poor TARDIS, too. She didn't mean for all this too happen. Everyone was getting broken and over her? That wasn't fair. She wasn't being fair. "I'm so sorry...." Tears threatened to spill, but she dared not let herself do that. Not now. Not after all this. She didn't deserve that. They didn't deserve it.

PostSubject: Re: Bit Of A Detour   Bit Of A Detour I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 21, 2015 10:11 pm

It took a moment to push past the pain, but when he did, Robin was suddenly beside him, apologizing over and over again. For what, he didn't know. He blinked at her blearily, attempting to sit up using his useful shoulder. He didn't make it very far, though, before his shoulder flared up again, and new paths of orange dribbled down the arm of his coat. He layed back down.

"I... pain. Killers. n' stuff..." his hand hovered over the hole, wanting to grab at it instinctively, but knowing that it'd hurt. A lot. He closed his eyes again, as if the action would help matters "S' n' the med bay? N'... skin mend. Thing. Shou be good them. Then"

Should he have worried about where they were? Probably.

(wooo I'm bad at this. I'm just kinda writing whatever it seems. Hopefully we can get back on the plotline track with the help of some futuristic painkillers and wound menders B) )

PostSubject: Re: Bit Of A Detour   Bit Of A Detour I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 21, 2015 10:23 pm

Robin nodded, moving quickly towards the last place she remembered the med bay to be. She didn't quite know much about medicine, and normally she'd rely on Lady to help her get the right stuff, but at the moment it seemed the poor ship was a bit down for the count. Poor girl. She sighed, her voice far too watery for her liking, and began to rummage.

This was all her fault, wasn't it? It really was. She shouldn't have been so selfish, she was just going to die and that was it. Why couldn't she just... accept that? Robin sniffled, reading over a box and struggling with the terminology. She was being so stupid. It was hard to not just sit there and mourn all the stupid things  she'd caused. Theta was injured and the poor, poor TARDIS.. she had no idea what kind of state she might be in, but she hoped that since the translator seemed to be working, she wasn't completely a lost cause. Oh but all these paradoxes and screw ups... It was going to be difficult facing either of them.

Hurrying back, several possible medicines under her arms, Robin crouched back down near Theta's shoulder, resisting the urge to let her tear ducts spill. "S-So what, then? I, uh. I d-don't really know what any of this is," she spoke softly, afraid the waver in her voice would be far too apparent otherwise. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

As Robin hurried away to get painkillers and a skin mender, Theta was left with nothing to do but stare at the ceiling; he couldn't move much without the risk of his shoulder bleeding more, after all.

There was something... off about this picture, he knew it. It was rather dark, wasn't it? It was dark often in the TARDIS, but he could've sworn that it wasn't anywhere close to the TARDIS's artificial night when they had last been in here. Unless they'd been unconscious for that long...? But no, even if that much time had passed, it wouldn't be that dark in here... something was wrong with Lady.

Robin was back, now, carrying an armload of medical machines over, one of them, thankfully, the skin mender. But no pain killer in sight. Ohhh boy. Theta glanced over at the mender, reaching for it but knowing that, in the end, it'd be next to impossible for him to do this himself.

"I's gotta butt'n on the top, easy. Jus... runit. Runit? Overrr" he was losing blood now, wasn't he? He certainly sounded delirious enough. Was he delirious? Heh, that word sounded funny. Delerrrious. There was something important though, right, that he was forgetting...? Something important. Something about deer? It started with an L, maybe.

Robin gulped, grabbing the little box and pen looking thing. The pen had a button on it, was that what he meant? She moved the box over and got the pen uncurled from the cord. "A-Alright...?" She moved his jacket over his shoulder, trying to get most of the sticky orange mess out of the way. It made her sick. "I-I, uh..." She didn't really know if he was in a state to sit up and help her. But she couldn't just run the thing over his shirt, now could she? She tried to carefully pull his sleeve down, just to get that part of his arm exposed. Grabbing some of the gauze she was immeasurably grateful for, she wiped up some of the excess and just..... ran it over.

It made a loud, strange noise when she pushed the button - which startled her into dropping it, the first time. But it was working, probably. She ran it over his wound with a grimace. "Y-You gonna be okay?" Honestly she wasn't quite sure he would be, but she'd be damned if he died like this. She really could not live with that.

Bit Of A Detour Empty
PostSubject: Re: Bit Of A Detour   Bit Of A Detour I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 21, 2015 11:25 pm

Theta was far gone into aimless, delerious thoughts of deer and the such when Robin ran the mender over his wound. She didn't know; how could she? But as layers of muscle and skin replaced themselves like magic, the exposed nerve endings all sent one message; ow. Theta gave a sort of half-yell, half-moan, clutching at his shoulder that was now (thankfully) healed. It would be sore for a while, of course, but menders were very handy tools, being able to mend flesh and bone in seconds, like duct tape for the body.

"Ouch. I... thanks, Robin" what else could he say, really, when he'd just put Robin through a situation like that, albeit unwillingly? He decided to say nothing at all, sitting up from where he'd been sprawled out on the floor, and using the console's edge to get to his feet. He suppressed a shudder as he saw just how much blood he'd lost without realizing, when he'd been in his delirious state. He shrugged his coat off carefully, throwing it in a pile a foot or two from the orange-y puddle. There was no saving that coat... oh well. It'd lasted long enough.

As he turned away from the old jacket, Theta realized something very crucial; the TARDIS's white point star... it was dim. It was never dim, not ever, not till now, when it looked barely more than a luminescent chunk of rock, suspended in an hourglass. Theta looked at it with distress. The only time it would be like that (theoretically, it'd never happened before), would be if there was no rift energy for the TARDIS to run off of. Which meant either they'd gone too long without a charge (unlikely), or... they were somewhere that had incompatible energy, energy that the TARDIS couldn't take in. But the only place where that could happen...

Oh, no. They were in another universe, weren't they?

Theta glanced over at Robin, worry crossing his features. He thought for a moment about not telling her and letting her think everything was okay, but no, he'd already lied far too much. No more lying.

"We might have taken a bit of a detour..."

(hope you don't mind me using the thread title?)

Bit Of A Detour Empty
PostSubject: Re: Bit Of A Detour   Bit Of A Detour I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 21, 2015 11:43 pm

"... Detour?" Robin asked, voice sounding far more empty than it should be. She found herself unmoving, unblinking. Just kind of... staring. At all that blood.

It was far too much and she could feel the gates flooding. A tear trickled down her cheek, and she wiped it away before it became known. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. This was all her fault, if she'd just have not died, or not tried to fix it or.... She shouldn't have asked for this. But she certainly didn't deserve to feel sorry for herself. And as much as she wanted to just say it, and repeat it over and over and over... Sorry wasn't good enough for this.

Still, she couldn't quite find it in herself to stand up anymore. "Where've we gone, then?" Her voice was quiet. Empty. She felt numb. Whatever waver was there was gone, because she couldn't let herself do this. She was pushing it already. Just stand up. Idiot. Stupid. Get up. You're being stupid. Fix it. Get up. Stupid. What point was there to trying to be okay if she couldn't manage the act?

"Er..."

Theta turned around, catching sight of how Robin wasn't standing, though not fully understanding just how distressed she was. He frowned, but continued anyways, though he spoke as if he were trying to tiptoe around his words.

"We... might be in a different universe?"

There wasn't really any might about it, but it just... sounded better, that way. Anything to make the situation seem less bad. Even though Theta had dealt with different universes before, it wasn't ever good to find yourself in one... well, unwillingly, that is.

(sorry it was short :O didn't know what else to say)

Robin nodded, forcing her eyes away from the blood and forcing her mind away from the unnerving dimness of the room. "I have a feeling you don't mean "might"," She joked halfheartedly, making an effort to stand up and be less of a deadweight. "Exactly how bad is that for us, then?" Shifting uncomfortably, she struggled to keep - or to make, even - eye contact with Theta. She felt something pulling on her, dragging her down. As much as she wanted to say sorry it just didn't feel right. It felt like something he wasn't going to want to hear.

"More importantly, what do we do about it?"

PostSubject: Re: Bit Of A Detour   Bit Of A Detour I_icon_minitimeSun Jul 26, 2015 6:02 pm

"It's not... that bad. Parallel Universes are basically the same to home, just with a few minor changes, so we can leave the TARDIS if we want. But in terms of getting home..."

Theta rubbed at the back of his neck with worry. He did have a universe hopping device somewhere in here (luckily enough), though there was no telling if it would work. And it definitely wouldn't work if they couldn't get the TARDIS charged to full power, somehow. If she wasn't, there would be no way they'd be able to make the trip alive... heck, none of them would survive it!

"First of all, we need to find a way to charge Lady up. She's not dead, but she won't last too much longer if we sit here"
Theta headed for the door, plan forming in mind "If we can open a rift, somehow, she should be able to absorb the energy. It's either that or drain a sun, but I don't think we're going to be able to do that anytime soon..."

He opened the door; bright sunlight streamed in from outside, Earth sunlight. He stepped out cautiously, not knowing what this universe would be like. Though... it looked fairly normal. Just like Cardiff, actually. Was this Cardiff? He stepped out, looking around with curiosity.

"Well, at least it's not too alien? Oh, wait. Waiiiit" Theta turned around, grinning in relief at Robin "We are the luckiest aliens here! Cardiff has a rift right under it, which meannnns, Lady must be already charging! Ahah, thank you, universe!"

PostSubject: Re: Bit Of A Detour   Bit Of A Detour I_icon_minitimeSun Jul 26, 2015 6:13 pm

Robin raised an eyebrow, a ghost of a smirk on her lips. All his cheerfulness, despite the horror they'd just been through, was certainly going to rub off on her sooner or later. She could deal with the guilt when it wasn't so inconvenient. "Luckiest aliens, indeed. Perhaps we should take a trip to Vegas next, cash in on all our-" A screech echoed above them, and Robin stopped in her stride to leave the ship. Peeking out cautiously, her heart doubled its speed as she spotted a dark streak zoom across the sky. From all this use, she reckoned her heart was probably the strongest muscle in her body, at this point. It zipped past again, and she noticed a distinct lack of screaming from the people below. Either this was a normal occurrence, which was quite frightening, or perhaps everyone was dead. What a tragic turn of events - although she figured it was inevitable after she'd gotten half way through jinxing them.

"... Luck."

Bit Of A Detour Empty
PostSubject: Re: Bit Of A Detour   Bit Of A Detour I_icon_minitimeMon Jul 27, 2015 6:52 pm

Theta backpedaled into the TARDIS in surprise as a large... thing, zoomed above them, the air trailing behind it ripping as if a small jet had just flown by. It was obviously not any man-made jet, however, judging by the way it spun around lazily, like a type of giant hawk, far out there on the horizon. It started to back in their direction.

Theta backpedaled more, so that he was fully in the TARDIS, only close enough the watch the dark shape grow steadily larger as it headed in their direction. It gave another loud screech; it sounded like an eagle, but more... terrifying? That was probably the word. It didn't take long for it to get just close enough for Theta to discern what it might be. Large, leathery wings catching the wind, a snout dotted with pitch black scales, a spiked tail flapping in the wind like a flag behind it...

"Is that a dragon??"

Theta whisper-yelled this to Robin with panic, looking between her and the approaching beast, as if asking 'do you see this too??'

Bit Of A Detour Empty
PostSubject: Re: Bit Of A Detour   Bit Of A Detour I_icon_minitimeMon Jul 27, 2015 7:08 pm

"Don't be ridiculous, dragons are from fairy tales, right?"

The dark streak swooshed past once more, and it was at this point Robin considered it might be circling them. "Right?" She asked, more to convince herself than anyone else. Then again, even if it wasn't a dragon, it could be something far worse... "Okay, then what do we do about it? Still can't leave but what if we just... sort of hid out in here, hm? I vote for that option," she whispered back, voice laced with panic.

From the corner of her eye though, she could see a sort of laser dot. Like the kind from those rifles in the movies except much.. much larger. The dragon seemed to be attracted by it momentarily, and it swooped down towards it, having no regard for the buildings it smacked on its way. The crumbling sound of falling bricks did not give her confidence. A tapping on her arm caught her attention - although not necessarily positively. She yelped in surprise, but a hand soon covered her mouth in warning. "This way, quickly, if you feel like living more than 5 minutes." The woman seemed to know what she was talking about, and clearly wasn't wasting time waiting for them to make a decision, as she rushed back some other direction as quietly as she could manage.

Robin wasn't about to turn her down - that thing looked big enough to eat the entire ship, if it wanted. Probably wouldn't survive the meal but it didn't mean they would either. Elbowing Theta, she scurried out after the mysterious stranger, heart pounding as she heard another screech echo across the area.

Bit Of A Detour Empty
PostSubject: Re: Bit Of A Detour   Bit Of A Detour I_icon_minitimeMon Jul 27, 2015 7:31 pm

Theta quickly hurried after the mysterious woman that had snuck up without their knowing, sparing a worried glance back at the TARDIS as he and Robin followed left her. Lady would be fine, hopefully. But he was more concerned at the moment about where this woman was taking them... but he wasn't just about to ask, when there was a huge behemoth of a dragon not to far away, one that would probably snap them up as soon as it grew bored with the giant laser dot.

They stepped onto a patch of sidewalk, and for a moment, nothing happened... this greatly worried Theta, as weren't they supposed to be getting away from the dragon? But after a second or two, there was a click, and the sidewalk started to lower into the ground; the rest of the sidewalk stayed in place, as it moved to eye-level, then to somewhere above their heads; in front of them, there was some metal shaft of sorts... it was like they were on an elevator. An odd, secret sidewalk elevator. The sight of the metal walls quickly faded into the dark, however, as a new sidewalk panel replaced the one they'd taken down. They seemed to have made it down right in time, for there was a muffled screech from outside not seconds after the panel had slid back into place. The metal shaft rumbled with the force of an impact somewhere, as if a building had been knocked down. ...knowing how big that dragon was, that was probably the case.

"What is this place? What was that doing on Earth, more importantly?" Theta turned to where he thought the woman was (he could make out vauge outlines), his voice bouncing around in the small 'elevator'. Wait no, that was Robin he was facing, wasn't it? Why was there an elevator in the sidewalk anyways?

PostSubject: Re: Bit Of A Detour   Bit Of A Detour I_icon_minitimeThu Jul 30, 2015 9:56 pm

"Torchwood. But don't be concerned, we've dropped our threats against the Doctor years ago. You're safe here," the woman spoke nonchalantly, stepping out into the light of the room as soon as the elevator opened its doors. Robin's heart beat worriedly in her chest, extremely distrusting of the organization. She made a point to keep close to Theta.

"I do hope it is safe to assume that you're him. The remodel through us for a bit of a loop. Sorry we didn't get to you sooner," She continued, heels clacking on the hard floors intimidatingly. She had yet to look them in the eye. There was something a tad off about her accent. Not quite Cardiff. Perhaps more London. Certainly not a local her whole life. "We've got the city on lockdown as best we can, but we need your help, Doctor." She spun around, looking him straight in the eyes.

Robin raised an eyebrow, looking between the rather tall lady and her friend. The Doctor? It took her a moment to remember that he was, in fact, sort of the Doctor. Just not quite from the right universe. Maybe this was his universe. That thought kind of left her wondering, actually. Although it couldn't be, she supposed, if he left. That was if you didn't take time travel into consideration. Gosh she kept complicated company. Her attention was grabbed by the monitor they'd been lead to. It seemed they were keeping track of the dragon - rather closely, as they even managed to read a few vital signs. Seeing it in its full size was a bit alarming. They just managed to outrun that thing? With a laser? She was fatally curious about how they knew so much about this thing, but was just a bit cautious for her life to speak up in such an environment.

Doc...tor...? Theta got an odd look in his eyes, nodding absentmindedly to the woman's ask for help. It was probably wrong of him, to say that he was the Doctor, but he couldn't just say they'd come from another universe, could he? And while the fate of the Timelords was unknown here, if he just said he was a different Timelord, that might result in... undesirable results.

Plus. It sent bursts of guilty pleasure through his hearts to be looked up to like the Doctor was.

Composing himself quickly, as if stepping into the Doctor's shoes (only for a bit, his rational mind told him), Theta hurried over to look over the screens showing the live video of the dragon they'd just managed to escape. Now that they could get a good look at the thing, it looked even more dangerous than before, with spikes lining its back and tail, like a living pincushion. It's scales were deep black, and no matter how he looked at it, they didn't seem to be penetrable, or to have any cracks. As he watched, it crashed into yet another building, sending bricks flying dangerously close to one of the cameras. The bricks didn't even seem to leave a dent on the dragon's hide, and any marks on it were simply dust from the bricks, next to no scratches.

How on earth was he supposed to help them with this thing??

"Okay, so, uh..." Theta turned around, reminding himself to sound and look confident, a feat that was getting a little harder now that he'd seen a clearer picture of the beast they were facing up against. Many sets of eyes were staring at him, questioning what to do (as if he were actually the Doctor)... he wasn't sure if he was happy or terrified about that fact. He straightened up.

"Obviously, this thing's scales are too, er, protective to penetrate. Does anyone know how vulnerable it is on the inside, or possibly what its food source is?"

The woman nodded, pushing a few buttons to bring up a diagram of what they knew of the creature. "I assume you want to poison it. We were hoping to get it out of here unharmed. It's only a baby, a Thirmidon. This place is too small, too cramped. It's panicking. It got here through the rift and we need your help to get it back. Hopefully without cramming a harmful toxin down it's throat," she finished, leaving him to look at the diagram nontheless. It didn't show very much, other than that it was fairly obvious the diagram was not of this particular dragon. The one in the image seemed much more mature, but was labeled with very few notes. Just a couple of vital organs pointed out, that they could locate. Robin was still impressed - perhaps this alternate universe was a bit more advanced in terms of the space race. She was curious to know if they were close to space crafts yet.

"Okay, so um. Hi sorry, probably not relevant and shouldn't be interrupting but I am already here and uh," She cleared her throat awkwardly, flinching at the stares directed at her now. "Anyway. Not important. I can't help but wonder why's it not been moved yet? I mean if you can guide it with that uh. I don't know, giant laser pointer? Maybe try to get it into like a clearing or away from the public at least?" The longer the silence drone on, the more she realized this was probably an impossible plan, that apparently was fairly obvious to everyone else. "Yeah ok or... maybe not..." Robin looked down towards her hands awkwardly and scratched at her thumb.
