"The middle of May. Nearly four months without seeing that bloody, intolerable man." Amy Pond ran her fingers through her bright red hair, staring at the notebook sitting patiently on her desk. Nothing to write, no stories to tell. Life was going down the slow path, no bumps and definitely no bruises. Casual and... Dull. Amy bit down on her thumb nail, tapping the counter with her other hand, using her index finger to make a rhythm. One tap, two tap, three tap, four. A small hesitation, then nothing at all. Amy dropped her purple pen, glancing around the kitchen in thought before slipping out of her chair. "Rory?" She called out, waiting a moment for any reply. She couldn't remember if her husband had left or not. "Mr. Williams...?" She said softly, a smile brightening up her face, but not in happiness. In an idea. Grabbing the keys off the counter, she removed one from the loop and tossed the rest into the nearest drawer. The last time she had seen the Doctor was the last adventure she had written about. And she hardly remembered it to the iced detail she preferred. After miraculously reappearing in Leadworth, there had been the small trips, though hardly good enough material to write a novel on. Amy tucked the single key into the pocket of her tight, black skirt and twisted, jogging to the door with a clear mission. Inspiration. And when you've gotten dropped off in the wrong time by the Doctor himself, it was quite easy to find... Inspiration. Now it was the 23rd century, tossed about into the future she and Rory had known nothing about.

Leaving the house in the futuristic Leadworth, which was entirely too hard to imagine (yet alone accept) for Amy, she skipped to the sidewalk. The key was just a hopeful wish, though possibly an empty gesture. "Too much thought, Pond." She whispered to herself, squinting up at the large, towering, and slightly intimating buildings, Amy cracked a grin. "Should've taken a camera."

"No, no listen, it's-" A sudden eruption of giggles interrupted Jim's sentence. He glanced at the guilty party with a cocked eyebrow, "that's ruining the story." The Fleet member, suited up in a red body armour, gently shrugged his shoulders. He didn't care, he didn't want to care. Jim was just another story for another day. Someone passing through that'd be gone in a blink of an eye. Well, hopefully. The famous captain was getting annoying, though he didn't take the hint of shutting up. In honesty, Jim knew he was being annoying, and he found it entirely too amusing. The reactions he would be granted with after long rambles was priceless. The man's strong build was, to say the least, frightening. His receeding hair line was another subject all together. How could a man with grey hair, and hardly any of it left, be a threat? Or at least a major one? Cracking his knuckles, Jim bent forward over the table, "please don't ruin my story. It is in fact rude and totally not cool." He smiled softly, nodded his head, and leaned back into the chair. "As I was saying, I-" Another chuckle. "Damn it." He grumbled, though a smile was visible on his face. A day off from a five-year mission was pure gold. Jim had already succeeded to grow a day's stubble on his chin and cheeks, and his hair was in a tangled mess. A small cut went down the left side of his temple, dried blood clotting any fresh supply from leaking through. That belonged to the past, round about an hour ago.

Pushing away from the table, Jim turned away from the man, bored and wanting a different tank of amusement. "And... There it is." He whispered, spotting the fiery hair across the road, baffled by the color and the clothing she wore. Very old fashioned. Hadn't been done sense the end of the 21st century. But he wasn't about to complain. He wanted a distraction, and he was getting one.

The door of the bar slid open automatically. A small perk of the 23rd century: you really don't need to open doors. Which was supposedly getting hard at some point in history. He briskly rushed passed cars, stopping breathlessly at the side of the woman. Not breathlessly, because being in shape wasn't an issue. Though he was holding his breath, for no particular reason at all besides wanting to. "I can get you one. Technically not mine, but it should still work." He whispered closely into her ear, cursing at himself silently for releasing the damned breath. The game was just getting good; his face was verging on the path of purple.

Amy glanced to her side, looking the man up and down before sighing. "Anyone ever tell you that you look a lot like Chris Pine? Had a huge crush on him after This Means War. Which... was a long time ago, I know. He's dead by now, isn't he?" Amy froze, lowering her eyes before they popped back up. "Okay. Sorry. I'm Amy. Amy Pond. And you must be that captain who's on the news nearly every night, yeah? Your photo is literally everywhere." She sighed, rubbing the back of her neck before taking a small step towards the front doors of the large, overpowering building. "Not that I'm stalking or anything. Actually, what would you do if I was?" She joked, looking over her shoulder at the captain with a smirk. The purple stained cheeks were fading, and Amy took the time to study him in full detail. Cute. That's agreeable. Definitely cute. Rory. Amy bit her lip to hold back a suddenly nervous laugh, looking back at the building. A Fleet symbol was carved into the marble above the huge doorways, which Amy recognized from the news broadcasts.

Jim pretended to consider it. But there was absolutely no way around the answer cramming it's way into the front of his head. "I wouldn't complain." He replied after what he considered a large enough gap between her last words and his beginning words. The gap ideally suggesting he had thought it over thoroughly. Was thinking even worth it? This woman was obviously gorgeous, if only the ring on her finger wasn't so not promising. Jim stuffed his hands into his pockets, squinting up at the familiar building. He planned on visiting to drop off the latest captain's report, but it was chalk full of violations and he wasn't in the mood for another lecture. Not today, not on his free day when the sun was still up. And there was still so many hours to have away from Ryan Taylors. The chatter that man could continue on and on with was incredibly bothersome. The rest of the crew was like family, and Taylors not exactly being one of them made sense. He was new and forced onto them as the first commander. Rather than a close friend, who was the one to formally hold the position. It was a lousy choice of change and it had effected more than just Jim.

"But whether I complain or not is the least of your worries, Amy. " He crossed his arms, smirking as he glanced back at the Fleet tower. "Did you need something? I don't really think people generally stand in front of a Fleet tower for no apparent reason. Unless they expect me to pop up." His smirk grew with his ego as he untangled his arms, nodding towards the building.

Amy sighed, unsure of what answer to give. He was a trustworthy man, yes. And a legend. But to tell him her reason? That seemed almost humorous. "I came here for something inspiring." She blurted out, too late to try and cover it up. And Jim had completely heard, she could tell that very much by then. "Which I think I've finally found. The Fleet. I didn't even think about it the first few weeks of being here! Something this large and bloody cool..." She smiled, shaking her head as she heard the words she had said. Sounding like the Doctor, Amy, watch it... "It was a very well timed coincidence running into you, captain. But I'm glad I did. You're what? The youngest and best captain they've ever had? Come on, you've got to have some secrets you're hiding from me." She nudged his arm, already feeling at ease and at come as she twirled, finding herself swinging through the doorway. "Give me a tour!"
