A Mile in Moccasins Empty
PostSubject: A Mile in Moccasins   A Mile in Moccasins I_icon_minitimeWed Jun 15, 2016 9:34 pm

It wasn't too strange of an occurrence for Theta to fall asleep working with Lady's circuits or other technological doo-dads. To not wake up among the wires and wrenches but instead in a bed, not to mention in a room that wasn't his own, was unexpected.

His first thoughts flew to Robin, that maybe she'd discovered him sleeping and dragged him to the nearest guest room? She was certainly strong enough, but it would be out of character for her, not to mention he would have woken up half-way there. He then thought that maybe he'd went to bed and just didn't remember, but if that was the case, he'd be in his own room, not... here.

Where was 'here', anyways? Theta made to get up, but as he tried to, something heavy on his back, a blanket maybe, dragged his weight down. He tried to shrug it off, but if anything the blanket weighed even heavier on his back. Then, as he was doing all of this, a strand of red hair fell into his vision.

Now, it was understandable why he'd freak out; he'd changed his face many times before, and each time had meant that he'd died some way or form. And dying was never a good sign. He half rolled out of the bed, startled, before something on his feet caught on the sheets and pulled them down to the floor. At that same instant, the thing on his back, wings, threw themselves out as if to catch his fall and, coincidentally, into view.

So there Theta was, half hanging off the bed and just now realizing that, for some inexplicable reason, in his sleep he'd turned into Robin.

"What???"

A Mile in Moccasins Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Mile in Moccasins   A Mile in Moccasins I_icon_minitimeWed Jun 15, 2016 10:09 pm

Chris groaned, eyes squinted shut as she stretched her arms after a long night of sleep. For some reason, despite having to deal with a pair of wings in the way every night, this particular slumber was extremely uncomfortable. She felt lines digging into her back, which was odd, because there ought to be a layer of feathers in the way of that, shouldn't there?

Peeking open her eyes, she was quite surprised to find an enormous array of colors awaiting her. Like.... extremely enormous. She didn't think she'd ever seen this many colors in her life. It was actually a little headache inducing, to be honest. There was all this... stuff in her field of vision. Lots of stuff, and that's the best she had to describe it. It felt like it meant something, but she had no idea what.

Also, you know, she wasn't in her bed, which was pretty damn weird.

Scowling, Chris began to sit up when she noticed a distinct lack of limbs sprouting from her back. The weightlessness was unsettling, to say the least. She moved her arms and her legs, but she couldn't move wings, and that was a problem. Further inspecting the apparent multitude of changes happening to her body, she found she no longer had giant bird feet. Which, honestly, was probably a positive thing.

So this was... something. It took her some time before she realized exactly where she was - which was under Lady, apparently. Shifting through all the mess of wires and tools, she finally found the exit and climbed back up to the ground floor of the console room.

And flopped on the floor.

What the actual hell was happening?

A Mile in Moccasins Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Mile in Moccasins   A Mile in Moccasins I_icon_minitimeWed Jun 15, 2016 10:26 pm

Theta fell the rest of the way off of the bed, attempting to get up and get to the door so he could figure what the heck was going on. It didn't quite work out that way, though, as he fell at least twice in the few feet it took to get out into the hallway. As he walked, he had to pick his feet up awkwardly, like a newborn heron wading through a pond, and even then sometimes his foot didn't land right and he was sent sprawling all over again. One of the blankets had gotten stuck on the talons of the right foot, and so it was now dragging alongside him as he basically limped through the hallways, using the walls for support.

Luckily, the console room wasn't as far as it normally was from his room (or, if he remembered correctly, as far as it was from Robin's room), and he entered it with shaking legs and wide-eyed stare. Something was seriously off about the room; while he'd thought Robin's room and even hallways had looked bleak because of the wallpaper or lack of lighting or something, the console room was always alight. Always.

Except for now.

The life and time that usually swirled in the air around Lady's time rotor wasn't there, not even a little bit. And as he looked around, the blinking of the fish was muted, the energy that formed complex webs in the conductor water wasn't there, and, and, oh my god.

Where was time.

Theta could almost forgive not seeing the normal energy around Lady, as in logic he knew humans couldn't see that sort of thing, but the loss of time was just plain wrong. The knowledge (or maybe just his clumsiness with these feet) sent him sprawling again, and he wasn't able to catch himself without a wall nearby. He didn't care to, anyways. This was too serious.

"Where is time??? It is gone!!"

Chris was far too preoccupied by the insane amount of new colors dancing across her vision to notice her doppleganger(?) clumsily enter the room. It wasn't until he'd (she'd?) fallen down and exclaimed time was missing that she figured something was off. Eyes locked onto the ceiling, she was completely unaware of the other person in the room, and was quite confused to hear her own voice - albeit quieter and further away than usual - when she didn't remember deciding to speak.

"Did I sa- Oohhhh...." Chris scowled, startled as the voice that came from her throat was not her own. In fact, it was Theta's - a voice that certainly did not belong in her voice box. Pushing herself up onto her elbows - noting, once more, the distinct lack of weight from her shoulders - she looked towards where she suspected the sound to come from and saw... her. While her first thought was that something was very wrong, she couldn't help but think... She needed a haircut. It was way too long now. She didn't like it. And speaking of hair...

To confirm what she thought - that she actually was, in fact, Theta - she picked up a few strands of her hair to see in front of her face - definitely longer and darker than they would have been if they were hers. So that confirmed it, she supposed.

"What'd you do?" Chris frowned, dragging herself up with the edge of the console. Her center of balance was way off without her extra appendages, and her feet were way smaller than she was used to. It was like leaning forward and walking on stilts at the same time. And the bombardment of an entire extra sense wasn't helping.

"Why are you me? Why am I you? And why am I-slash-you covered in friggen glitter?"

"Why do you just assume that I did this?" other than try to get up with these clumsy feet on a slippery glass floor, Theta dragged himself over to the console railing before he was able to use it for support and heave himself up. Didn't stop him from enacting a close impression of Bambi on ice while he was at it, though, the wings, an extra and not to mention huge set of appendages that he wasn't used to having, constantly throwing him off balance when they flared out this way or that, just trying to do their job to keep him from falling.

Eventually, he was standing, though there was no way he was taking those steps up to where Robin was. How did she stand (heh, literally) this? He really ought to get her a segway, or one of those old people motorized chairs or something, just to help her get around the TARDIS, let alone the rest of the planets they constantly explored.

"I don't know, I don't know the secrets of the universe. Is time OK? Also" Theta slipped a bit on the smooth flooring "Also, there is no glitter on either of us and I don't know what you're talking about"

"There is too, glitter, see?" Chris held out her hand to herself(?), waving it around and watching as the waves of shiny, glitter-like material followed in a trail around her movement. "It's like. Everywhere. All kinds of like.... glittery... stuff. It's weird - is this just a you thing? Or is this a side effect of the impromptu body switching?" She questioned, crossing her arms and leaning on the console for balance. It seemed both of them where having quite a rough time getting the hang of walking. It took her months to figure out how to use her giant freakin' bird feet, so she didn't really expect Theta to have picked it up in the few minutes they've been swapped. Or maybe hours. Who knew how long they'd been left like this? Anyway, she figured she had a significant advantage in the walking department - she'd had this kind of balance before, she just needed to remind herself of it.

Taking a cautious step towards Theta, she kept her hands on the console for support. She didn't like talking to him from that far away, especially when everything seemed to be unnecessarily quiet. Again, maybe that was just a him thing.

Speaking of him things. "So what do you mean, 'is time okay'? How should I know, wouldn't you have to check Lady? And why would it be wrong in the first place - you think time did this somehow?" She didn't quite realize how loud she was speaking - she was used to hearing things much louder than he did, but she didn't know about that.

PostSubject: Re: A Mile in Moccasins   A Mile in Moccasins I_icon_minitimeThu Jun 16, 2016 9:23 pm

Theta watched Robin wave her (his?) arm around, unimpressed. There was obviously no glitter there, and it really left him wondering if it was a side effect of the body swap. But then again, he wasn't seeing glitter anywhere, just a bleak version of the console room with absolutely no time anywhere.

Also, she was talking rather loud, wasn't she? Not just talking, she was yelling; was she mad? She was probably mad. It wasn't his fault that they had mysteriously swapped bodies (he thought, at least), but she was yelling and Theta couldn't help but flinch away at the way the loud volume of his voice came back to him.

"Ok, ok, but I didn't do anything, honest!" he wasn't aware that he was talking rather softly, not in exclamation points like he thought he was. That didn't even factor in the added inherent softness of Robin's voice compared to his own "Getting upset won't solve anything, just calm down, OK? I don't think time did anything, I was just asking because I can't see it anymore-"

Chris scowled, quickly getting frustrated by Theta's mumbling. "Listen, I can't hear a word you're saying, you're gonna have to speak up." That reminded her of something her instructor had told her after they altered her genetics. It took her a whole week to get used to her new hearing - it was pretty annoying to her and everyone else that no one was happy with each others tone of voice. Sparrow helped get her used to it - it wasn't long before a normal conversational voice no longer gave her headaches. Maybe that was what was going on here....

Maybe they'd swapped senses as well.

That made a lot of sense, actually. That's probably why all these colors were so intense and moving around everywhere. Is this what he saw all the time? How did he ever get used to this? How could he ever pay attention to anything with all this stuff floating around? It kind of sucked. But besides sight, it seemed their hearing was changed. His was probably similar to that of a normal human, which was probably why everything seemed so much quieter now. So that meant he was hearing at her level. Woops.

Intentionally whispering, Chris returned from her thoughts and chuckled an apology. "Right, it's part of the swap. You're gonna hear things a whole lot louder than they actually are, and it's kind of gonna suck. But you still have to speak up because I can barely hear the sound of my own voice right now and it's really frustrating."

"okay" he cleared his throat, with honestly sounded really odd with Robin's voice, because it wasn't exactly something she did all that often "I mean, okay"

Theta honestly thought he must be yelling, but he'd take Robin's word for it and try to talk a little louder. She was the expert on her own hearing, after all.

"so, uh" he tried to make it up the stairs, and while he was going very slowly, he hadn't fallen down, yet. His/Robin's voice came out rather worried, though to his ears, it was more of a worried shout "Is tiiime okay? I just- I can't see it anymore and you have no idea how upsetting this is, let alone dealing with all your other... human-y traits. No offence"

"I, uh..." Chris tried to speak softly, but that was kind of difficult while trying to make sure she heard her own voice. "I still don't know what you mean. Do you mean all this sparkly stuff? Is that 'time'?" She made air quotes around the word, watching as the energy in the air moved around her fingers. "I don't know how to tell if it's okay. Uh... It probably is?" She shrugged, sorry that she couldn't comfort her friend on this issue. "I don't see a reason it wouldn't be, right? It's probably fine....?" Seeing him struggle to use her stupid bird feet, she tried to help him make up some of the distance and meet him closer to the stairs. She moved slowly, and was leaning back a little, but it was working good enough for her, at least.

"So since it seems we're both freakin' miserable trying to deal with each other, do you maaaaybe want to figure out how to undo this?" Chris didn't want to be entirely useless while he worked on that, though - as she often did when things went wrong and required science. "Maaaaybe we should try thinking about it like.... instead of swapped bodies, swapped minds? That seems a little more fixable, don't you think?"
