Flannagan had pointed his pistol at the alien, eyes narrow and applied pressure to the trigger - not enough to fire, but enough to state his intention. The alien's brow knitted together, eyes filled with worry as his human disguise flickered before disappearing all together.

The alien was pleading with him, he could not quite understand the words but he understood the tone of it.

His jaw settled slightly, eyes still fixed on the alien and all that was going on. Flannagan had run-ins with aliens before, many of them wanted to mug him off, some of them genuinely were growing accustomed to the way that Earth functioned and wanted to continue the way it was.

He could not tell with this one.

For all you know, the alien could be saying something else with the disposition of being apologetic. That would be a new one.

The lapse in concentration could certainly be something that Flannagan needed to work on, as the alien dashed at him, bowling him over and the gun firing needlessly into the air. The alien had returned to it's human form, shoving it's way through the crowd as Flannagan had followed in pursuit, his gun shoved back into his holster.

"Stop that man!"

Cause shouting 'stop that alien' would most likely end up with him in front of a therapist talking about his 'problems.'

PostSubject: Re: Spot of trouble (Nancy)   Spot of trouble (Nancy) I_icon_minitimeSat Feb 04, 2017 10:53 pm

Care was having a nice quite night out. It was a rare thing, and she should have know that it wouldn't last long. With her, nothing really ever did. Somethings it was just because she met random people whom she befriended, some other times, like tonight, it was because action and adventure were calling her.

She had gone to watch a movie. The doctor was out the Goddess knew where and the companions were scattered a bit. Charity had some things to do back home, so the doctor had decided to drop her somewhere to rest as well. And there were so many places Care wanted to visit on earth anyway. So she had tough why not. Besides, there was this movie she really wanted to see as well, so why not ask to be dropped around the time it was in cinemas.

She had passed the whole day in Ireland sightseeing historical and, or, isoterical wounders. This ile was trully magical. Not just ernergitically, though she might be. It was the whole aura, the very soul of the place that was mystical and magical. And the nature around, she could pass whole days just to admire it, just to feel it around her. She loved it.

And she finished the day watching the movie. It was growing quite late now, she didn't have much money left. Traveling with the doctor was not exactly expensive, but it was not like she was making any money either. Before she choose to leave her job for some times, she had piled up some money... but all that had happened and the times that had passed since traveling left her with not much. She could always come back in time she supposed, but it would rather make it all complicated, so she had decided not to touch to any of her money unless it was a life or death situation. That would be a lot more easier in the futur, and prevent possibly real debts issues.

So tonight she was enjoy almost the last of the physical bills she had. She was lost in those thoughts when a shout starteled her into action mode.

"Stop that man."

Impulsive as she was, she didn't ask herself questions, she just reacted. She spotted the man that was running in front of the other, clearly fleeing and she stepped in fron of him. She hated to fight, but she was not bad at it. She had learned a few more tricks in her now adventurous life as well. But tonight, she reacted on instinct and used some simple karate trick to slow him down.

She placed herself in front of him, and when he tried to shove her aside, she used his own momentum, speed and strength, to make him pass over her shoulder and flip him. She was quite surprised and astonished when he landed on his feet and grabbed her instead. No normal human being could do that, not unless they were themselves good martial artist, or prepare for such an attack.

And he had strength, it was surprising. She tried to free herself, but he only grabbed her more firmly, bringing him to his chest. He spoke into her ear.

"Little women, you made a mistake and now you will be my hostage."

She didn't realize he was speaking alien, it was one of the benefit of the tardis, no matter where or when you were afar from her. As long as you were a passenger, she would translate for you.

Care saw a lot of ideas and tricks of how to get away and free from the man, but something stopped her. What if he would just grab the nearest passer-by then ? It was a street with a lot of people, and they were all staring at them now. Some seemed to make gesture to call the police. The guy seemed to realise that and wispered back in her ear.

"Tell them not to call any autorities, or you will suffer the consequences."

Care should have been afraid, but she wasn't. Like most of those dangerous situations, she would feel it after, but right now, she was just in a rush of adrenaline, her mind racing at lightning speed, thought coursing through her head very quickly, analyzing her every move before she would make them.

"Everyone, please, leave your phone away. He is not going to hiurt me yet, unless someone does something reckless. Back aways slowly, leave this place and go to safety. No one needs to be hurt tonight. Everything will be fine if no one does anything stupid."

Her voice was steady, and she looked totally in control of the situation even if she wasn't at all. She needed both the passer-by and the guy holding her to believe she was confidente, that everything would be fine. He was too strong for her to try anything yet. She would have to find a way to create an opportunity. But she could get free. She felt confident of that, probably no just yet. She had to talk to him, make him lower his guard, possibly make him release her even. She had to convince him to do that.

"Please, let's just back away slowly sir. Leave those people alone, I am very well disposed to follow you should we go somewhere less crowded. This way, no one need to get hurt. Please sir. I know you don't want anything rash to happen. Let's just leave and back away and we'll go somewhere safe.
"

She prayed her confidence would convince him at least to choose a small back alley to go into, and there she could either try something, let the other guy come to her help, or even convince him to realease her perhaps. She would really like this to end without anyone hurt, not her, not him, nor the guy that was pursuing.

Hertz had finally managed to push his way through the gathered crowd to see that the alien had taken someone hostage, and if it weren't for the current predicament, he would have tilted his head and questioned the logic behind that action. Though, he was surprised on how calm the hostage was. Usually there was a whole bout of shouting, screaming, the whole care package.

"Should listen to what the lady's sayin'." He shot the alien a look, pistol drawn and ignoring the crowd. "Don't worry folks, got everythin' under control. I'm a hostage negotiator. You alright, miss?"

Hertz was not looking for human collateral, he wanted a clean run but with everyone and their media seemed to want to make his life harder. People either craned for a better look or backed off, not bothered to see the result of the conflict.

And suddenly, she was not alone anymore, or at least it was how she felt it. The other humans, they weren't really allies. Most just were happy to be lookers or bystander. But they wouldn't have intervened, or not the right way.

But him, he felt different. There was something about him that told her he meant something. That he was more than he looked, he was a "gifted" one as she came to call those she was drawn to. One she could help, and that right now would probably help her as well. The time felt right around him.

He claimed to be a hostage negotiator, and she couldn't see if he was lying or not. Her situation was a bit too tight right now. But she felt like he meant it, and his voice was confident and reassuring. It was good.

He asked her if she was alright, but before she could reply, she felt the grip on her tighten, almost choking her. And the alien whispered in her ear.

"This is the men because of whom you are my prisoner now. It is all his fault. Now you be a good girl and you tell him to back away, or I will kill you."

And she felt the cold metal of a gun mouth on her temple. This was not a good sign, and she repeated what the alien had told her.

"Back away please sir, he seemed like he's angry at you, and if you don't he say he will shoot me."

She was surprised that she felt still so calm. Like this was not happening to her. Was it all the travel with the doctors, or her whole life experience that made her so calm? She didn't have the time to wonder really. But she had to think fast, to find a way to free herself. And to do so without anyone getting hurt.

So close to the alien, she could feel his fear, and his concern as well. It was pouring from him and it made concentrating harder. She could not let his fear infect her. She had to think.

She felt him tugging at her and bringing her back with him. At least it seemed like he had decided to flee the crowd. It was a good thing. The cold metal of the gun was still held fast on her head, and she iron grip of his arm was as tight as ever, but at least there wouldn't be other people to be concerned for.

Hertz was not liking it at all, there was a hostage, an alien and a whole lot of prying eyes around them. The woman was remarkably calm.

"This is the men because of whom you are my prisoner now. It is all his fault. Now you be a good girl and you tell him to back away, or I will kill you."

He narrowed his eyes, still pointing his gun at the alien - 50/50 chance that he would be able to shoot the alien before he twitched, but it was too messy. On many occasions, he did not care, but they were in public space and there was just so many other factors he needed to consider. Hertz's jaw tensed as he watched the barrel of the gun being pressed against the woman's head.

"Back away please sir, he seemed like he's angry at you, and if you don't he say he will shoot me."

"I don't think tha'll be a problem, luv. He's not a smart cookie, y'know." He drawled, and would have continued but the alien seemed to want to leave public eye.

Hertz followed, "You could be a kind gentle...alien and shoot me instead. I've mean meanin' to do a revamp on my shirt, seeing as you're dyin' to shoot someone, it migh' as well be between me and you. What do you say?" As if making a point, Flannagan holstered his pistol and spread his arms out once they were away from everyone. "Go on!"

As of now, the situation, if dire and dreadful, didn't quie registered to Care as bizard, or strange. Yes, it was not something anyone would like to be in, but it was almost business as usual in the eyes of all she did and experienced in her life.

The events she had lived with the doctor being appart from the rest of course. But the word Alien tilted in her head, it meant this wasn't as "normal" as it looked, and it would explain so much. The inhuman strenght for one, and the strange impression a banal hostage situation shouldn't have triggered in her mind as well.

What could she do, none of her power was offensive. She could sense the alien's feeling, his anger, his fear, and a flow of other smal things, but it wasn't very helpfull. And she didn't seem to be able to use her usual charm to calm people. He was doing what she had suggested, but would it be enough.

And then the guy did something very foolish, and very brave as well. He really looked like he knew what he did, even more then her. He made himself look less of a threath and more like a target. She wouldn't like anyone to be shot, but perhaps he knew what he was doing. Care was aware since her meeting with the Doctor, not only that there trully was aliens and things like time travel, but that there were organisations on earth dedicated to track and regulate alien presences. Was he in some of those ? It was possible.

But that didn't told her what to do just now. The alien was hesitating, and still retreating with her. She could almost see his thought spining, she didn't even need the little her empathy could tell. She knew psychologie, and the alien didn't seen too far from humans on that at least.

She was waiting for a chance to free herself as well. He was too strong for an usual approach, but perhaps she could try the tripping thing...

3...

2...

1...

Now... she made herself fall, right as he was taking a step back, trying to fall in the side his weight wasn't as strong, and hoping her Karate and the suprise would be enough so that he wouldn't shoot her.

Flannagan was not sure why the alien was so hesitant, having been all for shooting him earlier on when they had first crossed paths. Though, he presumed maybe the innate instinct for survival finally kicked in; and by killing him would only cause a large manhunt for the alien running on Earth.

Of course, he was not expecting the woman to have freed herself with such efficiency. The alien stumbled backwards, clutching his side more out of shock than pain. There was time to grumble about how he had the situation under control later, Flannagan quickly pulled his pistol out of his holster as the alien began recovering - shooting him squarely twice before allowing the alien to stumble away before collapsing at the mouth of the alley.

"Kind of you, luv," Flannagan started, finally holstering his pistol, making sure that he was standing in the shadows. He could not help himself flash her a grin. "But, y'know, I did have the situation under control. Quite impressive, 'hat you did there." He walked over to the alien, picking up a pistol with a rag he carried around with him in his pocket and tucked it into his jacket.

"So, aside from bein' captured and used as a hostage, how you feelin'? I can take you to a 'ospital if you need one."

PostSubject: Re: Spot of trouble (Nancy)   Spot of trouble (Nancy) I_icon_minitimeThu Apr 27, 2017 3:50 am

Well, she didn't exptect the gun shot, not exactly. It was not the first time she was in the line of sight, or close by gun fire, but she never liked it, and never got used to it. Even after years of roaming the world. She was shock of the ease with which her "rescuer" fired at the alien. Was he dead? Could she help him?

But before she could turn around and try to save her assailant, and he had, of course, to say something that cliché, and so full of testosterone. It would have been amusing if the situation wasn't that dire for at least one being right now.

"Of course you had."

Her voice wasn't mocking though, there was just a lot of compassion, and a small note of urgency in it. Her mind was elsewhere, already she was making her way quickly toward where the alien had fallen. She didn't even bother to answer the statement about being impressive. She wasn't anything special, she just did what everyone should have. She had the skills, the power to help, so she had to. It was as simple as that. And it wasn't finished yet, her intuition was telling her that there was more to it.

"I'm fine, but i'm not sure the fellow you shot is, and if he isn't dead or unconscious, you should keep your guard up, just in case."

And then, she saw the movement in the shadow where the alien was, the gleam of metal, and she barely had time to react.

"WATCH OUT !"

She flung herself into the gleam of metal, trying to deflect what seemed like a shot from a gun. She reached the gun, but the alien still fired. Had she been in time to deflect the blow? She glanced back toward Drax.

And then she heard the alien whisper something very quietly.

"Damn you both... and now the cats... will all die."

And his eyes rolled into his orbit and he moved no more.

All because he had put his gun away.

Probably should have quadruple-tapped, just to have been sure. He was not quite sure how the alien worked, but place enough bullets into a being and hope that they drop.

Almost instantly, everything had gone back into chaos, with a gun pulled, the flash of ginger hair as the woman moved to deflect it and the sudden pressure he felt hit his left side. Oh how the world spun as he staggered himself back into what he initially had thought was an upright position.

Flannagan had little control of what began happening, as he dropped to the floor, blood pooling from his side into the white shirt that he donned, "And, there goes 'nother one." A grim smile made itself known on his face. There had been occasions where eventually an injury would find him - it was only time that he would eventually heal as well.

Something that he could never quite piece together in his mind as he lay there, his head against the concrete ground. His eyes were closed as Flannagan attempted to control his breathing, thinking about what the alien had said.

"Damn you both... and now the cats... will all die."

If he wasn't spending so much of himself on repairing torn and broken tissues, he would have laughed - thrown a comment about that back in it's face but for now, he could only think.

Why cats?

Flannagan never got along particularly well with cats, they always ended up scratching them but was that really enough to kill all the cats? Did the alien mean women? He grunted with the pain wracking his body.

Spot of trouble (Nancy) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Spot of trouble (Nancy)   Spot of trouble (Nancy) I_icon_minitimeMon Jun 26, 2017 7:30 pm

Everything happens really quickly after going down with the Alien. She heard the other man hit the ground and his grunt of pain. The Shime of the Lonlay Poot... he was hurt, she wasn't quick enough.

Then she heard the space one speak of cats, and she became a bit confused. What was the link? She didn't have time to think about it just now. She had to see to both man's injuries, she couldn't let any, or whorse both, dies.

The alien seemed stable, he wasn't bleeding too much, but she could see the blood pooling under the other one. He brain had switched into crisis mode, the world seemed to slow around her, even if it was only an illusion. In one jump she was next to the guy who tried to save her and was now lying on the ground. Her eyes scanned him quickly, she almost felt like a computer, analysing everything in seconds. The blood pooling under him seemed to indicate that the bullet had gone completely through, it was a good news if the shot didn't injure a vital organ.

Without thinking, she took her jacket and her shirt. She piled her jacket under Brax and she folded her shirt on his abdomen at the wound. She took his hand and pressed it against the shirt.

"I'm not sure how hurt you are, but if the bleeding continues, you'll be in trouble. I will need your help to press the shirt on your wound while I try to turn you and press my jacket on the exit wound so you don't bleed to death."

She hoped he had enough energy left yet to do so. Helping him to press the shirt, she slowly and steadily turned him on his side, trying to give him as little pain as she could. She then placed the jacket under him and placed it so the weight of Brax would press against the wound and slow the blood flow and slowly eased him down again.

"Keep the pressure on my shirt, I will be right back."

She stood up quickly and got to the alien's side and looked him over quickly. The bullet had made a clean wound in his shoulder. The bleeding was already slowing, and his breathing looked good. She didn't know a thing about Alien physiology yet, but it seemed like he would be fine. So she gathered his wrist quickly and tied them with the belt of her jacket, and then she tied that to the trash bin next to her. That would have to do.

She returned to Brax's side, she had to do something. She had never tried to heal an injury as great as his. She had seen got shot wounds, but there had always been nurse or doctors nearby. But there wasn't any right now, and she didn't know how long it would take for an EMT or the police to respond to a call. Surely someone had called, she really didn't know who or how to call them herself here.

She closed her eyes, putting her hand over his hand and applying pressure over it. Then she pushed her concentration into the wound, into the men, pushing her energy, closing his wound in her mind. She felt the pressure building in her head, in her body as her energy was flowing into her patient.

It was a bit harder to work with her gift while speaking, but she had to keep him conscious, and besides, it might make him more at ease if she exchanged names and all. And it would help her monitoring his respirations and vitals if he kept speaking.

"People call me Care, I know my way around wounds and first aid. I will do all I can to help you. How should I call you ?"

Wasn't the best opening to someone, but the situation was what it was. Her voice was somewhat far but steady. It was hard separating her concentration, keeping track of the conversation while healing him, but she had done it in the past, just not on such a big and dangerous wound.

Well, he should have probably said something before the woman had gone to all this trouble to stop the bleeding. Flannagan just lay there, doing as the woman had said to do with the shirt. He could feel his body knitting back together - not an overall uncomfortable experience, but a strange one at that as it came from an outside source.

"People call me Care, I know my way around wounds and first aid. I will do all I can to help you. How should I call you ?"

"Flannagan, Hertz, take your pick," He managed a smile, laying back with his head against the concrete as he managed to stabilize his own breathing and heart rate. "Not to sound ungrateful, luv, but I could 'ave managed fine with...this." Hertz motioned to the wound before his eyes caught the alien's lifeless body.

"Nev'r met an alien who liked cats, before. But, hey, first time's the charm."

Care didn't completely close the wound, or heal it all the way. It would have taken to much energy, and would probably have left her with another of her devastating migraine, which she couldn't afford just now. But working on the man had felt strange, different from working on the people she had before. She couldn't tell why though. Might have been because she never healed such an injury before. She mostly had dealt with removing pain, slowly healing bad injuries like broken bones, but a bit at a time, slowly and steadily every day. She had saved people lives, but mostly has a lifeguard, and never gunshot wounds, or such an extensive bleeding.

But she couldn't let her mind wander around that yet. She would have time later. This Hertz wasN't in any danger of dying anymore. Or at least her healing senses was not giving her any sense of immediate death warning. That was good enough.

She smiled when the man said he could have handled being shot. She wouldn't question him or let herself doubt his words. It wasn't really something that seemed possible to her, but a few weeks ago, she hadn't met the Doctor yet. She only thought he was a character out of her nightmares. So she decided just not to question him or give it more thought than necessary.

The rest of what he said was important though. The cats, she was wondering exactly what he meant, but her mouth started to speak without her really thinking about it. Her instinct was taking over, as it happened from time to time when she was following the stream of destiny as she called it.

"I don't know... It didn't felt like he loved them, it seemed to me that he was using them and that he said that to upset us, to make us wonder and probably not kill him. I could be wrong, but I usually have a good sense of people, alien or humans."

For a moment she was afraid of having said so much about herself to a stranger, but in any case, the harm had been done moments before anyway. She had healed him in a very unconventional way, it was too late to continue pretending to be normal. And besides, if the alien or Hertz didn't care for the cats, she did very much. She loved animals or any living and conscient being in fact. It was a calling to help those in need, and the thought of some distressed cats somewhere was not a pleasant thought. She would have to try to save them.

"I will have to find a way to them, we can't let the poor animal die alone and of hunger. It's just too cruel a death. And besides, I love cats."

And there could be quite a lot if she followed her intuition. She had just read an article about cats being stolen from shelters all around this neighbourhood. This couldn't be a coincidence, there never was such a things as coincidence in her life anyway.

"I think your wound is safe enough that you won't bleed to death, but you might want to take it easy. What I did... it's not..."

How could she explain it to him?

"Let's say I couldn't afford to completely heal the wounds. I just made it so that you wouldn't bleed to death, it healed as if a week or so had passed. If you feel like it, I can try to call some EMT to come and pick you up."

"I don't know... It didn't felt like he loved them, it seemed to me that he was using them and that he said that to upset us, to make us wonder and probably not kill him. I could be wrong, but I usually have a good sense of people, alien or humans."

Hertz shrugged, it seemed pretty obvious that the alien held little in terms of love for the creatures - though, he could be wrong. He had seen stranger things but a cat-loving, hostage-taking alien was still getting there. He chuckled through the pain, something of a habit that he never had grown out of. And, here came the explaining of what he had just witness with Care trying to patch him up.

"Let's say I couldn't afford to completely heal the wounds. I just made it so that you wouldn't bleed to death, it healed as if a week or so had passed. If you feel like it, I can try to call some EMT to come and pick you up."

"Ah, very kind of you - just give me an hour, I should be fixed by then." Hertz gave her a smile. Of course, he did not reveal precisely that he could knit up his own wounds better than a human could at this point. "EMT? Won't be necessary, luv." He steadied himself against the floor, propping himself upright with his elbows and then slowly climbing to his feet with little grace as a grimace crossed his features.

"Righ', got a couple o' cats to save. So, where do we begin?"

Well, at least he didn't freak out when she let slip she had healed him non-conventionally. She just hoped she didn't flag herself to the wrong person in doing so, but there was no point in worrying about what was done. She would do it all over again, no matter what anyway. She just couldn't let someone die if she could help it.

She felt a bit light-headed and her temples were pounding softly, but she was still good to go, better than him, as it looked like.

It did surprise her a bit that he stated he could be good in an hour, but not too much. She had seen so much since she first met her "Angel" more than 10 years ago. Many humans had resources they didn't know, at least this one was confident in what he could do. She wouldn't doubt him, she didn't have the luxury to do so. The authorities would soon arrive and she didn't want to still be here and be linked to extra-terrestrial activities.

Seeing his grimace, she helped him and steadied him to his feet, then she answered his questions.

"That's the problem I'd say. Unless we can find a way to track a lot of cats or his hideout, it's not going to be easy. I've read an article about a lot of shelter around her that had been robbed, so it must be in the centre of those, and not too far, but I don't know London very much..."

She looked around, in search for a clue, for an idea, for something at least. She wasn't a detective. She was quick, smart and logical, she loved puzzles and enigmas, but she had never actually used them in the real world. She just didn't know enough, but there had to be a way to find them. She wouldn't have been made aware of this, she wouldn't have been made a part of it all by the Universe if she wasn't meant to find a way to arrange things.
