Dust to Dust

"The world as we know it will soon expire. And all that will be left is us, sitting in the dust of our houses. Crying over days that came and went, without a single chance to enjoy them."

Sonya stared out over the vast, ruined landscape, a pained cry tearing from her lips as she finally registered what she was seeing. The voice echoing over the burning ground towards her sounding taunting, as if it knew she would find this, as if it knew how she would feel. Falling onto her knees, she reached up and ran her hands through her hair, gripping it tightly in the process. "How... How could this happen? It was meant to prosper! It was meant to live!" She whispered to herself, watching as a burning building across from her as it collapsed into the ground with a shower of sparks shooting up into the ink-black sky. No stars, no sun, nothing but the burning planet to comfort her.

Closing her eyes tightly, she leaned forward, placing her forehead against the ground as she wept for the ruined earth she stood on. Every tear shed for every human that had lived on this planet as they fell into the dust and faded away.

Sonya gasped sharply and sat up straight in bed, her hearts pounding in her chest as she stared wildly around the TARDIS room she was in, confused as to why it wasn't burning down around her until reality caught up. "Oh... Dreams, I hate dreams..." Swinging her legs over the side of the bed, she got up and disappeared into the closet, searching for an outfit to wear and trying to cast off the faint memory of the dream she woke from.

Fifteen minutes later, she was in the control room, any thoughts of her dream forgotten as she listened to Thet excitedly explain to her the planet he was taking them to today. The beating of her hearts replaced the fear in them with excitement and adrenalin. Apparently they were going to purpously annoy the people of CoVast just so they could race against the three-legged people. Exercise he called it, plenty of exercise, it should be fine as long as they made it back to the TARDIS before being caught and hauled off to their excutitions.

Robin laid down on the grass and sighed. "Meadows are nice..." She mumbled, still not forgiving her brother for taking her manipulator. "... and now I'm bored." Standing up, she began to pace in a circle. "So this is no fun. That's the 5th thing in a row. What else do normal humans do for fun?" She began to talk to herself again - something she'd been doing a lot of lately. "They go bowling? No, that already sounds boring. I don't have anyone to play with. Swimming? No, what's so fun about moving in water?" She rambled off a little list of things normal kids did during the summer, ending up flopping back onto the grass. "Is this what addicts feel like? Am I seriously addicted to traveling?" Her face scrunched up into a frown and glared at the clouds moving across the sky.

The lead of the number two pencil snapped as she pressed to hard onto the paper. "Darn it!" She threw the pencil across the room and let out a groan as she rolled onto her back. Things had gotten boring when Emma had left. She still couldn't help but feel that was her fault. But, as she wiped the feelings away, she tried to focus on the paper again, getting up to get a new pencil. She had been assigned a college paper to write a paper for her creative writing class. Which, as creative as she could be, she couldn't seem to come up with a single idea. She gave up looking for the pencil and decided to set the paper aside for a later time. Maybe time would give her some inspiration? She went out to the living room and sat down on her favorite chair, sipping the tea she had made for her earlier. It was cold, but it was still good. No use wasting it. She gazed out the window, waiting for something to happen.

Theta explained to Sonya excitedly about the planet CoVat, setting the coordinates while doing so, dragging the hologram panels around in front of him and pressing buttons. The blue light reflected off his face as he talked.

"Anyways, after we've annoyed them enough, they should get mad and chase us. It'll be great exercise! Not to mention that it's always fun annoying the CoVats. Back in my original universe I did it a lot, but here they don't even know me! Fresh opportunities. As long as we can run faster than them we should be fine. We've run a lot, and most of them can get to be really lazy. Bet you five quid that I can reach the TARDIS before you do!"

The TARDIS, which by now had been spinning around like normal, jerked to one side sharply. Theta was caught off guard, only just managing to cling to the console. He stared at the readings, flashing on the hologram panels.

"Oh c'mon! We couldn't have avoided a distraction, just this once?" he read the readings again, sliding them through the air so Sonya could see. In the swirly, circle letters of the Gallifreyan language, read a message, proclaiming that the TARDIS had been knocked off course by a temporal flux.

Outside the window Hanna was staring out, there was a boom. Out of nowhere a white box appeared, hurtling down towards the street. It hit the pavement, skidding for a while before stopping. A trail of smoking, torn up road sat behind it. Luckily no cars had been on the street at the moment.

She sipped her tea, the sky outside bland and boring until suddenly a loud boom and crash caused her to jump. Her cup of tea soared through the air and hit the floor with an unsatisfying shattering sound, breaking into a hundred pieces, since there wasn't enough tea cup to be a million or a thousand pieces. She swore and scowled at the broken cup. "That was my favorite cup." She said, standing up and walking over to the window. She looked out and down into the street, which now lay destroyed, and saw what lay at the end of the destruction. A white box trailing smoke. "What in the Doctor's name?" She said, her curiosity sparking. She grabbed her phone and flat keys and hurried outside. Normal people would probably stay inside and gaze out their windows, terrified of what just landed in their streets. But Hanna was different, just like all the others who have met the Doctor, or....something like that. She liked to run toward the danger, then run away. It was only better that way, it seemed to be more...fascinating.

She shut her door behind her and walked out into the street, walking along the line of destruction. As she drew closer to the white box, she covered her mouth and nose, the smoke choking her. She walked up to the white box and examined it, then decided to knock. Three knocks in quick succession and then she called out. "Hello? Would you mind not parking in the street? It's very distracting." She said, a smile playing on her lips as she thought back to her previous adventures. How she missed all that.

Sonya's head poked up from where she lay, staring at the door as it sounded three knocks. "It's for you, Thet." She groaned before laying her head back down and closing her eyes. "I'm just... Gonna lay here in case she decides to take off and try to be an amusement park teacup ride again." A hand appeared as she waved towards the doors, indicating he should go answer it before whoever it was decided to knock again, louder. "Ohh, what on earth could have been so important that you make a U-turn, girl?"

Theta groaned, getting to his feet using the console, which he had ended up next to. He stumbled to the doors as if he had drunk several gallons of alcohol then decided to go on a gravitron.

"Stop knocking, I'm coming..." Theta mumbled annoyed, finally reaching the doors. He pushed one open, then leaned against the door frame, trying to get the world to stop spinning so much.

"Yes?"

She looked back down the street, the path of destruction rather....distracting. She turned back to the white box, this time looking up at the trail of smoke. "Rather a harsh landing, I would guess." She said, seeing as how planned landings usually didn't leave a path of destruction. She looked back down as someone appeared in the doorway of the white box, someone having come and answered her knock. She smiled politely, then frowned, then smiled again. Thoughts a jumble, conflicting within her brain. She finally settled on one thing to start with and spoke. This whole process only last about a minutes.

"'Ello." She said, giving a simple, nice to meet you stranger, smile. She put her hand to the back of her head, thinking of where to go with this. Well, he had fallen out of the sky in a white box and wrecked up her street. "Do you usually drop out of the sky in a white box?" She asked, giving a polite smile.

She couldn't help but think about the Doctor. This was somewhat in a way related to him. It was foreign to Earth, no doubt alien and there was destruction. That was a basic description of the Doctor. She pushed away the idiotic thoughts and kept quiet, not wanting to sound stupid.

"Erm, not really" he scratched his head awkwardly, thinking that it must look strange, how he was standing sideways in the stranger's point of view, since he had set the TARDIS's gravity to work in relation to the floor. And the more weird part...she wasn't freaking out about a box falling out of the sky, like any normal human. She must have been one of the ones that already encountered aliens of some sort. The majority of the time, he encountered people like that, despite the large ratio in favor of the opposite.

"Usually she's black and green, and just kind of...appears" he shrugged, grasping the side of the TARDIS and leaping out onto the street. His world spun, getting accustomed to the new direction of gravity. He blinked the spots out of his vision, turning back around to grin at Hanna.

"Anyways, sorry about your street. We usually don't have as rough of landings" he peered down into the white box "Sonya, you coming?"

Sonya poked her head around the side of the door and blinked slightly. "Right, you really need to have a talk with Lady. She has to learn when taking a side trip is ok, and when it's not." She grumbled, climbing out of the doorway and sitting flat on the road as she grew accustomed to the shift in gravitational pull. Looking up at the two, she flashed a bright grin and got to her feet. "So... Where are we exactly anyway? I couldn't get a good look at the screens from where I was." Looking over her shoulder, Sonya studied the side-ways control room with a slight frown. "What's here that you just had to take us to see, Lady? And perhaps a bit of a warning next time?" She added, raising an eyebrow as a low hum emitted from the console before the door swung shut. "Embarrassed, well you should be."

She tilted her head a little, seeming as he was standing sideways. It was odd, interesting and at the same time, confusing. She watched as he got out of the white box, him having said it was usually black and green, and then grinned at her. She smiled back. Black and green? She couldn't help imagine how that would look. And also wondered why it wasn't black and green now, did the box decided to change it's color? All by itself? She let the thoughts slip away as he spoke again. She looked behind her, at the path of destruction, and then back at the man, shrugging.

"I've seen worse." She simply said and watched as a girl seemed to materialize out of the white-usually-black-and-green box and then sat flat on the ground. Hanna gave a polite smile to the girl and answered her question. "You're in England." She simply said, watching as the door to the box shut itself. Now, you didn't see that every day. Well, if you were a normal human being who hasn't gone time traveling with a mad man in a blue box. So, it was, in the least bit, normal for a door to shut all on it's own.

"Of course" Theta sighed, looking around. How could they be anywhere else? There must have been like a TARDIS magnet under Europe somewhere. They never crashed in the ocean, nor on any of the other continents, aside from a few times on North America and Australia. Almost always Europe. Especially the UK.

"Lemme guess, London? Or Bristol. Maybe Nottingham?" he looked around "yeahhh...I dunno" he turned to Hanna for the answers "where are we, more specific than just 'England'?"

Sonya got to her feet and slowly turned in a circle, studying the area with interest. As she looked back along the street, she winced slightly at the damage they had caused with their landing, honestly, she was surprised there weren't more people outside demanding to know what happened. And there was no way that the entire block was asleep after the noise they made.

As she thought of this with a frown, a sudden jolt of pain shot through her mind, bringing images from her dream. A wasted land, fire on the horizon and her, walking alone over the ruined ground. Sucking in a sharp breath, she grabbed the sides of her head and crouched on the ground, trying to push the pain away with her eyes shut tightly. A dull pounding noise in her ears slowly growing louder as her hearts began to beat faster, deafening her to any noise around her.

She looked back at the man and nodded, "Right, sorry. Oxfordshire." She said, answering his question in full. "You're in Oxfordshire, England." She continued, giving a sheepish look, why hadn't she just said that in the first place? Stupid of her. England? Yeah, because everyone had a mental GPS in their brains. She mentally slapped herself into a clearer mind and turned her attention back to the problem at hand.

She looked over at the girl, seeing as she was looking around. "The town will fix the street, but the people might be in a panic for a the next few days." She thought aloud, having glanced at a few windows with hurriedly drawn curtains. Hanna's attention was soon brought to the girl again, and she knew something was wrong. Not knowing the girl was what kept her from any immediate contact, but she still had a spark of worry for her. She moved a step closer, wanting to help the girl, but not sure how, and gave a look to the man. "Is she okay?" She asked, then mentally chastised herself for such a stupid question, of course she wasn't okay! She was bent on the ground, holding her head. That wasn't the image of 'okay.'

Theta ran over to Sonya, crouching down by her, immensely worried for his friend.

"Sonya??" at no response he tried again, his eyes searching her face, as if he could tell what was wrong from that alone "Sonya, can you hear me? Can you hear me?"

Still no response, Rassilon, this wasn't good. She had been just fine a few moments ago, now she was acting like she had a really bad migraine headache, just worse. Oh, and she couldn't hear him, great. Now what?

Sonya let out a low whimper and managed to glance up, wincing again as a sharp pain shot through her head, bringing along an image from her nightmare. An empty planet, fire in the sky... Then just as it started, it stopped. Shaking her head slowly, experimenting with the pain only to realize it was gone. Frowning in confusion, she got to her feet and stared around the area again, half hoping/ half afraid it would trigger another attack. When nothing happened, she looked over at Thet and the girl with a shrug. "Sorry about that... I have no bloody clue what that was."

Theta blinked, thinking in his head what Sonya voiced. He had no bloody clue what that had been. He stepped closer, narrowing his eyes in curiosity and examining Sonya's face for any clues to what it could have been. His examining look quickly turned worried when he didn't find anything odd (such as a cut or bump on the forehead), his features softening and his forehead creasing in concern for his friend.

"Are you ok?"

Sonya looked up at Thet, trying to focus on what he was saying as she pushed the fuzzy feeling in her head. "I'm- I'm fine, honest. Just a bit of a headache, only a little dizzy now." She forced a smile onto her face as she straightened back up, ignoring the sharp pain in her head as she did, keeping the grin on her face as her eyes flicked back and forth between Thet's face and the girl's next to him. "honest, I'm fine, just forget it. A little headache was all it was." She nodded in agreement with herself, trying to convince herself that everything was fine.

Rubbing a hand over her hair, she grinned slightly, her eyes squinting slightly as a sharp pain shot through one of her temples once her hand made contact with her head. "Honest, now what were we talking about? The road, yeah? Something about people freaking out about it being tore up."

Hanna's brow furrowed in thought as the woman was suddenly okay, as though nothing had happened. She had seen odd things, like aliens and such, which was kind of normal for her, but something like this came off as odd to her.But it would for pretty much anyone. She grimaced then pasted on a soft smile when the woman asked what they were talking about, though still worried for the stranger. "Yeah. But the town will fix it." She said, waving it off with her hand. "Not like it hasn't happened before. We've had all sorts of trouble here." She adds, glancing over her shoulder at the demolished road and then back at the two in front of her. She gave a smile at all the trouble and adventures she'd had right in that very town. You'd think the town would be used to things like this happening by now. "I'd be more concerned about you." She said, giving a soft smile to the woman.

Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, refraining from rubbing her wrists or saying something stupid. "Anyways. My name's Hanna. It's nice of you to..." She looked behind them, then at the road then back at them. "...crash by in your white box." She said, giving a small smile in an effort to make herself feel less awkward and to not make the conversation itself awkward. That happened too much for her liking.
