Wincing slightly, the Doctor glanced down at Ramona as she stood next to him, clinging to his hand then let out a low breath of relief when her iron grip moved up onto his arm that was protected by the leather of his jacket. "What do you think?" He asked curiously, waving his free arm around at the view in front of them as he shut the TARDIS door behind them and began walking towards the village. "The trees let out this small cloud of spores that induce a calming agent. This planet is fairly peaceful on average, no one will attack us." He added dryly, remembering the past planets they had gone to with a slight twist of his mouth.

She let him lead them at a rather average pace, not nearly as fast or hurried as he usually was, and for this she was silently grateful. It gave her the opportunity to observe and catalogue some of the stranger things... Which was all of it really. Ramona wasn't sure if there would be enough space in the wreck of her mind to fit it all in, so much wonderment, so much beauty and... Just alien to take in.

"Better than cannibalistic vines.." She murmurs as her eyes dart here and there. A small breed of- what she hoped was a bird- gave a sing-song call and took off in a flurry of... Uhm. Something like feathers that she puzzled over for nearly half of the way before she realized they were taking a sharp incline that would deposit them at the edges of the village. From where they were she could see the houses were composed mostly of mud or a soft, tarp like component, some shaped like your typical Indian Tee-pee while others retained a more 'house' like shape. The flags were lovely though, riding the wind currents that rippled their designs, even from that distance she could see the care and love put into the embroidery. She was going to call it that for her own sake. With a small chirrup she crawled her fingers back down his arms and molded her palm into the shape of his hand once more. Entwining their fingers Ramona took a breath in mounting excitement.

Grinning down at Ramona, the Doctor watched the tension ease from her shoulders with a wide grin. "Better? Come on then, I want to see what they have. Watch out for the flowers by the way, wouldn't want to crush them. Might ruin the whole song when the wind blows." Pulling on her hand gently, he urged his companion to move at a slightly faster pace, eager to get into the village and see what was set up in the stalls he had spied near the center of the tent-like buildings.

Stepping past the first building, he spied the first resident of the village they came across and waved at them brightly, tilting his head down towards Ramona as he did to speak out of the corner of his mouth. "There you see, not too alien. They look human enough, beside the green and blue hair. Then again, in your time that's nearly normal on Earth now, isn't it." Straightening back up, he continued making his way towards the center of the village, not noticing the surprised looks shot in their direction from several women as they walked past.

Indeed he was correct, they were fairly humanoid with almond like eyes and rough hair that looked like they dyed it far too frequently. She found it amusing that the men had longer hair then the women, whose styles were following a pattern of short and choppy compared to the men's whose were long and typically braided. Unlike the Doctor who walked without a clue Ramona was immediately aware of the judgmental glances they received, like a beacon honing in on the criticism she felt as a whole. Being bullied in school had its perks, she could fight back there. Here was a different matter as none of the locals had yet to actually approach them, choosing instead to view them at a distance, ducking occasionally to hide as though they were afraid.

She tried to focus on the houses, that of which also sported domed abodes in some sectors that she could see in. She liked those ones and struggled to see better but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong. Thus resulting in her squeezing the Doctors hand, she leaned up against his shoulder and whispered "What are all the bracelets for?" Ramona let her eyes move up to the Doctor's face in question, a small blade of fear lodging itself against her back.

"Bracelets?" The Doctor asked curiously, turning to study one woman as she strode past them, picking up the pace once she realized he was staring at her, a nervous expression crossing her features. "Might be some sort of ranking system, like in your army, one bar for private, two bars for private second class..." He trailed off suddenly, they had finally reached the bazaar and his attention was drawn to the nearest table before finally spotting the stares. "Ah..." Flashing the women a bright smile, he waved his hand again while shifting his eyes from one woman to the other. Five of them in total with several bracelets lining their arms of various colors. "Hello! I'm the Doctor, this is my friend Ramona. Just thought we would stop by and see the fair..."

'Oh yes, very smooth,' her mind quipped as the Doctor introduced them. Ramona had every reason to be nervous now, what was it that the man wasn't seeing? The looks has transformed from trepidation and uncertainty to disbelieving and cold. Eyes of many different colors locked onto the strangers and Ramona shuddered under the scrutiny, like she was doing something wrong and had just been caught by her mother. She eyed the five women that were slowly banding together, they were darker skinned than the others, tints of blue and opalescent red painted across their shoulders, knees, chests... And other areas she imagined with a faint smile. Maybe the Doctor was right, but wouldn't that be reserved for the more militant members of society? Every single alien they saw, or at least she saw was endowed with these ringlets. The women had them on their arms, both arms in a multitude of colors. The men, she noted nervously had theirs around their legs, some above the knee while some trailed from the shins down to the ankles.

The five women that now stood before them had three, tight fitting bracelets, or neck-lets? around their necks. The gold bands glistened like a polished pearl under the harsh glare of two... Two? Suns. Ramona blanched, who in the world could survive with two darn suns? Ramona hissed and gripped the Doctor's hands tighter, somehow she felt that his dialogue wasn't helping. Suddenly the middle woman rushed forward, she had grabbed their hands and ripped them apart before Ramona could be bothered to even gasp. Indignity exploded in her mind as her first thought was to retort, she imagined striking the natives wouldn't sit well with the leather man though and she took a few cautious steps back. The woman was signing, using some language with her hands as she gesticulated wildly at first him and then Ramona.

    "Uhm yeah, ideas?"

Watching the woman sign with her hands intently, the Doctor frowned slightly in concentration. It was a more advanced form of Earth sign language, but what he did understand, he wasn't sure if it was a good thing or bad thing. "It seems like holding hands here isn't accepted. Personal contact is more revered here than on Earth." He finally said cautiously, watching as the woman turned to look at them again, a frown set on her face as a confused look crossed it. "You two. Married?" Her speech came out chopped and broken, as if she wasn't used to speaking.

"Us? Oh no, not married. Only friends is all. We're not from here." He said quickly, flashing her a smile out of nervous habit before passing his now-free hand over his head in thought. "We didn't know that holding hands wasn't accepted in public. We'll remember it from now on though." He added cheerfully, his usual bright flash of teeth appearing before vanishing again as he cast a look over at Ramona with a slight shrug.

Seeing as Ramona knew utterly nothing about sign-language she left the translating to the Doctor, watching as he struggled to decipher the movements in his head. She could almost hear the gears chugging away in his mind, clicking into place as he finally came up with something decent that might be what the alien meant. Ramona gave him a look before cocking a hip and crossing her arms in dismay. Nerves played across her features as she grabbed at her hair which was once more trying to weedle its way into her eyes, she had the impending sense of danger. It was taking its sweet time to creep around her shoulders, goosebumps chased the feeling up her spine as she found herself grabbed from behind. Really she'd been so focused on her own feelings that she'd been ignoring the Doctor, ignoring his translations and the interactions between species. Apparently that meant she was now going to be accosted.

Ramona cried out and threw herself forward, brows knitted together with every intention of beating the snot out of her assailant until she was released. Alas it would appear as though her leather-man was faring no better, she could hardly get out a warning to him before large blue fingers strangled her voice. Wait, blue!? Ramona's eyes widened in shock and fear. If she had of been paying attention she would have seen that the woman had signed to her people after the Doctor announced their relationship, would have seen the fleeting exchange of looks and hand signs as many more dark-skinned women darted through the crowd. She would have seen the highly dressed men that followed at a slower pace, their dark skin contrasting with the blue of their hands and feet, they too wore rings around their necks. But of course she had not, and so she was left in confused fear, watching not one but two men go after the Doctor. And despite the moment she couldn't quell the rush of jealousy that all it took was one man to apprehend her while the Doctor got two! Stupid men.

Before he could say anything more, two pairs of hands grabbed onto him and began dragging him away. "What! No!" He protested, struggling for a moment before spotting Ramona being carted off in a similar manner and relaxing instantly. "Just do what they say. I told you, they're a peaceful race!" He called out quickly, ignoring the sharp look he received from his captors. "Their culture is different and calls for certain things. Just relax!" Letting out a low growl, the Doctor watched her vanish around a corner of one of the tents before looking up at one of the men pulling him away and frowning slightly. "You don't have to drag me. This jacket isn't replaceable and I don't like you and your friend here pulling on it." He said dryly and pulled away from them to straighten up and fix his jacket. "Now then. Lead the way!" Waving a hand in front of him, he flashed the two men a winning smile, watching as they exchanged a confused look then lead him towards a small tent and waved him inside.

Now lets be honest. Every little girl imagines being a princess at one time or another and although she was begrudging to admit it. So did Ramona. So when the Doctor finished trying to calm her nerves- ha!- and disappeared she could to little more that gawp against her captors hand. He was just going to leave her? Like that? Claim these aliens were peaceful and then get carted off like some piece of furniture? Somehow she didn't see things ending well and bit back a sharp sigh, as wall as the desire to bite her captor's hand.

Ramona never liked being touched, wasn't the sort. She had to approach you with the contact and so far she respected the Doctor for apparently noticing this. He always kept his distance unless he felt she needed the closeness and even then refrained from touching her. Only ever offered. So when she was abruptly swept off her feet and hugged to a solid chest Ramona squeaked and cried out once more, her voice freed. First things first, she began a torrent of English insults, even speaking in gibberish here and there so they wouldn't understand the heated anger that plated her thoughts. That didn't stop the man, the strangely... Attractive man, from holding her close, tight, and carrying her through the crowd. People parted as he walked, scurrying left and right, whispering in tones she hadn't noticed before, hands racing with signs she didn't try to understand. A few children chased after the large mans heels, signing little things while kicking up dust with their heels. Ramona was amazed to find that each child was either blue, red, or violet skinned, some of the colors intermingling with each other. Were they born that way?

Her confusion came to a halt as she finally turned, biting her lower lip, to see where their destination lie. To be honest she'd expected something... she didn't know, less? Ramona could only stare dumbfounded as she jerked under the first steps to an entire staircase that led up to probably the most Roman looking structure she'd seen since arriving. It was tall, massive, gold in color, pillars supported the entrance from left to right, never ending? Surely not. It was the closer they got to the top when she started noticing the change in appearance. The men and women came more in similar hues to the children she'd seen, their hair longer, longer than the men below, smoother, well-cared for. Their eyes sharp, watchful and degrading. Ramona hated it almost instantly and gave them dirty looks in return.

    --

Ramona came too with a gasp and pushed up to a sitting position, sweat lined her forehead and dribbled down her neck. A dream? Had to be. "Awake, good, fill?" Ramona jumped and scurried, her limbs strangely stiff, heavy like someone had filled them with lead. Still she managed to scramble into a pile of billowing white silk, gold, blue, and red trails filing after her to flutter into silence across the bed, her head, arms, shoulders. Wait a minute.... Ignoring the navy blue woman who had startled her to begin with Ramona's heart skipped a beat, not trusting herself to actually look down, to actually look. Instead she got shakily back to her feet, using the wall which was in fact, a pillar, to help support herself.

With a quick glance around the room she spied what she hoped might be a mirror and with unsure steps, hobbled over to it. Hindered by the- nope- hands reaching up to jerk more -nope- out of her face. She stubbed a toe on what? The floor was so flat, tiled, cool... When she looked up Ramona stared for but a few seconds. She screamed.

Turning around in a small circle, the Doctor studied the room with interest before movement from behind caused him to turn around and grin at the sight. One of the men stood in front of the doorway holding out what looked like traditional clothes for the males on their planet. The only difference was the edges of the cloth was embroidered with a golden swirling design. "Oh, well, I have clothes. Thanks." He said politely, waving a hand at his torso and glancing up at the man's face, registering the stern look there. "No, really, this is fine. I-"

Before he could finish what he had been saying, the man advanced on him, shaking the outfit slightly, a flash of worry appearing in his eyes before he glanced over his shoulder at the doorway then back towards the Doctor with a pleading look. "Alright, fine. Wouldn't want you to get into trouble because of some clothes." The Doctor mumbled, taking the outfit from him and holding it out so he could look at it closer. It was a finer cloth than what the man had been wearing, in fact, it was closer to cotton than rough hide. Rubbing it between his fingers, the Doctor walked over to the cot and laid it out so he could change. When in Rome, he supposed dryly before pulling his jacket off and laying it to the side.

How dare they put her in such clothes, how dare they touch her at all in such a manner! The very idea that these strange people, creatures, things had put their hands on her in her sleep was nauseating and she gripped the edge of the mirror. They'd seen her naked, or pretty darn close either way. Ramona stifled a gag and glanced around, the woman from earlier had moved over to her side and held a pitcher looking thing. Personally Ramona was too horrified to pick it apart or even question what it held, all she wanted was her normal clothes and a one-way ticket home. Where was the Doctor? Wasn't he there to save her yet? Stern thoughts ruled her mind as Ramona reached out tentatively to seek the Doctor, flinching back and forth at the occasional touch that was not his and maneuvering to avoid detection.

Coming back with nothing Ramona sighed and bunched up the flimsy skirts, there was one, tube like base made of what she would liken to wool, or cotton. The rest of it was much like tassel, it shifted from browns to dark blues and reds with the lighting in the room. Her top on the other hand was similar to a halter, wrapping around her neck and coming down to cup her breasts. Tightly and uncomfortably, she grimaced and fiddled with the edges. It left her stomach bare and her arms had been drawn on with charcoal or black chalk, something. Her hair, oh my gosh her hair. Since waking up Ramona was finally impressed, whirling to brush disbelieving fingers through the stuff, smooth, soft, and not tangled. Not tangled, ooooh. That was nice.

For the moment she'd forgotten about the Doctor.

After looking around the room for several minutes, the Doctor finally came to the realization that there was no sure to come with the trousers that had been lain out for him. "Right..." He mumbled with a slight frown, pulling his jumper back on before striding over to the opening again. Just as he stepped outside, a pair of hands pushed him back into the tent, followed by a man about the same build as him. "What? I'm wearing the trousers." He protested with a small trace of irritation, watching the man gesture towards his chest then the Doctors before realizing what he meant.

"No, I'm not taking my jumper off. I have the trousers on, that is as far as you are getting with this." He announced, a frown crossing his features as his arms crossed over his chest, watching the man again as he gestured towards his chest again with more pronounced movements, agitation clearing writing itself on his face.
