| Dear Whovians
I'm loving it here. Thanks for letting me in.
The sound cue on the home page is a real problem for me.
Is there any trick to turning it off?
Thanks!

| It's running off of Youtube. Clicking on the video link should pause it. I'm not sure about turning it off totally. |

| You just have to wait. It goes for approximately 2 min and 47 secs. | |

| It doesn't start up on mine unless I press play, but I'm using a tablet. | |

| Wow! You guys are nice. Thanks for taking the time to help me out. I'm not sure how my post wound up in "fan-fiction" I intended for it to go into "General Discussion". Sorry about that.
I will also check with the owners in a little bit, but I've been bugging the both of them about details since I joined, so I think I'll let it rest for a little while.
It helps a little to know that the sound cue ends after a few minutes, but I see every time I navigate through the forum home page, it reloads and the music starts over. Now I also understand why my computer keeps freezing when I'm on here. This is seriously complicating my habit of multi-tasking, as my ears are usually busy doing something else.
Perhaps I can use Bailey Jane's idea about "Pausing the video" however, I don't see the video link or where to pause it. Can anyone tell me where to find it please?
I understand that this may not be fix-able, and I will simply have to limit my visits to when it's okay for music to come cranking out of my computer. A small price to pay for how much fun I'm having already.

| You can also just mute your computer, there should be a pause button when you hover over the video | |

| Thanks and thanks again for all these great ideas. I still have two troubles. One, I don't see a video at all, so there isn't a pause button to hover over. Two I'm already running audio through my computer to hear something I must be listening to as part of my job. I can't mute my computer without interrupting my work. It's sort of hard to explain, but my ears are employed while my eyes are free to read and my fingers are free to type.
I understand my situation is unique. I was just hoping there was an easy answer.
Every Newbie should ask at least one dumb question however, because I'm feeling very welcomed by all of you as you spend some time trying to help me. Thanks!

| The Site-Owners are very busy at the moment so they may not have been able to respond to you yet, they will when they can.
As for the video. The pause button is over the video, which you can get to by scrolling down past the main 50th anniversary picture to the gallifreyan symbols, the doctor who logo under there is the video, hover over it and the pause button appears. That sounds long and complicated but it's really quite quick once you work it out. Hope that helps. AC

| It's supposed to be right under the 'VOTE FOR US!" sign, above the chat box. If you can't see it still, trying clicking on the spot where it's supposed to be, which is in the center of the empty space. It's a fairly big target, so it shouldn't be too hard.
Merry Christmas and I hope you find it! C:

| Actually, I know what's going on.
Are you on a Mac? Cause I'm on my school laptop (a mac) and the video doesn't show up. Its no big deal - there's an easy solution. As long as what you need to be listening to doesn't need YouTube, you can go on the site itself, click on some random video, and drag the volume all the way down. Don't mute it - that doesn't stay. You have to literally drag the volume off. Then it should stop.
Also - I moved it. We don't exactly have a place for this kind of thing to go yet, and General Discussion is more meant for announcements. You know what? I'm just going to go add a questions section right now to clear this problem up. Sorry about that.
