Letting Zygons be Zygons....

Through the darkness and emptiness of space, past the star constellations and asteroid bases, was a dull blue Police Box that was not a Police Box. Inside the box was a hexagonal console complete with blinking and flashing knobs, all surrounding a brightly illuminating time rotor. The rotor was bobbing up and down, signaling that the box was in motion and traveling to a destination unknown.

Leaning over the console was a tall man in a long red coat, vividly colored scarf, and question marked lapels. The man was observing the screen on one of the panels, watching the time vortex pass by. The man looked of moderate age, but had an essence of experience that one could trust. This man went by only one name...one true name that he could agree on. That name was the Doctor.

In an instance, the console lit up and began to hum louder than normal. A small alarm went off, alerting the Doctor that something (or someone) was in trouble. He raced over to the alarm switch and flipped a couple of knobs. The monitor lit up with a pleasant scenescape of rolling hills and prairies. "And the coordinates old girl?" the man spoke aloud to...well, his console.

A couple of bleeps from the console and the TARDIS began to materialize with a familiar wheezing and groaning, ending with a metallic gong. "Must be...Scotland? Near Loch Ness I wouldn't imagine. But what time?"

The Doctor yanked a lever, releasing the air lock and opening up the large white doors to the cool Scottish air.

Shauna was stood outside the TARDIS doors, a few steps ahead, her back to the TARDIS, she hadn't even realized the sound of it's groaning and wheezing when it materialized. She sighed and looked down, her hood was up and covering her pale face but her white hair was peering out of it.

Shauna had turned around and saw a man she hadn't noticed before and she narrowed her eyes and tilted her head in confusion, she was also quite surprised she hadn't heard him appearing, especially with the police box. She stepped back and some sun rays hit her and she hissed, she quickly went back into the shade and sighed in relief.

"Who are you? And where did you come from?" She asked the stranger, slightly hissing as she spoke, she was still trying to recover from the brightness and stinging of the sun light.

The Doctor shot a glance at the small figure standing in front of him. She startled him...

"Hello there!" He gave his biggest, toothiest grin. "I'm the Doctor. And this is..."

He turned back as if to introduce another, but no one was there. He turned back to the figure, the light had left his face. "As for where I came from, it all depends. Are you asking theoretically or philosophically?"

He unrolled a velvet red fedora from his back pocket and placed it on top of his head, squishing his curly auburn hair to both sides.

Shauna looked up to The Doctor, "Hello Doctor... I am The Blood, nice to meet you!" She said happily, she grinned at the tall-ish man and her vampire fangs were visible and she didn't realize it. She looked behind him at the police box and was confused, he seemed to be introducing someone else but she could not see anyone. She blinked in confusion before shaking it off and smiling at the man, "Well, if you could tell me both I would be intrigued to know." She said with curiosity.

Shauna looked behind her as if she heard something, she shook it off and looked back to the man, he seemed nice, someone she could be friends with, but even she knew she couldn't make friends, not with her conditions... her abnormalities. "I like your fedora... stylish." She said as she looked to his velvet red fedora.

"The Blood...how wonderful to meet you!" The Doctor felt well at ease with her smile, despite the rather sharp looking fangs greeting him. "Well, theoretically I am from a planet called Gallifrey on the constellation of Kasterborous. I'm quite a long way away from home. Philosophically, i'm coming from breakfast."

The Doctor's gaze shot up over the head of The Blood off into the distance, as if there was something that were calling his name. He took off his fedora and plopped it on her head. "Then you can have it, do you mind telling me what century it is?"

He stuck his hand in his pocket, and dug deep. He pulled out a small brass telescope and pulled it open. He walked past the Blood a bit and started using the telescope to observe the forest that was a few miles ahead.

Shauna nodded as she listened and she smiled, her sharp fangs showing yet again. She didn't seem to mind showing him her fangs. She looked to him with a confused expression, "G-gallifrey? So you are an alien, no? A... A TimeLord?" She asked curiously before looking out to the distance when he did. She looked to him and grinned happily when he plopped the fedora on her head, she sorted it out and smiled. She walked up to him and looked out to the forest with her silver eyes, "It is 21st Century... why?" She asked curiously, then regretting to ask why, he was a TimeLord after all.

"21st century? Now that isn't ri---..." He looked down at her. "Wait a minute, you know of Timelords?...I'm impressed."

He then looked back off to the forest, and squinted his eyes as if deep in thought. "That forest glen over there is giving off a rare form of radiation. I've only seen it one other time, and the cause behind it was not a pleasant source. Quite unusual for a forest, don't you think?"

He looked down at the Blood. He ruffled through his pocket once more, pulled out a small white bag, and grabbed a sweet. He popped it into his mouth; he then held the bag out to the Blood. "Should we go check it out?"

"Yes, of course I know of the Timelords... my father told me bedtime stories of the Timelords.. well, that is all I knew about my father... my biological one." She looked down and sighed sadly before looking up at the Doctor. "Well, forests can be weird, giving off radiation places." She smirked slightly as she joked. She looked to the bag he had handed out to her and she smiled happily, she took a sweet and popped it in her mouth and she smiled, she looked up to him and nodded, "Sure! Sounds like fun!" She said in excitement, she had never met a real life Timelord before and she was happy her dreams and those stories came true.

The Doctor grabbed her hand and ran off towards the forest. The path to the entrance seemed to take ages, almost as if the closer they got the farther it became. After a while, the Doctor and the Blood came upon the entrance of the forest. The trees were large and varying shades of green, stretching their knotted and gnarled limbs out and intertwining with each other. The Doctor gazed up to the treetops, admiring it's beauty, then casually disappeared into the treeline.

There was a few sounds of cracking and snapping branches, breaking the stunning silence that engulfed the forest.

Shauna held onto his hand as they ran off towards the forest. She felt the sun rays hitting her skin and she hissed a little in pain but she knew she could withstand it for the max of ten minutes; she knew that the forest wouldn't take ten minutes to get to so she didn't bother to speed up because she didn't want to leave the Doctor behind.

When they reached the forest she smiled and looked around at the pretty trees, she had let go of the Doctor's hand and she kept to the shade as she followed him, stepping on big twigs and even a massive branch and breaking it, which created a loud snapping sound which echoed through the forest, "Oops..." She said quietly, she then rushed to get close to the Doctor, she didn't want to lose him and then she would eventually get lost too. She kept to the shadows of the trees, trying not to go out in the sunlight, she liked the sun and it was pretty but she just hated that she couldn't walk in it's light.

The Doctor looked back at the Blood, shaking his head at her, thanking Rassilon that it wasn't anything bigger or worse thank just that...

"How did you happen to come across a planet like Earth and not give yourself away?" The Doctor inquired. He kept a keen eye on his surroundings as he climbed deeper and deeper into the forest.

As they walked, the scent of marshy soil and must began to waft through the air....

Shauna looked to The Doctor and she did a small smile, "I-I was born here... I had a Human mother... and a Vampire father..." She sighed sadly, looking down slightly as she continued to follow The Doctor. "I never really knew my father, besides the Timelord stories he would tell me... and my mother, all I know she was murdered and her name was Sera." She murmured slightly. "People have tried to murder or get rid of me for centuries-" She paused but kept walking deeper in the forest.

Shauna caught a weird scent and sniffed around, "Marshy soil, no doubt." She muttered to herself as if she was just talking to herself, but she was actually talking to The Doctor too.

"A vampire you say?.....AHHH!" he exclaimed. He looked down at the forest floor, observing a small footprint in the soil. "Here's something odd....take a look."

The Doctor rose up and looked off deeper into the forest. "Well then...what have you heard of the Doctor?" He inquired with a mild curiosity. He reached into his inner breast pocket and pulled out his sonic screwdriver and scanned the area, pulling the collar down causing the device to let out a series of small, shrill beeps and trills. He started walking off into the direction where the device had let out the highest pitch beep.

"Yeah, I am half-vampire." She sighed a little, "No wonder people think of me as an outcast..." She murmured to herself but she murmured it quite loudly. She looked to see what he had found and she knelt down to see the footprint, "That footprint is quite small, a child or a teen, no doubt?" She tilted her head curiously and she stood up from her kneeling and looked to The Doctor as he used his device, the beeps were quite irritating to her sensitive ears but she didn't want The Doctor to stop so she just followed him, her ears twitching at the beeping sounds.

"My dear, i've met far worse in the universe than vampires." He looked at her and gave her a reassuring smile.

"In this galaxy, both in the far reaches and the close quarters, the very dangerous don't stand a chance against the power of good. And when i'm fighting on that side, they usually don't last at all. You know why? They're scared. Are you scared, my dear?" He gave her a small wink. At that moment, a shrill scream came from their left. The Doctor looked up, gave a small glance to The Blood, and started running off into that direction.

Shauna looked to The Doctor and smiled a little, "I guess there is worse creatures than myself..." She sighed a little before looking to The Doctor.

She started listening intently before blinking at his question and she quickly shook her head, "No I am not that easy to-" She was cut off by the scream from her left and she shuddered as her sensitive ears picked it up a bit louder than The Doctor. "Scare." She eventually finished her sentence as she glanced to The Doctor and she ran by his side towards where the scream occurred.

The Doctor disappeared into the bushes, out of the sight of The Blood. There was a loud, metallic *THUNK* and the Doctor let out "OWWWWW!"

A brief quiet filled the forest. The Doctor had his hand on his head, obvious from where he had clunked into something large...but nothing was there in the large forest clearing. At least nothing they could see.

"By the feel of it, it MUST either be a class 900 interstellar space traveling unit OR an elephant who had stumbled into some rather unfortunate invisible paint." The Doctor had his hands out patting down a large object, unintentionally looking like a mime searching for his box.

(Sorry about the delay, it's finals week here so I've been incredibly busy xD Thank you for sticking with me...)

Shauna noticed she had gotten lost and she heard a loud "Owww!" She quickly ran towards the sound and saw The Doctor, "Don't separate from me again... ok?" She said while panting softly as she had been running for a few minutes. "I really haven't ran like that for a while..." She said to herself.

Shauna sighed and looked to The Doctor, "I think it would be a 900 interstellar space traveling unit..." She murmured before patting the large object too, she didn't care if it would make her look a mime like The Doctor did.

((It's fine, I understand ))

"You think so?" He seemed fascinated by the object, reveling in a small bit of humor that he rarely got to use nowadays.

"Where do I remember a space travel unit like this? I know i've seen one...." He began mumbling to himself as he circled the ship, making nonexistent measurements in his head and laying out imaginary lengths with his hands. Soon he began to use his scarf as a measuring tool, letting out the occasional "Ahhhh!"

After a while, and with at least a thousand measurements mumbled out loud, the Doctor finally said something intelligible. "Here it is!"

He grabbed what looked like a small hatch and opened it, revealing a bundle of wires and a small panel. He ripped out a handful of wires and the craft let out a small groan. At that moment, the ship's invisibility faded away, revealing to be what was a large (larger than what the Doctor had thought) interstellar spacecraft in a burnt orange hue. The craft was covered in a dried moss and small aquatic  debris.

The Doctor looked up at the craft, in both shock and awe. He ran around to the other side of the craft, where a look of horror ran across his face. "I know this ship..."

Shauna watched as The Doctor measured the ship and she would smile and giggle a little at the occasional "Ahhh!" sounds he would make every time he tried to measure how big it could be. She looked to the hatch he had grabbed at and she watched as he pulled out some wires.

The groaning of the ship caught Shauna off guard a little and she jumped at the noise. She watched the invisibility of the ship fade away and she followed The Doctor to the other side of the craft and she looked to him, "W-what ship is it?" She asked curiously, she had noticed the horror that had crossed his face.

"I thought I got rid of them ages ago....I dealt with them sixty years ago right here in this same exact spot.." The Doctor was pacing, somewhere between trying to leave and wanting to approach the craft.

"Have you ever heard of the Loch Ness Monster? These creatures...they were it. They are vile octopus creatures from the planet Zygor. Zygons." He looked down at The Blood with curiosity, but there was a small twinkle of courageous fear in there.

The Doctor looked up to the craft, took a deep breath, and began to walk towards the craft's entrance.

Shauna looked to The Doctor, "Sixty years ago? Wow... the rumors about Time Lords is true... you people don't age as quickly. Then again... neither do I." She let out a small giggle with a grin, she was trying to lighten up the tense mood she was getting off The Doctor.

She looked to The Doctor, "The Loch Ness Monster? That's a legend here in Scotland..." She paused before sighing, "I don't know what Zygons are, but if they are the Loch Ness Monster, they must be quite fearless." She said before looking to The Doctor then to the craft, she quickly followed him to the craft's entrance, she looked around just in case of any watchers.

"Time is relative when you're a time lord, my dear." He gave the blood a small smirk as he got to the entrance. "When you wander in the fourth dimensions, you can't measure time the same way again. It can't be measured in a straight line like most people tend to do."

The Doctor examined the entrance, and gave a knock to the door. "Keep a keen eye on these creatures. They're cunning, sly, and worst of all they're a humanoid metamorphic species. They can shape-shift to form anything they want. And I truly mean anything. Even the Loch Ness monster."

The door remained solidly sealed shut, with no sign of life inside. The Doctor took a few steps away from the craft and started examining it from afar. "In their true forms, they're about eight feet tall, dull orange-red, and covered with little suckers. They smell horribly of calamari and moss, close to what we smelled earlier in the forest. Usually they tend to come in large flocks, but this ship in particular..."

The Doctor approached the ship once more. He pulled out his sonic screwdriver once again and adjusted the settings. He held the screwdriver up to the door and pulled down the collar, letting out a small, low pitched hum. The emitter tip lit up brightly, creating a welding tool. The Doctor began to weld through the doors of the Zygon ship, trying his best to create as small of a hole as possible.

Shauna smiled at The Doctor, "I can't measure time anyways... living for 3,001 years is a long time." She giggled a little before looking to the door as The Doctor did a knock. She sighed and looked to The Doctor, "In other words, if there is another me... you will know which one is me, right? I am not that hard to mix up." She said with a slight smirk.

Shauna glanced to The Doctor and then to the entrance of the craft, "They sound like ugly creatures." She grimaced at the thought of what they looked like. She looked to the door while The Doctor used his sonic screwdriver to weld through the door. "Doctor... you asked about how much I knew of your kind... didn't you?" She sighed a little as she paused, "I know a bit from my dad... he said he met two Time Lords... one of them I remember the name of... The Master... I think it was The Master." She shrugged a little and she sighed deeply as she couldn't remember the name of the other one.

"Time is only a human way of measuring how close they are to death. Rather macabre sort of thing anyway. As for your Zygon double...well, I can't make any promises."

He gave her a small smirk."AHH!" The Doctor put away his sonic screwdriver and held onto the panel, as it had started to fall out.

The Doctor slowly let the panel down and reached into the hole created by the missing piece. He reached far into the hole, and clicked a small lever on the inside. The door began to hum quietly, and split open. "That's more like it."

The Doctor got up and began to walk in when he stopped in his tracks. He looked over his shoulder at The Blood, there was a fire in his eyes. "The Master?....I know that name. Far too well, as a matter of fact. What did your father tell you of...him?"

He took his scarf and threw the dragging end over his shoulder and walked inside of the ship.

The interior of the ship smelled of rotted seaweed, much like a musty, dried up swamp. The lights began to buzz on, creating a dim orange glow, revealing the control panels and several seats in the cockpit. In two of those seats sat disfigured looking orangish-red corpses with conical shaped heads covered in suction cups.

The Doctor carefully approached the corpses and started to circle them individually. He gave a small sigh of relief and turned to The Blood. "It's alright, they've all...died it looks like."

He leaned down to examine the corpse. The Zygon bodies seemed to be slightly pale, each face had sunken in and the eyes had glazed over. "IT looks like some sort of death upon impact. There is severe trauma on both of these bodies. What do you think?"
