In Florida, where i live, the only known Doctor Who convention is "Hurricane Who". I've been seriously thinking about going out there and checking it out, after purchasing the suit and trench coat i need to complete my costume. Problem is, at the end of it the total cost for this trip would be over $1,000 and i don't know if it's worth that money.

I just want to know if any of you guys have been to Doctor Who conventions and your thoughts and experiences on them. Were they well worth the money spent?

The biggest convention we have in the US is Comic Con in San Diego, California...and i really don't want to fly all the way over there haha.

I've been to Gallifrey One in LA and to Chicago TARDIS in Chicago, and both were truly exceptional! Just depends on where you live. Very Happy

Hurricane Who isn't the only one. There's also Time Lord Fest that happens in Tampa.

I don't know about that thousand bucks though. I love Who, but $1000 is a lot of money to be spending on one day of nerdy delight.

Up to you, obviously. If you've got the grand to spare then why the hell not?

The grand covers the costume cost plus food and admission for the entire weekend. I know it's a lot of money but if i wanted to go to the big ones (Mega Con, Comic Con, E3) those would cost a whole lot more. But yeah, that's what's keeping me to question whether or not to go. It's in November so i could technically just raise money for it. It'd take me roughly 9 - 10, maybe less, weeks to get that grand if my hours stay in the 20's.

That's why i wanted other people's opinions on their experiences at conventions and if it was worth it or not.
