The Arrow's Weakness

(( Artemis (me) and Ten only! ))

Artemis had been in the hospital - the one in Glasgow - for a couple of months now, a few friends had come to visit her and given her flowers, but none of her family had shown up. Of course none of her family had showed up, they were all deceased so she obviously wasn't going to have any family support; her best friends had offered to support her through it all and she shook them off, telling them they didn't need to pity her and she would be fine on her own, she had been on her own for almost her whole life and she didn't need people paying for her and treating her like she was in an orphanage. The orphanage... that place had haunted her for years, she hated that place, mostly because the staff there would beat her because they felt like it and she was glad she had run away from that hellhole, even though it stopped her from getting adopted by anyone.

Artemis sighed deeply at her memories of the orphanage and a doctor had come in to discharge her from the hospital. Artemis smiled happily as she could finally leave and do something, she knew it was better than laying on a bed for days and days without doing anything. She had put on her usual wear and got her possessions back - her bow and pouch of arrows. The hospital had advised her to keep safe and not to reopen her gun and knife wounds. She sighed but agreed to keep safe, she also told herself not to be so reckless and get shot and stabbed again.

Artemis had been shot two times in the chest and she had a big stab wound in her leg and right arm, all because of a stupid mistake. All Artemis could remember was that the two men were armed, one with a knife, one with a gun. She tried to save a lady the men were trying to rob and she was stuck in between the two armed men, she had shot an arrow at the gunman but missed by a couple of inches and she was shot and stabbed, she also knew that the men weren't normal, they were weird looking, non-human. She also found out that the woman had died because of her lousy mistake. Her wounds had restricted her archery skills and left her another mark of her reckless mistakes. "I suppose I will have to get used to it..." She murmured to herself as she put her dark, green cloak on. She hid her face with her hood as she walked - well she was actually limping - to her home, she started to feel lonely, there was no one to talk to as she wandered back home, her house was quite a while away, about an half an hour walk from the hospital, but she didn't have money on her to pay for a cab. She passed an old man with a newspaper, it had: "People are going missing!" as the title. It caught Artemis' eye but she shook her head and kept walking, her injured leg shook a little, she felt like she could collapse any moment. She didn't understand why, she felt fine until she passed the man. She felt uneasy, like when she tried to shoot an arrow at the gunman, but... she missed because she felt uneasy.

((Quick pointer: When you start out an RP, you, the creator, are tasked with the following. A setting and plot. Placing more detail in the setting helps other members entering because they know what is going on and they can feed off of that. Placing a plot into your intro, it gives the members character a reason to enter and how they would react and eventually enter the situation. Via a murder, or alien presence etc etc. Usually most people will leave it up to The Doctor member to devise the plot and villain but having the other member do it is much more fun and it challenges them to be creative. For instance, i could easily enter this and create a plot out of the top of my head, but it's not my job to. It's the job of the RP creator. So i challenge you to include a detailed plot and setting. You're a great RP'er but implementing these, i promise, will allow more members to come into your Open RP's))

(( Oh ok, I have added about alien presence and people going missing, so I hope that is ok for you, sorry, I am not used to being the one to make up the plot. ))

((The alien presence and murders was just an example. Creativity and Details are big things here, if you can master them then you can do almost anything here. It's good though, don't change it. I will post in it in a bit))

The Doctor paced around the control console, flipping a few switches and pressing a few buttons as he did so then finally stopped in front of the scanner which originally showed a normal flow inside of the time vortex. Then suddenly, it erupted causing the TARDIS to thrust forward, sending The Doctor nearly over the entire the control console. Only stopping himself by holding dearly onto the side of the console then breathing heavily once the shaking had stopped, leaving the TARDIS completely silent. "What was that ey? ey?" The Doctor asked his infamous vessel, patting the time rotor with a raised eyebrow before pulling over the scanner and reading the reports, "What?!" he proclaimed, "But that's impossible! Literally impossible! You'd have to....no..". Rushing over to the main lever, The Doctor yanked it down with authority, his mind and body immediately shifting and running down the ramp as the sound of the TARDIS landing echoed overhead.

Bursting through the doors, The Doctor peered around frantically, looking for something to tell him the date until finally he came upon an older man just about to throw out a newspaper. "Excuse me!" The Doctor proclaimed, running over to the man, "Could i see that? I need to check the date", the man eyed The Doctor curiously before handing him the paper, "November the eleventh...two thousand and thirteen" then walking off. The Doctor nodded, thanking the man for his help as his eyes made their way down to a small article in the paper about people going missing including a handful of scientific researches, "...must not be that impossible..".

Artemis had glanced back at the old man on the bench before seeing someone familiar, her eyes widened and she wanted to run to him, but she couldn't. Her wounded leg was shaking badly and she froze up, not able to move her lower half. She sighed as she looked around, hardly anyone was on the streets, which was strange, this street in Glasgow was always so lively. Artemis narrowed her eyes as she scanned the street, she decided to shout for The Doctor.

"Doctor!" she called for him, she was at the sweet shop, just a couple of shops down from where The Doctor was and Artemis noticed he was reading the newspaper, she smiled slightly, "Of course he would read the paper..." she whispered to herself and did a small giggle. She moved her good leg to walk forward before trying to move her bad leg, she wobbled and fell to her knees and whimpered as a pain shot through her injured leg. She tried to stand back up but failed to do so, she moved across the floor and she sat against the shop wall, unable to get up. She looked to her leg, it still had the bandage on and she wasn't bleeding out or anything, she just thought it could have been the pressure of her walking so far on it, she sighed in annoyance, she didn't like being wounded. She really hated them men for stabbing her and then shooting her to leave her dead in that alleyway.

The Doctor spun around at the call of his name, his attention immediately shifting from the newspaper and over to Artemis as she struggled to walk over to him. Primarily there was a smile screwed onto his facial expression until the sight of Artemis hitting the ground flashed before his eyes. Running over to her, The Doctor knelt down beside her, examining her several injuries before extending a hand down to her to help her up, "Looks like you could use a Doctor" he smirked, gesturing back to his TARDIS with his head. With her arm slung over his shoulder and his right arm around her waist, to make sure she didn't fall again, The Doctor helped her walk down the street. Looking once more at her injuries, The Doctor shook his head as they approached the TARDIS where he gently helped her lean up against its side as he opened the door then aided her through and up its ramp.

Artemis saw The Doctor run over and she held his hand and slowly got up, she let out a small giggle with smile, "Yeah, I guess I could." she smirked slightly before slowly walking - with The Doctor's help -she was hissing slightly at the pain in her left leg, she had her good arm - her left - slung over his shoulder and her bad arm - her right - down her waist, she still had her hood up and she sighed. She lent against the TARDIS' side and she followed him through and up the TARDIS' ramp. "T-thanks Doctor..." she smiled over at him.

"Who would i be if i were to leave you out there" The Doctor replied with a smirk as they approached the control console, "I'm The Doctor, well sort of, but nevermind?" he chuckled, resting her down on the tiny seat beside the console. "I think i may have some healing medicine from the alps of Monti Polouniks world...hang on" He told Artemis, turning and walking over to one of the portions in the ramp floor that acted as storage. Lifting the square ramp portion up, The Doctor scavenged through the items inside, placing some out and on the flooring beside him, "How did you get hurt in the first place?" he called over to her as he checked the contents of a small box, "Ha! Gotcha!" he exclaimed upon seeing the vial inside of it. Jumping up from his sitting position, The Doctor walked over to her with the box and handed it to her, "Put one drop on your finger then rub it on the wound. If you've got more than one then use another drop..shouldn't take long to heal..well...nine minutes or so. Give or take. Keep forgetting i have that...actually..saying that i forgot i still had a lot of things" he admitted, rubbing the back of his head as he turned his attention to the scanner.

Artemis smiled and sat down on the seat gently, she sighed in relief and her injured leg ached still. She looked to him, "Alps of Monti Polouniks? Never heard of it." she giggled a little. She nodded and watched him lift the square ramp portion up and she then sighed and looked down as she explained, "I-I tried to save a woman from being robbed and murdered, I noticed the men didn't seem normal and I felt uneasy, I missed my shot and then I got shot and stabbed... and the woman was murdered." she said sadly, she wanted to help that woman and she failed to do so. She looked up slightly to take the box and took the vial out, she nodded slightly and did a small drop on her finger and she applied it on her stab wound on her left leg, then did another drop and rubbed it on her right arm. She saw him look at the scanner and she did her chest wounds before finishing, "Done." she said, holding out the box for him to take back, she faked a small smile.

The Doctor nodded, taking back the box and put it back where it belonged then slammed the gate down before suddenly his mind clicked. "Who were these men?" He asked her as he moved back to the console, raising an eyebrow as he leaned his back up against the control console to face her and listen to her reply, "Any details you can give me, every bit helps". Inside his mind he pondered the connection between the men Artemis saw and the time displacement that occurred inside of the time vortex and especially the disappearance of the scientists. Then suddenly, there was a knock at the door followed by a very distinct sound of metal footsteps marching til stopping once in front of the door. The Doctor turned towards the door and froze, his eyes wide with intrigue and shock before yet another knock echoed towards them, "Artemis..." The Doctor called in a mumbling tone over to Artemis, "Did those men follow you?".

Artemis lowered her head and sighed, "It was a dark alleyway, but they didn't speak at all, but their footsteps sounded metallic of some kind..." she murmured, she sighed and shook her head, "T-that's all I can remember." she said before hearing the knock and her attention snapped to the door, she heard the familiar footsteps and her eyes widened, she looked to The Doctor as the second knock happened, "M-maybe... b-but I don't know how, I hadn't seen them. They might have been watching from afar." she said back before standing up slowly, she was being careful of her injured leg as she slowly walked to The Doctor, "D-do you know who they are?" she tilted her head curiously.

The Doctor glanced from Artemis and back to the doors, "Cybermen" he hissed before shooting over to the other side of the control console and immediately yanking down the lever, "They can't get into the TARDIS but if they have teleportation beacons then they can bring it on board their ship if they have one..more than likely. But! If they don't know where it is then they can't do anything to it!". The TARDIS de-materialized from the alley way and quickly materialized in another a couple blocks away from the Cybermen and once down, The Doctor released a sigh and peered over to Artemis, "They were once people....converted into machines with the only desire to do the same to others, to the entire galaxy. Those three scientists that went missing, you know them? I mean, what they were working on? Anything about them?".

Turning away from Artemis upon asking, The Doctor moved the scanner over to him and ordered the TARDIS to scan for Cybermen and any Cyber technology, resulting in five blips showing on the radar followed by a medium sized object deep under one specific building, a coffee shop. "There's only five so it's not a huge problem but once they start converting...there's no telling how many there would be.".

Artemis blinked in confusion, she didn't know why, but she had heard the term Cybermen before. She looked to him as he shot to the over side of the console and she smiled slightly, she looked nervous, it was totally obvious but she didn't want to tell The Doctor that she knew what a Cyberman was. She sighed at what he told her, she could imagine the conversion clearly when she closed her eyes. She then opened them quickly, she didn't want to see that sight again. She glanced to The Doctor, "The scientists were people who wanted to create cyber people. They based it off some old guy's work and they wanted to make it so they looked human but where robotic."

Artemis looked to the scanner and looked at all the five blips, she didn't think there would be that many and she was surprised to hear there could be more if they keep converting. She hesitated at first to ask something that was on her mind for a while but she had to tell him, "D-doctor..." She stuttered out his name, sounding nervous and confused at the same time. "Maybe the muggers weren't Cybermen, but were just normal muggers a-and the metallic sound I could hear was probably the Cybermen that c-converted the woman and the muggers, which might explain why the woman's body was never recovered?" she sighed deeply before asking her second question, "A-and why didn't I get taken away?" She looked down as she asked her last question, she was so confused why.

The Doctor leaned up against the console with his hands, shaking his head after she posed the question of why she wasn't converted like the others, "I don't know" he finally replied, "Maybe because you were injured...or..you served some sort of greater purpose for them". Suddenly an idea sprung to his mind as he rushed over to Artemis, flipped out his sonic screwdriver and scanned her quickly up and down her entire body before the screwdriver beeped upon going over her pouch of arrows. Jumping over to the pouch, The Doctor searched through it before slowly pulling out a small blinking red pebble sized object, "oohhh" he hissed with widened eyes as he held it up for Artemis to see, "A tracking device! They didn't convert you because they knew! They knew you'd find me!!!". Turning on his heel, The Doctor bolted to the double doors and yanked them open only to immediately find three Cybermen standing there in front of him, their backs to him.

Slowly The Doctor backed up and halfway shut the doors, knowing they would make a creaking sound if closed fully. Turning back to Artemis, he waved her over, "Keep this with you" he whispered to her once she was close enough to him, handing her the tracking device, "The Cybermen are brutal and won't listen to reason but if i can find the master control system then i can stop them. Their weakness is an emotional inhibitor...it keeps their human emotions suppressed. Destroy that then they finally see themselves as they truly are. I need you to stay inside..they will expect me but half expect you.". He stopped as he peered over his shoulder to make sure the Cybermen were still looking away from them, "Stay here until they are distracted by me. Once then i will give you a signal...sneak around the back and find your way to the master control room. I will be right behind you...i promise. Trust me. I'm The Doctor".

Smiling, The Doctor turned and burst through the doors, making sure to close them so they could not see Artemis, "I'm The Doctor!!!" he proclaimed immediately catching the attention of all five of the Cybermen. The Doctor strode into the center of the ship, spinning around to take in the full view of the ship, "Blimey look at this place" he mumbled as one Cyberman stomped forward, "You are The Doctor. You must be deleted. The Cyber initiative must be completed" it roared. The Doctor spun towards the speaking Cyberman, placing his hands nonchalantly in his pockets, "And what's that? Hmmm? Kidnap hand full of scientists. Muggers and a woman? Convert them? Wait! Hold on...three, three and one. There's only five of you. Where's the other two? Not enough power to convert?". As The Doctor exclaimed against the Cybermen, he signaled towards the TARDIS with a wink of his eye, hoping Artemis would see it as the Cybermen were completely distracted by him.

Artemis looked to The Doctor and sighed, she wondered what that purpose was until he scanned her. She watched as he scanned her with his device and then she saw the blinking pebble shaped device that he took from her pouch of arrows. "Oh, b-but how did they know I knew you?" she wondered curiously before she looked to him as he dashed to the doors and yanked them open. Her eyes widened as she saw the Cybermen stood in front of the TARDIS.

Artemis saw him wave her over and she cautiously walked over to him, she took the tracking device and put it back in her pouch of arrows, she gave a small nod to show she understood everything. She knew what she had to do. 'It shouldn't be so hard right?' she thought to herself. Artemis got herself ready and she knew that she was cured enough to run if needed and she looked to The Doctor, "I trust you, I always have done." She smiled at him softly before he burst through the doors and her eyes widened in surprise, "Great way of distraction..." she smirked slightly. She peered through the TARDIS doors in a small crack, looking to The Doctor. She saw the signal and she readied herself before sneakily and quietly getting out the TARDIS and going around the back, she quietly walked off to find the master control room.

((Yes yes. Sorry haven't been able to post. I have been busy either working or replying to other RP's. I have about six going right now. All very active XD ))

The Cybermen eyed The Doctor very carefully, completely unbeknownst that Artemis was sneaking around them and on her way to the main control room. "We have sustained required power supply for conversion" One Cyberman finally replied, "Right! Course! That's why there's only what..five of you? Six maybe? You know what i think? I think your ship is damaged and you yourselves are on your last limb. Stomping around here like you're powerful but honestly...you couldn't convert me if you tried". The Cybermen stayed silent, glaring at The Doctor coldly before one stomped forward, "The Doctor has no plan. The Doctor will be converted. The directive will proceed" it hissed before The Doctor jumped a step back, flipping out his sonic screwdriver, "Hold on. Hold on. Just one tick. Just one...tiny..tick. You see i notice things. Tiny, seemingly insignificant things. And what i've noticed is that this ship, it's crashed..damaged upon impact. And right above me is a hypercoolant pipeline. Which..well..just like the ship, it's broken. If i set my settings on my screwdriver to vibrate those pipes just a bit more then it should".

Just before finishing his ramble, The Doctor did what he said and activated his sonic screwdriver over the pipeline above his head, immediately causing it to burst. Cold air rushed across the entire room, hitting the Cybermen's systems like a brick wall, causing them to stop right where they were. As their systems tried to upgrade and process the air, The Doctor bolted out of the room and rushed down the same hallway Artemis did. "Artemis! Run!!!" He called out to her once he had her in his sights, knowing the Cybermen would soon follow after them.

Artemis was completely lost on this ship, she had no idea where she was going and what the master control room would even look like. She held onto her bow tightly with one hand as she walked around the ship, she seemed to be going in circles. She sighed deeply and then looked behind her to see The Doctor and her eyes widened as he shouted at her to run, she nodded quickly before beginning to run, she had no idea where she was going but she skidded to a stop on her green heels as she noticed the room in front of her seemed master control room material.

Artemis slowly walked in to the master control room and she glanced around; she was surprised there were no Cybermen to be found in the room and she kept watching, just in case some decided to jump out at her at any moment. She noticed the weird controls and she was confused at some of them, she had no idea what half of them meant, but she hoped The Doctor would be able to understand them, he understood quite a lot.

The Doctor bolted into the room after Artemis, ducking his head to avoid yet another bolt from the Cybermen who furiously chased after them from the hallway. Spinning on his heel, The Doctor turned to the panel next to the door and with the help of his sonic screwdriver, shut and locked the door just as the Cybermen approached it. Breathing a sigh of relief, The Doctor tucked his sonic screwdriver back into his suit and shifted his body and attention over to the main control system which stood in panels around one huge chair connected by cold metal wires. Flipping on his glasses, The Doctor scrutinized the chair and all of it's panels carefully before approaching one standing opposite the chair, "This is supposed to fit the Cyber-king but...no king in sight" he mumbled, glancing cautiously around the room, "I need to rewrite the cybernetic's inside of the Cybermen to exploit the emotional inhibitor then from there i can break it".

Suddenly the doors on the side of the room hissed open and out stomped a large Cyberman, his helmet pained black and red with its eyes glowing a hateful yellow. "Doctor" It roared, immediately catching The Doctor's attention as he flipped his sonic screwdriver to Artemis, "Setting nine if the panel glows green, ten if blue and dial in the dampers if it flashes. When it begins to turn yellow then just activate the screwdriver over the center". The Cyberman took a step just as The Doctor finished and was immediately met by the form of The Doctor dashing madly towards it. The Cyberman took a swing, missing as The Doctor ducked and jumped on top of the robot's back, clinging to it as it stomped around the room trying to pry him off.

Artemis looked at the panel curiously, she then heard the doors on the side of the room hiss open and she turned around and her eyes widened as a large Cyberman came through into the room. She looked to The Doctor and took his screwdriver, "Erm ok." she nodded a little, she was slightly confused but she got the idea.

Artemis went to the panel and watched the large Cyberman and The Doctor, she was making sure the large thing didn't come near her, she glanced at the panel as it started to glow yellow, she activated the sonic screwdriver over the center of it and waited, she had no idea what was going to happen, this was quite exciting but somewhat scary to her.

The buzzing sound of the sonic screwdriver alerted The Doctor, who still rode the back of the Cyberman like a bull rider, only to jump off just as the Cyberman pulsated a wave of electricity over it's body to get him off. Turning to face The Doctor, the Cyberman stomped forward and went to grab him then suddenly it stopped. Frozen, the Cyberman paused for a second before its head began to shake and it began to revel in pain as it fell to its knees. "Artemis! Get down!" The Doctor proclaimed, rushing over to her and engulfing her in a hug as he fell down just as the Cyberman exploded. Looking up, The Doctor released a sigh, "Well that was unexpected....never seen the entire thing explode" he commented before peering back to Artemis with a smile, "You must have really worked that panel right" he chuckled. The Doctor brushed himself off before extending a hand down to Artemis; echoes of other explosions made their way into the master control room followed by a few shakes from each. Suddenly, red lights flashed overhead as one echoed explosion lead to another then one huge one.

The red lights were followed by roaring sirens, "Oh...that's not good" The Doctor mumbling, peering around with widened eyes, "Time to Allons-y!". Turning on his heel, The Doctor bolted out of the master control room and down the hall as flames began to erupt on the sides of the room. The walls of the hall exploded in flames behind the duo as they ran, each one getting a little bit closer, "Come on!!" The Doctor called back to Artemis.
