Why Exactly?

Robin smiled as she was handed a blanket, politely refusing it. After they had all gotten out of the elevator, she had gotten lost in the sea of people. A few officials had asked her what happened, but she just told them she didn't really know. It wasn't entirely a lie - she really did not know everything that happened. Not enough to give proper information. Her eyes searched the crowd for Sonya, finally finding her sitting on the floor, a bit away from the mess. She wandered over to her, back in her normal clothes as someone was there to collect them from her already. Sitting down next to her, she wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "You doing okay? You look a bit shaken up..." She leaned over to try and look her in the eyes to find that wasn't going to happen right now.

Seeing Robin sit down next to Sonya, the man on her other side gestured to the Time Lady with his pen. "Do you know her?" He asked curiously, eyeing the young girl for a moment. "You were down there with them, right? I think I remember seeing you step out of the elevator. Anything else you can tell me? She said something about creatures living down in the mines. Attacked two people then she claims they were only protecting their home. The woman is delirious right now I think. A shocking experience to find your guide dead. It would send anyone into a comatose state." He said sympathetically, looking over at Sonya as he spoke with a pitying expression.

Robin wanted to shout at this man for calling her delirious, but to be honest, that's probably what she was. With a sigh, she looked up at him, frowning. "I've got almost no idea what's down there. In fact, I'd say Sonya would be the only person who really does. And if you really want something to put in your article, why don't you talk about how the tourists didn't care for an interview after seeing several murders." Sticking her tongue out at the man simple because she could, she turned back to Sonya, starting to get rather worried because she wasn't responding. "Sonya?" She took her shoulders and shook her gently, trying to completely ignore the reporter.

A spark flared in Sonya's eyes at the man's words, jerking her head up, she narrowed them at him in distaste. "So, I'm mental because I'm in shock? What I've told you is the truth. I had to destroy one of those creatures and sorry if being in a fit of self-hate makes me mental." She snapped, getting to her feet so she could stare down at him from where he crouched. "There are creatures down there native to this planet. And I can say that with conviction simply because they are made of living diamond. Very hard to see and pick out against an all-diamond background."

Leaning over, she grabbed Robin's hand to pull her to her feet. "Now if you will excuse us. We are going to talk to someone that actually works here, not a damn reporter." Sonya hissed between her teeth, feeling a jolt of pride at his wide eyed, shocked expression before spinning away and disappearing into the crowd with Robin in tow. "Come on, help me find someone that works here."

"And here we go," Robin yelped as she was dragged to her feet and carted along. She had to withhold her laughter until they were far enough away from the man. "That was just brilliant, best speech I've ever heard, and you don't actually know where an employee is." She giggled, eyes scanning the area for the familiar grey and blue uniform. Spotting a man standing near where Sonya picked up the suits in the first place. "There's one," She pointed at him, dragging Sonya along now. "You better not shout at him as soon as we get there. Or else I'm dragging you back to the TARDIS."

"Who's the one in charge here?" Sonya asked cheerfully, striding along next to Robin as she led her over to a worker. "Ah! Yes, you there in the outfit. I have some news for you." She called once they were close enough. The man turned and looked at them questioningly before recognizing who they were. "Oh, you were two that were down there?" He asked, his tone clearly stating he didn't want to hear anything from them.

Ignoring the man's obvious feelings towards information, Sonya stepped forward and slung an arm over his shoulders, leading him away from his fellow workers so they wouldn't overhear. "Listen, what happened down there was impossible and hard to believe. But I can tell you with a clear head and full control of my thoughts, that there are creatures living in those mines. They attacked the guide, and one other member of the group. I saw one, it tried to attack us again, but I managed to.. Subdue it without any harm to us. There are most likely a whole colony living down there. And unless you want more attacks, I would suggest shutting the tour down." She said in an undertone to him, the man looked at her, obviously uncomfortable with how she was treating him. "Listen, lady, I'm not qualified to hear any of this. I'm just an information worker. I tell people where to go when they don't know." He said quietly, shooting a glance over his shoulder at the group of workers he had been standing with.

"I know, but all the more reason to tell you. Why would a lowly worker come up with this on his own? If I had told someone up top, they would have never believed me, and continued to do the tours without delay. You, believe me, and you have connections I don't have. Now all you have to do, is tell people what happened. Just keep telling them, and the story will grow and be passed on from each person until so many people hear about it that the Tours stop on their own from no one showing up." She said with a reassuring shake, a smile flitting around her corners. "Now get going, spread the word and stop that tour yourself."

The man looked up at her and managed a smile of his own. "Alright, you have to have the most daft idea I've ever heard, but it sounds like it could work... I can't promise anything though." Sonya let out a light laugh and dropped her arm from around his shoulders to shove her hand into her jacket pocket. "No worries it will. Now get going." With a last glance at the two of them, he hurried back to his friends and began talking animatedly.

Looking down at Robin with a self-satisfied look, she nodded her head towards where the TARDIS was parked. "Come on, our work here is done."

"Well that was a sudden change in mood." Robin remarked with a smile, preferring the happy Sonya more than the mad one. Beginning to walk towards the TARDIS, she kept looking over her shoulder at the tourists, reporters, and workers still fussing about the situation. She kind of wanted to stay and help them clean up the mess, but she'd rather just leave and let them handle it. It wasn't like they'd let them help anyway, so they might as well move on with their day. "So where to next?" Robin hoped she wasn't just going to dump her back on Earth, but after what just happened, that seemed more likely.

Sonya shrugged her shoulders as they reached the TARDIS, the doors opening once she drew near. Stepping inside, she breathed in with a welcoming smile. "Oh I missed you Lady. You wouldn't believe what we've been through." She murmured, walking over to the controls and beginning to fiddle with them idly. Checking on her stats and energy levels. "Looks like everything is good for now. But I can't say for sure until we've had a proper run rather than a sprint to the finish line." She added, tapping out a couple of commands and checking the screen again. "What do you say to orbiting the Sirius star?" She directed her question to Robin with a curious glint in her eyes.

"Sure, as long as you tell me what that is." Robin smiled, shutting the TARDIS doors behind her. "Assuming it's a star - obviously - but why's it called Sirius?" She questioned, knowing it was a dumb question, but why not. As a wise man once said - probably - there are no stupid questions. Then of course, there was always the next two sentences - one being the stupid question and the other accusing it of being so. Oh well. She sat down in the pilot's seat, watching Sonya navigate or whatever it was she was doing.

"Don't know, someone on Earth just decided on calling it the Dog Star for whatever reason." Sonya replied with a distracted look on her face. It's called several different names in neighboring solar systems, Robin. Earth is in one that calls it Sirius the Dog Star. Over in your neighbor's universe it's called Co'Glar, after the great tribal leader on Singtax." Poking her head under the console, she fiddled with some of the wires, adjusting them quickly then popping back up to look at the screen again. "Ah! Much better, ready to go when you are." She crowed happily up at the time rotor. The TARDIS groaned in response and lit up several of the buttons on her controls.

Robin smiled, moving her hands to grip the chair before they took off. This time maybe she'd have better luck with the whole sliding around on the floor thing. "And why exactly are we going there?" She looked around the console, seeing some of the buttons light up. A while ago she wouldn't have thought that the TARDIS was a proper living creature, but after seeing that just happen, she believed it. Honestly she wasn't sure why she didn't believe in so many things, being a time traveler and all. Back to the matter at hand, she looked to Sonya for her answer and for her to start flying and throwing her across the room.

Sonya typed in a few commands then reached over to the lever, yanking it down without warning. The TARDIS jerked into motion, shaking the control room as they gripped the edge of the console tightly. "We're going there because I want to make sure she can maintain her levels properly while in orbit. Sometimes a TARDIS's energy levels will deplete when doing that." She explained cheerfully to Robin, flashing the girl a grin before reaching over to adjust the flight with a few switches. "And Sirius is a violet star, very pretty to look at with certain glasses on. Speaking of-" Snapping her fingers, Sonya ducked down under the console again and tugged a box out to sort through it on the floor. "Ah! Two ultra violate shades at the ready!" She announced, her hand appearing over the edge of the controls, gripping a pair of sunglasses in them.

Robin yelped as Sonya took off, clinging to the chair with all her might. She grinned as Sonya pulled the glasses out of the box. "Well that should be fun." She giggled, waiting for the TARDIS to stop jerking. Once it did, she climbed down from her perch on the chair and hurried to Sonya to give her a hand up. "Come on then, check the levels or whatever so we can look at a star!" She couldn't help but giggle.

Sonya handed one of the pairs to Robin before making her way to the doors and flinging them open wide with her own sunglasses on. "Oh, would you look at that? A meteor shower! Right on the surface of the star." She gasped in surprise, the bits of rock exploding on the surface and sending violet arcs of fire into space. "That is not something you see every day. It very closely matches when I saw an asteroid hit the surface of Midnight. Sent a huge cloud of diamonds in the air that the sun shone on. A rainbow in space... Magnificent."

Robin squinted her eyes as Sonya pulled the door open, rushing to put the glasses on so she could watch as well. "Woah..." Her smile grew as she stared at the bits of rock flying to and from the star, sending beautiful streaks of deep purple and violet into space. "It's like fireworks... Purple fireworks..." She remarked, completely in awe. It was hard to think you could see something this beautiful from Earth. As if anyone would actually be able to see it this close, though.

"My sentiment exactly." Sonya grinned over at Robin then clapped her on the shoulder. "Enjoy the view. I have some tuning I have to do before I settle down." She called over her shoulder as she walked back to the controls and began typing in commands, her eyes glued on the screen as data began to scroll up on it in lines. "Oh, and let me know if something just doesn't seem right with the star. You never know, I'm not saying it will, but with a shower happening, sometimes a larger rock will kick up a rather big arc of fire, and the last thing we want is for that to hit the TARDIS."

Robin nodded, not taking her eyes off the star. It was just so wonderful, she had to have a closer look at it. Leaning forward, she gripped the edge of the doorway, her head just inside the TARDIS. She watched it for a bit... and now it was boring. Waiting for Sonya to finish up with the readings, she kept watch on the star like she was told, eyes following the violet lines as they were drawn in, starting to count them.

Walking up behind Robin, Sonya felt a grin appear on her face as she stared out at the brilliant star in front of them. "Glad I brought you here?" She asked quietly, trying not to scare the girl as she stared out at the scene. "Because I have to say, I am pretty happy I came too. I haven't visited Sirius for quite a few years, glad I could find a reason to come back." Laughing lightly, she leaned against the doorway and stared out at the rocks as they plummeted to the surface of the burning star. "Haven't seen this before though."

Robin nodded, turning to Sonya. "So are the levels all good? There's somewhere I haven't been in a long time that I've wanted to go to. How's New Earth sound?" She grinned up at the Timelady, up for some more adventure. At the very least, she could visit her friend and explain why she hadn't been there in so long.

"I don't mind, as long as we don't run into those cat people. They really don't like me after my whole 'litter box' comments..." Sonya trailed off, leaving the comment unfinished as she wandered back over to the controls and began setting the coordinates and levels for the ride. "Close the doors would you? Last thing we need is to have them open while going through the vortex. That is something you wouldn't want to see girlie. Not a happy thing, the vortex. It makes you think of all the bad things that could happen or will happen. Makes you think of all the good things that will wither away within years..." She looked up and managed a light smile as she studied Robin's face. "Not a happy life, Time Lords. Thinking all the time, every day a million things in our heads. Be happy you don't have that."

Robin sighed, her smile gone as she closed the TARDIS doors. "Well that can't be fun..." Turning back around to Sonya, she smiled a bit. "At least you're an alien - to me, anyway. That's really cool. I'm just a boring old human." She shrugged, walking up to the console to watch her work. "I have no idea why you people hang around Earth so much, it's not like it's special." Hovering her finger over a button, she shot Sonya a mischievous grin - "What's this button do? Can I find out?"

Sonya glanced over and tilted her head in thought. "I guess it's because Earth is so... Different, exotic, the closest we'll have to home. Granted it is nothing like it, but the society is vaguely familiar. But then again, I was abandoned on earth as a small child. So in all senses, it is my home. I may not have been born there, but I have lived most of my long life on it." She fell silent, thinking over Robin's question again then looked back up with a smile. "I think it's because it is so helpless and young in comparison to the universe. You lot have barely taken a step out into space, hardly realize the existence of other species on different planets. Your like a child, learning how to walk. And any child learning, needs a teacher to help."

Her eyes shifted over to the button that Robin indicated then grinned brightly with an enthusiastic nod. "That's the MP3 function. Go ahead and push it, let's see what Lady has in store for us today, yeah?" Reaching over, she gripped the lever and pulled it down sharply, sending them back into the vortex once again.

"An MP3 on a spaceship? Well of course there is." Robin giggled, pushing the button to see what kind of music the TARDIS had. Eyes widening as Justin Bieber played through the speakers, she rushed to find the same button as before and turn it of. The TARDIS silent once more, Robin frowned. "I don't think she likes me..." She crossed her arms, glaring down at the console.

Sonya let out a burst of laughter as she reached over to press the button herself, making the song 'sweet dreams' start playing through the speakers. "She's just playing with you. If she didn't like you, she would have made that pretty clear by not letting you in." She added with a grin on her face. "She's very picky about who she lets in."

Watching the screen for a moment, she reached over and yanked the lever back down and landed the TARDIS easily. "Alright, lead the way. This is your venture now, let's go see your friend." She said cheerfully, adjusting her jacket before striding over the doors as they swung open on their own. "Come on then."

Robin turned to Sonya, frowning in confusion. "I didn't say that out loud, how'd you know that?" She crossed her arms, walking towards the door but pausing to wait for Sonya to answer her question. "I don't know too much about Timelords, but I'm pretty sure you can't just read minds. Can you?" Robin's frown disappeared, replaced with a look that said - 'oh, well I'm stupid.'
