| 'Twinkle Twinkle little star' A child, blinking in the early light of dawn. Hands reaching out to grasp at the small shafts of light shining down, making the dust motes sparkle. Laughter bubbling forth, lips forming an 'o' in awe of the sparkling light. A whisper, a name called causing the head to turn and look towards it.
'How I wonder what you are.' Whispered words, causing trebles and soft, fearful cries. Painful needles piercing sensitive skin, held by hands meant to protect, causing pain and horror instead. Cries went unanswered, tears gone unwhiped. Arms waving, gone unnoticed, whispered words forming empty promises, child living in hell.
'Up above the world so high.' Tentative movements, untrusting, wary of any who look. Sneaking in the shadows, keeping out of sight, living in the dark instead of embracing the light. Eyes, shifting from side to side while attempting to move out of the dark room of horror, the room causes pain, causes nightmares. Wanting out, wanting away from the needles and fear.
'Like a diamond in the sky.' A yell, a calling, causing the head to jerk upward and look around in fear. That voice, it causes pain, each time it sounds, more needles, more knives, more tests and pain. Needing out, needing to run, to keep away to never stop. Turning towards the door, feet moving faster, arm reaching for the handle only to be grabbed from behind. A cry of fear, a dull pain at the back of the head, then darkness, only darkness remained.
'Twinkle Twinkle little star.' Blinking eyes, pounding pain in the head causing a wince and soft moan of terror. Dull voices, drawing attention, turning eyes from side to side until they land on the owners. Woman and man, standing above, talking as if nothing was wrong. Calculations, refusals, agreements, finally, an outcome to be used. More needles, more cutting, electric currents from the shocks in legs making the spine arch upwards.
'How I wonder what you are.' Screams, anger, fear and mindless violence. The dead are littered around feet, children and adults alike, no one is spared from the horror. Dull voices try to break through a mind full of anger, hazed out by the internal struggle to regain control. Another body, another scream of terror then silence as feet finally stop moving. Coming to, seeing the destruction and feeling a portion of soul shatter into nothing.
'Twinkle twinkle little star, I wonder just how very far, I will go to learn to fly, Grow my wings and start to lie, Twinkle twinkle little star, Now my heart is just a scar.' | |
