The Click of a Lock (Master, Sonya)

A low huff of frustration left Sonya's lips as she stared at the TARDIS scanner in front of her. A quick glance around the control room reminded the Time Lady that she was, indeed, alone before she swore out loud at what she read.

After the ninth Doctor kindly (Unknowingly) let her borrow (Steal) his TARDIS, the first thing that came to mind when she set off into the vortex was to find someone to travel with. Someone she knew, not a random person. She was done with random people at the moment. Tired of them, tired of continually explaining herself and what she was every time she turned around. No. She needed the comfort only an old friend could provide.

So she set off, hopping from planet to planet, time to time, searching for any familiar faces nearby that might have just enough free time for a jaunt. Just a quick one, maybe a few days to a week at the most. So when the scanner pinged saying that there was a familiar readout nearby, her hearts leaped until she read who it was.

Her brother of all people, of course it would end up with it being him nearby and no one human. She wanted a human around, their questions were more refreshing than annoying. They didn't constantly try to irritate her out of habit either, but no, that little irritant was the closest she would get to company, then she'd have to take it.

With a heavy sigh, she reached over and picked up the coat and black scarf she had been wearing more recently. The coat, with it's wide pockets (bigger on the inside) made for a better place to stash her things instead of lugging around that ragged backpack she had been for the past... Oh fifty years?

Glancing back at the console one more time, Sonya shook her head and trudged down the ramp, already knowing the first words from his mouth will be sarcastic at best. "I swear, he says one wrong thing and I'm dropping him off on Clom and leaving him there."

The Master sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. What was he supposed to do now? His plan to use the Toclafane to take over the planet, which he would then turn into a warship failed miserably thanks to Martha Jones. And being shot by his wife hadn't quite killed him, but it was enough to convince the Doctor. Of course, that meant the Doctor had left with his TARDIS, and now he'd have to find something else entirely.

His thoughts were interrupted by a sound like someone scraping a key against piano strings. A sound he new all too well. It was the sound of a TARDIS materializing. He raised an eyebrow wondering who would possibly be showing up in a TARDIS. It was unlikely that is would be the Doctor, considering what had happened. There was only one other person he could think of that is might be. A grin began to form on his face, the corners of his mouth turning upwards.

Regardless of whoever was inside, this might be his chance to get off this planet. Temporarily, at least. His plans would probably involve Earth. They pretty much always did. It was an easy way to get to the Doctor, and anyway, this was a fairly useful planet. He approached the doors and knocked. If it was who he thought it was, he may have to slightly alter his plans, but he was flexible.

A muffled swear drifted through the wood of the door before it was flung open to reveal a very irritated Sonya with her arms crossed over her chest and sharp blue eyes narrowed up at her brother's face. "You know, it's really rude to scare someone into their next regeneration by knocking on a door they're not expecting someone to knock on." She muttered mulishly, turning around to stalk back up towards the console, already knowing he'd follow her inside.

In the few seconds she studied his face before speaking, the Time Lady already knew she was facing a very young Master. One that was most likely still hell-bent on destroying the Earth and the Doctor no doubt. Glancing over her shoulder at him, she frowned slightly in concentration, studying his features with a critical eye before turning back to the controls in front of her. "Care for a quick trip? Borrowed Lady from the Doctor and decided to go on a joyride. Though, with that face of yours, I'm not too sure how she's going to react to you being here."

Pausing slightly, she chewed on her lower lip, slipping deeper into her thoughts as she tried to pinpoint exactly when she was in his timeline, her inner senses already running along it before finally coming to a single point that signified where she stood. "Ah, so... Failed again huh? You'd think you'd give up trying to do this considering how many times he's beaten you. Without using force I might add."

"One of these days," he said, walking in and shutting the door behind him, "One of these days, I'm going to have this planet and the Doctor won't be able to stop me using it to take over the rest of them. For now, though, I guess a quick trip won't hurt." He wasn't entirely certain this was true, but he still had to have hope. He couldn't just give up and let the Doctor win. After all, he'd worked so hard and done so much. He'd gone against the Doctor so many times. One more loss might hurt a little, but he couldn't just quit. Besides, if he kept at it, he could win.

Speaking of the Doctor, where was he? A quick scan of the room was all it took to determine that it was only him and Sonya. "So, dear sister, where is the Doctor, anyway? Is he hiding somewhere in here, or has he let you take his precious TARDIS away for a while?" he asked, pausing, "You didn't plan to stop here, or if you did, you didn't tell the Doctor." It wasn't a question. He suspected it was a bit of both: the secrecy and the lack of any actual plans.

Snorting slightly, Sonya cast an amused glance over at her brother at his question. "Do you honestly think he would willingly let me fly his TARDIS without hovering over my shoulder the entire time?" Reaching up, she ran a hand through her hair idly, a small scowl twisting her features when she realized it was growing too long for her taste before shaking off that thought to continue what she was saying.

Turning to fully face him, she leaned against the edge of the controls, hands resting on either side of her on the cool metal, nails tapping away idly. "He doesn't exactly... Know per-say that I have Lady right now." She finally hedged, a faint pink dusting her cheeks at the admission then fading away just as quickly as it came. "Besides, he's just angry that she likes me flying her more than him anyway. I'm the one that ends up fixing her whenever something goes wrong because he usually just lets it sit like that for weeks until he finally decides it's become enough of a problem to warrant his attention."

Huffing, Sonya turned back around and began fiddling with the controls, her focus on what she was doing, her mind still focused on her brother at the same time. "Anyhow, it doesn't matter, I can bring her back minutes after I took her, so he won't even realize it. Well... Unless he checks her database, but the one I took her from doesn't do that sort of thing... I think, he might considering he's usually the one I take her from."

Trailing off, she scratched at her chin in thought, eyes drifting up to gaze at the central column without really seeing it. "Even if he did find out, there's no way he can keep me out of her. She opens the doors for me even when I didn't have my key at the time."

“Of course he wouldn't,” a ghost of a smile flashed across the Master's face. “You stole the TARDIS,” he laughed softly to himself, slightly amused, “Although, it really doesn't matter. Like you said, you can be back before he knows you're gone. And anyway, I never said it was a bad thing, I was simply trying to discern what was actually happening here. After all, I stole her not too long ago.”

Not actually having any interest in talking about his most recent failure, he quickly changed the subject, “So, where are we going? Anywhere specific in mind?” He walked over to the jump seat, opting to lean on it rather than actually sitting down. Sitting wasn't really a concern of his at the moment.

He watched his sister with only mild curiosity, half of his mind still elsewhere. He knew this trip would no longer provide an opportunity to set a plan into motion, but maybe he could use the time to think. Staring in the general direction of Sonya, he idly messed with his ring.

"Well, I do happen to recall a Neutron star collapsing in on itself right next to the Nebalian Galaxy. I'm sure it'll be something worth seeing, who knows, maybe we'll get to see the Galaxy get drawn into the new black hole if we're lucky." Shooting an idle glance over in his direction, Sonya flashed a wild smile then turned back to the controls, hands still flying across them without any difficulty. "Or we could travel to Neubalian and watch their Bre`ka tournament. Sorta like the Olympic games on Earth but... Violent. Figure that might interest you."

Stopping suddenly, she turned to face him fully and crossed her arms over her chest, leaning back against the edge of the console while studying her brother in silent contemplation, blue eyes not missing a single thing as they assessed him. "You got shot on the Valiant, didn't you? I remember hearing about this you know." She finally said quietly, wanting to help him, but at the same time, knowing full well it wouldn't do any good considering his stubborn nature. "We may not have the same views, but I am your older sister, Mister. I'm here to talk to if you need it."

Turning back around, she ignored the slight pang she felt in her chest from using her old nickname for him when he was a child. Just an infant really when she got along with him. Long before things got worse with her parents. When she still had a chance to spend time with him anyway.

The idea of watching a violent tournament sounded pretty good to him, and he smiled slightly at the suggestion. However, his smile faded at the next question. He placed a hand on the left side of his stomach where he'd been shot, remembering his wife shooting him, the Doctor begging him to regenerate, him asking the Doctor whether the drums would stop, shutting his eyes, and then he'd passed out.

He shook his head as if trying to shake the thought out of his mind completely. He sighed, he felt... something. Something almost like guilt, though he'd never admit it. “Maybe I did. But why would I need to talk about it, Sonya? What is there to say? I was shot, my plans were ruined, and now I'm here. It's as simple as that,” he answered with a shrug.
