An awkward meeting.

Theta glanced between the baby and the girl standing next to him, shaking his head.

"Ugh, humans, I'll never understand you. You have the chance to see the stars, but instead only want to see yourselves. This could cause a paradox, you know..."

"I thought that only happens if you touch each other?" Myra asked as she looked at him then back at the baby.

"Yeah, but..." Theta threw his arms up into the air "how do I know you wouldn't? Or maybe you'd change your personal history somehow. I dunno, I never know what you humans are thinking when you do things like that!"

"because i dont want to touch the baby version of me i just want to look." myra said as she looked at theta again.

"Whatever" Theta mumbled, leaning against the wall and letting his head fall back onto it with a bump. While he did say they could go anywhere, this...this was just too much boring for him. Not enough running, not enough big creepy aliens. It was just them sitting here, looking at babies.

Myra looked back at Theta and saw that he was bored so she decided to see if he wanted not go some where. "Hey Theta do you want to go get ice cream?" Myra asked in a cheery mood.

Theta smiled, face lighting up at the prospect of the cold treat.

"Yeah, sure!" As they began to walk the way they came, Theta had a bit more spring to his step. Ice cream was good any time period you were in. Much better than looking at babies. Babies were cute, yes, but it kind of wore off once you've seen a Drubble. Now if anything in the universe was cute, it was those. They were much like a blue lemur, big wide eyes set into their face, and fuzzy cat like ears permanently bent back so that they always looked ashamed about something or another.

"Ice cream is good; one of the best things you humans invented. You know, I haven't had ice cream since being on DauMamur..." he got that distant look in his eyes again, but it left as quickly as it had come, leaving no indication that anything was ever wrong "my favorite flavor has to be wolf tracks; you know, that one with peanut butter and chocolate and caramel and nuts all blended together? What about you, Myra?"

"Mine happens to be moose tracks. It's a bit like that. I'm sorry if I brought you here for no reason it's just I never saw any of my baby pictures and well I wanted to see what I looked like as a baby." Myra said as they walked out of the hospital and to the park.

Theta laughed stepping over the curb onto the sidewalk. Only one or two blocks down stood the park; children played on a small jungle gym and on swing sets on one side of the park, while the other side had some nice benches surrounding a pond. Right in the middle stood a gurgling fountain, cool water bubbling over the top and splashing back down into the pool below. The ice cream vendor had a small cart set up next to the fountain.

"It's fine; I just get bored easily. It happens when you have all of time and space to see, you know? There's just no time to be patient"

"Ok I get it." Myra says as she walks over to the ice cream vendor and pays for her and thetas ice cream.

Theta walked away from the ice cream vendor with Myra, licking his ice cream cone happily. It was really hot outside, so he attempted to eat if fast enough so that it wouldn't melt; little sticky drops were already sliding down the cone and onto his hand. He sat down on the edge on the fountain.

"Thanks Myra; though honestly, I could have payed for it; I'm not exactly short on money"

Theta looked up into the sky, just letting himself relax for once. It was a nice, albeit a hot, day. White poofy clouds floated lazily in the sky, which was a bright blue. Birds of all colors and sizes twittered and chirped, chasing each other around in the sky like some sort of aerial dance, darting from one park tree to the next. The sound of children on the playground drifted over in the wind. Theta began to munch on his cone, since he had worn the ice cream down enough to do so.

"Ahh, Earth. I love Earth. There aren't many other planets like this, or at least from what I've seen. It's just so...beautiful"

"Ah I just thought I'd be nice and buy your ice cream." Myra said as she sat down next to Theta. "So what are the other planets like?"

Theta laughed, licking the cone where some ice cream had melted.

"Other planets? You can't just sum it up in a paragraph or two, there are just too many out there. Some are like Earth, but some are radically different. Like I've seen a planet with a world-wide, year-long carnival! I've been to a planet where everything glows. There is even one called NewLux; most of the civilization lives in artificial rings that surround the planet"

"Oh ok." Myra said as she finished her ice cream. She then splashed a little bit of water on theta for the fun of it.

Theta laughed, finishing off his ice cream and raising an eyebrow, smirking in challenge.

"Do you really want to start that? I've been in a world-wide water war before..."
