Murphy's Law

"'If it can go wrong, it will,'" Elena mumbled to herself as she bandaged her hand. "Should be 'if it can go wrong, keep Elena away from it'..." She glared at the bookshelf that had pinched her. "You're going down, shelf. You've gone too far this time. You're being replaced." She suddenly realized that she was talking to an inanimate object. Out loud. She needed to get out of the house. Not that she had anyone to socialize with... Maybe it would be better if she just talked to her cat. As usual.
No. She definitely needed to go somewhere. Somewhere other than the library, for once.
She put some shoes on and walked out, hoping to find something to do so that maybe she'd stop talking to the furniture out of sheer boredom.

Fucking her head slightly, Sonya walked out from under a nearby tree, her eyes squinting in the bright sunlight as she raised a hand to shield them from the sun. "Nice sunny day, no problems in sight... Maybe today won't be so bad for once." She murmured to herself, hands in her pockets as she started down the sidewalk, humming softly to herself as she strode along. Paying no attention to the other people walking past her while Sonya tilted her head to the side, a easy smile hovering on her lips at the sight of a park full of children, laughing and playing loudly with each other.

Elena glanced away for just a second, and of course bumped into someone. "S-sorry!" she stammered. "Geez, I'm such a klutz..." She rubbed the back of her head nervously, suddenly remembering why she never went anywhere.

(by the way. I am SORRY for my part. I didn't even realize what it said. My phone has auto on it)

Blinking her eyes, Sonya rubbed her head lightly and flashed the girl a grin. "no harm done. I'm alright, and by the looks of things so are you." brushing her shirt off, Sonya held a hand out and smiled brightly. "the name is Sonya. Pleasure to... Bump into you." She added with a wry chuckle. "I should really watch where I'm going, or is end up hurting someone one of these days."

[I figured AutoMangle had struck again.] Elena shook the offered hand. "Elena Finch," she said shyly. "I, um, it was probably mostly my fault... It usually is..."

"Ah, don't blame yourself for things that aren't your fault. It was out of both of our control really, considering both of us seem to be distracted by things." Sonya laughed lightly and shook Elena's hand with a grin. "Sonya, just Sonya. And again, don't worry about it, I've been hit on the head harder than this so its really nothing."

[Sorry I've been gone so long. Exams bleh,] Elena smiled, relieved. "It's nice to meet you, Sonya," she said. "So, uh... Nice weather we're having."

[This is why I'm glad I'm not in school anymore. I can waste my life on here lol]

Letting out a slight laugh, Sonya glanced up at the sky and grinned over at Elena. "Yes... I suppose the weather has been good. Only been here for a few minutes, much better than Africa at this time of year... All rain and wet. I felt like I had jumped into a swimming pool the second I stepped outside. Not exactly a place to spend your vacation if your looking for sun."

"Africa?" Elena's eyes widened. "You've been to Africa? That's so cool..."
[Something bad needs to happen because Murphy's Law, but I'm not sure how to make it happen... Gah!]

"Yes Africa, and Japan, and the Mayan islands..." Sonya counted off on her fingers, a small smile on her face as she did. "I've been nearly everywhere on this planet and honestly, I couldn't see enough of it each time. I want to see every corner, every hiding place and every wonder of the world." Casting a smile over at Elena, she stuffed her hands into her pockets and glanced around the area with interest. "Speaking of which... Where exactly are we?"

(I don't know either. You should pick something to be the antagonist. Then bring them into the storyline.)

"The corner of Morgan and Stephen F. Austin Avenue. Dime box, Texas." [casually picks small town with a funny name, looks at it in Google Maps, and picks some streets] As she finished her sentence, something down a nearby street exploded. Elena yelped in surprise and whirled around. "Oh, please tell me that's not the library..." She took off running toward it, and quickly realized that she was dreadfully out of shape. Probably because she spent all her time either reading or organizing books and often forgot to eat.

Sonya blinked and trotted along beside Elena, quietly amused at the slow pace that she ran at towards the explosion with. "You really don't exercise much... Do you?" She asked curiously, glancing in the direction they were headed in time to see the first trails of smoke drift up into the air and picked up her pace slightly without realizing. "On the other hand, you hear an explosion and immediately worry about the library... Not any apartments or houses, but the library?" She added as an afterthought as soon as it struck her, she looked back over at Elena with her eyebrows raised up slightly in surprise.

"There aren't any houses where the explosion came from," Elena panted.
