Personality: George is your typical otaku. He seems to live in a fantasy world where his nerdy obsession is his strongest concern, sometimes over more realistic issues like college. Despite this, when amongst more eccentric characters, he becomes more of a straight man. George also has insecurity issues, and becomes obsessive about his name or weight if either is mentioned. He's also worried that he'll never be able to get a date. In dangerous situations, George can also be incredibly weak and cowardly, though he has the potential to become braver.

History: Jackson George Daniels was born to Roberta Daniels in Lahaina, Maui in 2364. Roberta had always had a problem with alcohol consumption and one consequence was that she ended up naming her pride and joy after her favorite brand of liquor. Mostly because Daniels was already their surname. Her son, despite the close bond he would eventually have with his mother, was always uncomfortable with his association with the alcoholic beverage and made it a habit to introduce himself with his middle one. It wasn't just his name that George was uncomfortable with. He didn't have the heathiest diet and started gaining weight. When he'd look down and see how "pregnant" he'd become, George would always resolve to workout and eat better, but would quickly and easily fall back into old habits. As a result of his failure to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and partially because of how it might affect his attractiveness to others, he was never happy with his weight and his body size.
Roberta could never tell who the father was, and since no one approached her, didn't bother to find out. She didn't want to upset her son's life if his father didn't want to accept that role. As a result, Roberta tried her best to raise him as a single mother, even maintaining periods of abstinence, though she'd always relapse. Even if she wasn't the best parent by other's standards, it was good enough for George. There's no one he reveres more than his mother.
Despite not knowing who the father was, George does know of one some of his ancestors from his mother's side, most notably Captain Jack Harkness. His mother told him the story of how he'd met and slept with another of George's ancestors, and how he lived a very long time. However, George doesn't know of the captain's immortality and assumes that he's long dead.
Growing up, George had no social life outside of the otaku culture club he was a part of in high school. As a result he spent his free time obsessing over anime, manga, and Japanese culture. He even hoped to live there when he moved out. Ultimately, George stumbled upon study abroad program and eagerly joined it. Currently he is residing in Tokyo in a cheap apartment with a roommate, a job as a clerk in a store nearby, and a college career.

George looked inside the pack he was holding. There were two food items, a flashlight, matches, a rubber duck, a raincoat, and, surprisingly, the Doctor's screwdriver. He didn't know how he or the doctor had gotten here, only that the eccentric alien was now on the opposite side of a road, lying on the concrete. Everywhere around them was complete black, with the exception of a store sign whose light illuminated George and a street lamp that illuminated the doctor's prone, unconscious body. He knew the doctor was unconscious because repeated attempts to call out to him didn't get him a reply. He would've crossed the street, but somehow he knew that doing so would result in immediate death.
George wondered how the doctor would handle this because he was seriously freaking out. He wasn't the one who had to handle situations like these. He was the one who needed rescuing. Dropping the pack on the concrete, George clutched his head and began pacing around his small circle of light. Then his eyes fell on the sign. And he knew what he had to do next. Pausing to glance back at the doctor, as if wondering what he'd say, George took a deep breath, and jumped into the black.
He hadn't committed suicide. The sign was too similar to one he'd seen in an anime. Which meant that what he was experiencing was false. He'd jumped into the darkness to prove that he had nothing to fear. The so-called presence of the Vashta Nerada was planted in his mind to make the experience feel real. But if he was right, committing such a foolhardy action would prove that he knew of this world's falsity. And it worked. The instant he'd done so, there was a loud whirring sound and everything disappeared, except the pack and the doctor. They were both in a white metallic room. George rushed over to the doctor. Whatever was happening, he'd know how to get them out of it.
