Welcome to the Universe

Sonya turned around and eyed Theta curiously. "It's called caffeine. It causes an intense rush of energy to your system. It won't last long, relax." She cautioned him softly, trying not to draw attention from the other customers around. "Sit down before someone starts to complain, please, Theta." She added, her eyes flicking to the seat next to her before retuning her attention to Mal with an apologetic grin. "Found him at the bottom of the harbor in his.. Well, it's a TARDIS, but it's not like the one the Doctor has, more advanced if you can imagine that." Sliding into the booth opposite of Mal, she rested her elbows on the table and let out a low sigh, her eyes sliding over to Theta again with a small frown. "I never acted like that at his age, I feel exhausted."

"TARDIS? There's more than one?" Once the question was out of her mouth Mal felt stupid. She sighed heavily and nodded a greeting to Theta nonetheless. "I'm Mal. Just Mal." Retrieving another chip from the basket, she stuffed it in her mouth and chewed slowly so she could think over her words. "I was too busy parenting my mum to really act like that. Probably why... never mind." Mal cleared her throat and turned to stare out the window. She realized her hands had began to shake which caused her to sigh once again. Raising off her seat lightly, she trapped her hands between the seat and her bottom. "So how did you end up in this time and place? Weren't you travelin' with the Doctor?"

Theta scratched his head curiously, sliding into the booth with them.

"The Doctor? Doctor who? I just came here in my TARDIS, if that'd what you're asking. Caused that big humongous splash, if you saw that" he gestured unnecessarily with his hands to make the point.

"I was for a bit, but he ran off on some random adventure like usual." Sonya huffed slightly, she enjoyed spending time with the Doctor, at least while she was around him she didn't feel so odd. Reaching over, she patted Theta on the shoulder and leaned close to him. "She's talking about another Time Lord we both know." Flashing him a small smile, she leaned back and studied Mal again. "What are you even doing around here anyway? Last I heard you were across the continent."

"Who told you I was across the continent? I've been here ever since Troy." Mal cleared her throat and offered Theta a tight smile. She wasn't the greatest at meeting people but she figured she would at least attempt to include him in the conversation. After plunking another chip in her mouth she continued to talk, "Weird things have been going on. Dunno if you've noticed or not. How long, exactly, have you been here?"

Theta shrugged, finally getting wraps on the extra energy and storing it away.

"I dunno, fifteen, twenty minutes? Not long"

But who was this Doctor guy? He'd never heard of him, and Theta knew tons of timelords. Now that he thought about it...he couldn't feel his psychic link with the others, either. He wasn't the best at opening the link, but the pure absence of anything except his TARDIS couldn't have been normal.

Sonya raised an eyebrow at Theta then looked back at Mal with a shrug of her shoulders. "I've been here for a couple of days. But mostly been keeping myself under the radar, I've faced enough creatures and whatnot in the past two years to last me through a couple of regenerations." Folding her arms on the table in front of her, she frowned at it while she thought. "I heard some things about people vanishing lately. But I wasn't sure how much of what I had heard was true. Lots of stories always end up being warped like Chinese whispers."

Mal tilted her head to the right, eyebrows furrowed in thought. "Disappearings again? Jeez, why does that always seem to happen?" She plunged her hand into the chip basket and stuffed a few in her mouth. She chewed thoughtfully before grumbling inaudible words. After clearing her throat, Mal muttered, "Does this mean I'm going to get stuck trying to figure out why this is happening? I'd rather just remain ignorant, watching telly in my flat." Her hands came to grasp each other, preventing her nerves from showing to the two in front of her. Sonya made a very agreeable statement. Mal had seen more alien crap then she would have liked. None would have been the preferred amount.

Theta sighed, frustrated. He thought she'd been talking to him...again. But fine, ok, he guessed he'd actually go do something while they caught up. He honestly had no clue what they were talking about, only that apparently they hadn't seen each other in a while and there were people going missing. He stood, mumbling a "I'm going to go get more chips" then walking over to his and Sonya's original table.

Theta sat down, nibbling on a chip and taking out his sonic, playing with the settings on it. Koschei had gotten it for him on some human colony in the 52nd century. It had been his 18th birthday, back when he was still in the Academy, two years before he got his TARDIS. There had been a small get together with his parents, Romana, Kos, and some Lungbarrow cousins he was close to. They'd had some food and talked, then they'd brought out a few presents. Romana, the studious girl she was, had gotten him some books on Temporal Physics. He'd gotten a few extra academy robes from his cousins. His mom had made him a quilt, embroidered with an old Gallifreyan poem in circular. Then Kos had looked around and couldn't find the present he'd brought. But Theta had noticed his pet flubble chewing on something small, like a pen, just metallic. Kos had blushed as red as the grass and snatched the item from her six paws, then handed him the sonic screwdriver with a "here's your present". They'd all gotten a laugh of that. He never went anywhere without it after then; it still had some of the chew marks, though he thought it made it look more unique.

Theta realized he was homesick. Illogical; he could just go back to Gallifrey whenever he wanted. But something just didn't sit right in his stomach, a worry that made his hearts flutter nervously.

Sonya glanced over her shoulder at Theta, letting out a low sigh at his facial expression. Turning back to Mal, she leaned closer so she could speak in a softer voice where he couldn't hear her. "I think he's from another universe like I am, Mal. He doesn't know about the war that happened here or for that matter that nearly every Time Lord is gone along with Gallifrey..." She whispered softly, casting another look at Theta with sadness. The poor boy was not ready for what was in store for him here, and she knew it. Putting her head down on the table, she let out another low sigh. "I don't know if I should just tell him or let the guy go out and figure it for himself. You know, its kinda difficult to tell someone that they're entire species is pretty much extinct..."

Mal had a very dumb expression on her face, "You're from another universe? Never mind, just don't bother saying anything..." She shook her head. After running into the odd and ridiculous things she has in her life, Mal would like to think she would stop feeling shocked or fearful when she discovered something previously unfathomable. "I think you should just.. befriend him, you know? E-everyone needs a friend. It's easier to judge what to do when you know someone too. At least that's what I've read and stuff." Mal glanced behind her and at Theta before adding, "He probably needs a hug."

Offering Sonya a small smile, Mal rose and moved around the booth to sit right beside Theta at his table. Being the awkward person that she was Mal simply stared at him with wide eyes, "Uhm... hi again."

Theta looked up and smiled at the new company, though the smile soon turned into a giggle then an out blown laugh. Her...her face! It looked exactly like Kos when he did something stupid in class, and everyone was staring at him. Like the one time he set his parchment on fire (Theta had no idea how he did it, though) and he just sat there, an awkward expression on his face while Bourosa panicked and tried to put out the fire before it burned anything else. Seeing it seemed to cheer him right up. He clutched at his sides.

"Sorry, sorry" He took a deep breath, and after another giggle or two, he plucked a chip from the basket with the hand not holding his sonic and held it out to Mel "peace offering for getting in your face earlier?"

Sonya turned sideways in the booth she sat in and watched the two of them closely, idly wondering for a moment if befriending him would be the best thing at the moment, considering eventually he'll have to learn the truth of the place he was in. Closing her eyes for a moment, Sonya smiled slightly before shaking her head and getting up to join them at the table. Sliding into her seat from before, she reached out and grabbed a handful of chips to chew on while the two in front of her spoke.

Mal's eyebrows furrowed in confusion when Theta started to laugh. Her face then took on a look of mock-offense, "Are you laughing at my face?" She shook her head but couldn't help but smile. Well, that was one way to wipe the solemn look off the boy's face. With the offer of the chip, she blinked rapidly and accepted it with another chuckle. "You, uh, don't have to worry about it. But thanks. I just... it's not important." The chip wasn't in her hand long before Mal ate it, a grin on her face. Her eyes darted to Sonya but she spoke to Theta, "So, you've got yourself a creepy, traveling police box too?" Little did Mal know not all TARDISes appeared that way.

((I honestly have no idea how to spell the plural of TARDIS haha))

"Uhh, Police Box? Well I guess you could call my TARDIS a box, if that's what you're talking about, but she probably wouldn't like it much. I'm not police, though..." Theta scratched behind an ear, confused. That remark had come out of nowhere, at least in his mind, since he didn't know about his older alternate self's TARDIS.

Sonya jumped to her feet and cast a grin at the two. "Right then, we've eaten and spoke. How about a nice walk, yeah?" Reaching over, she pulled Theta and Mal to their feet before slapping some bills on the table and leading them outside. "Well, the crowd is still going wild by the harbor... So we'll go this way, see the sites, introduce Theta to some of the things around here." Casting a grin over her shoulder, she started walking in the opposite direction of the harbor. She wasn't sure why, but something nagged at the back of her mind. Something that said they shouldn't give too much away at once to Theta, Sonya had no idea if it was dangerous or not, but she listened to her gut instinct more often than not anymore.

"Well, I know you're not the police but- Hey!" Mal didn't get to finish what she was about to say since Sonya yanked her up and dragged her outside. She, as politely as she could, shook her hand from Sonya's grasp and shoved both in her pockets. Mal followed at an even stride and raised an eyebrow. "I wouldn't mind seeing the sights too. I don't, uh, get out much."

Theta shrugged, grinning and allowing himself to be dragged around again. Sonya seemed to like doing that to people.

"Fine by me, better exploring around than sitting in a café all day. Though in all honesty I could have sat there all day just for the chips"

Syra was walking around London,trying to distance herself from the harbor,there were too many people too many thoughts. She wore a light blue Victorian tea dress with the back out,just around the shoulder blades. She was using her telepathy on a level that it created an illusion that she had a dragon wing tattoo,between her shoulder blades. To anyone with telepathy abilities would see through it,and see the large dragon wings perched on her back.

She had put her ankle length black hair in two ponytails,since she has been in control she saw the other crudely dressed woman wearing their hair like that. Her light blue Victorian boot heels slicked as she walked. She heard the comments in people's heads about,'someone should tell her the Victorian era called and they want their clothes back.'

She smiled as she walked because that very same person was now walking around barking like a dog. She felt a strange vibe as she passed a restaurant,as a couple of people stepped out. Which of them was throwing the vibe or was it more than one of them. But how to get them to allow her to join their little group. The man know thinking he is a dog ran past them,as she remarked," I think someone forgot their medicine today,first the harbor,let's hope it is not another invasion prelude."

((hope this is ok,Syra has been locked in her mind for over 100 of years so she is kinda awkard to know how to start conversation.))

Theta smiled and looked around London, wondering where Sonya was dragging them. Earth was just so exciting! Buses and cars all around, a blue sky with white poofy looking clouds, a woman with dragon wings...wait. Were humans supposed to have dragon wings? Nobody else did, and he was sure that he learned in the academy that humans evolved from apes, not reptilians.

So why on Gallifrey-ahem, Earth-was there a woman walking around with dragon wings? He poked Sonya and Mal in the shoulders lightly, pointing over to who he now dubbed dragon lady.

"I'm guessing that's not normal, or...?"

Mal watched the barking man with a queer look. Who does that? When Theta spoke up she followed where he was pointing to stare at the lady dressed in Victorian garb. "Theta, that's rude. Don't point out her differences just because she doesn't wear modern 21st century clothes." Mal huffed and concluded this Time Lord needed to learn earthly matters. She then hoped this wasn't a hypocritical thought considering she herself could be rude at times.

Little was Mal aware that Theta had been referring to the dragon wings hidden from site. Though Mal had a certain psychic capability, she never harnessed it and it wasn't like she could see through perception filters anyway. The only good her ability did was get people to think or feel the way she wanted. If, of course, it actually worked out.

Mal thought for a moment before muttering, mainly to herself, "Though I do wonder why she's dressed like that. Probably likes it, that's why I dress the way I do on days like this."

Theta shook his head, frustrated "No no no, not her clothes. Those!" He gestured wildly, his arms making a flapping motion "Big giant dragon wings on her back! How can you not see that?" He paused, looking sheepish for a second "Wait, are wings normal in 21st century humans?"

"Wings? What wings? Are you feeling alright. And no, wings aren't suppose to be on humans..." Mal awkwardly reached out as if she was going to place a hand on Theta's head to check his temperature but hesitated. The pause caused her nerves to spike so she dropped her hand and cleared her throat. She appeared to be increasingly anxious at her indecisive movements.

Syra looked at Theta and Mal,and said,He's perfectly fine,my name is Syra."

After she finished saying that,she lifted the illusions from her wings briefly for Mal to see,and then casted it again. She finished by adding," i have not been totally human for over 300 years."

(making a genaric response simply because I'm too lazy to go back and read the posts I missed )

Sonya glanced over at the woman with a slight frown on her face, not really listening to what she was saying, but watching her body language as she spoke. "Because Humans live for 300 years, yeah? Well Jack is an exception, but that is beside the point." She suddenly said quietly, eyeing the woman again with an interested gleam in her eyes. "I wouldn't classify Jack as human, and you... Your energy is way beyond that."
